Athlon Sports ranks Notre Dame defensive line as one of the best nationally
The defensive line for the Fighting Irish should be stout, and it has been ranked as one of the best units in college football ahead of the 2025 season.

After lauding ND's secondary, Athlon Sports ranked the ND defensive line as sixth-best in the country.
This is a unit that dealt with several significant injuries throughout last season but still managed to play solid football all year, so it is expected to take the next step this fall under the tutelage of line coach Al Washington. While Jordan Botelho will be sidelined to start the season due to a pectoral injury, this is still a talented and deep unit.
Both Gabriel Rubio and Jason Onye are healthy again at tackle, and the Irish brought in Jared Dawson from Louisville to rotate in as well. Meanwhile, Bryce Young leads a deep group on the outside. Once Boubacar Traore gets completely healthy, he should be a pass-rushing force off the edge.
There may not be a returning player that has off the chart stats, but there is proven depth with a lot of high upside for several players. Washington has a deep rotation, which should serve the ND defense well in 2025 as Marcus Freeman and Co. look to pick up right where they left off from last season starting with the opener at Miami.

Wisconsin football offers five-star recruit in the class of 2027
Wisconsin football is setting its sights high in the 2027 recruiting cycle, especially at the tight end position. After offering four-star TE Jaxon Dollar on Tuesday, the program also extended an offer to five-star TE Ahmad Hudson -- one of the nation's top players in the class. 247Sports specifically ranks Hudson as the No. 10 overall player in the 2027 cycle, the No. 1 tight end and the No. 1 player from his home state of Louisiana. Wisconsin is unsurprisingly not alone on the five-star recruit's offer sheet. As of July 23, other programs in pursuit of Hudson include Alabama, Florida State, LSU, Texas A&M, Auburn, Florida, Miami, Nebraska, North Carolina, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Oregon, Texas and USC. 247Sports currently lists Alabama, Baylor, Florida State, in-state LSU and Texas A&M as the early favorites in his recruitment, while On3/Rivals gives LSU (95.9%) a prohibitive early advantage over Nebraska (2%) and others. The 6-foot-6 tight end prospect is also a four-star power forward recruit on the basketball court. Only LSU, Grambling State and Louisiana Tech are listed on his basketball offer sheet. Wisconsin will have significant competition for Hudson's commitment. The program has not landed a five-star recruit since offensive tackle Nolan Rucci during the 2021 cycle. It only has five five-star signees in the online recruiting rankings era: 2001 DT Anttaj Hawthorne, 2003 DE Justin Ostrowski, 2007 OT Josh Oglesby, 2019 OT Logan Brown and Rucci. As noted in our story on Wisconsin's offer to Dollar, another blue-chip tight end in the class, the program is looking to rebuild its tight end room as it transitions back to a pro-style system on offense. Top talent at the position will be paramount to the scheme's success. That reality differs from Phil Longo's air raid scheme, which put more emphasis on speed and talent at wide receiver. Notable college football analyst is \n'selling' Wisconsin entering 2025 season
Wisconsin is one team that Fox Sports analyst Joel Klatt is selling entering the 2025 football season. In the latest episode of his podcast, Klatt unveiled five college football teams he's buying stock in, then the five that he's selling. The Badgers were one of his five 'sells,' along with Tennessee, Syracuse, BYU and California. Notably, he's buying two of Wisconsin's upcoming opponents in Michigan and Washington, as well as Clemson, Utah and North Carolina. Wisconsin's standing is complicated entering the 2025 campaign. On one hand, the program made clear improvements, both on the roster and coaching staff. A loaded transfer class rebuilt the program's defensive line rotation, edge-rusher group and quarterback room. New offensive coordinator Jeff Grimes is also set to return the program to its pro-style roots after its ill-advised move to the air raid offense back in 2023. Klatt discusses those positive changes in his description of why he's selling the Badgers. However, one variable continues to anchor the team: the nation's top-ranked schedule. Here's what Klatt had to say: I want to be really clear. I think Luke Fickell is an excellent football coach, I really do. I'm hoping that this works out for him. And I actually think that Wisconsin could be a better team, roster-wise, this year than they were last year. But here's the problem. I don't know if that shows up in the win-loss column this year. This is one of the most difficult schedules in the still have to be better than the teams that they play. They could be underdogs in nine of their 12 games this year. Think about that... At Alabama, good luck. At Michigan. Ohio State. Oregon. Indiana. Illinois. Not to mention, they still have to play a home game against Iowa, a home game against Washington, they're at Minnesota. You look at that schedule, and I don't know if they win three games. So for this year...I can make a strong argument that Wisconsin can be a better team, but it's not going to show up in the win-loss column. That's a sell all day not about the size of the hole [that Wisconsin is in], it's about whether you can climb out of it. This is going to be a tough climb this year. Texas A&M's 'old' offensive line should be the Aggies' offensive catalyst in 2025
Texas A&M's 2025 offensive line is poised to be one of the best units in the country, thanks to its experience and NFL-level talent, which will provide starting quarterback Marcel Reed and the Aggie running game a significant boost compared to last season's inconsistent performance. Throughout the offseason, head coach Mike Elko continued to praise his top seven returning offensive linemen, believing that winning in the trenches is the key to unlocking Texas A&M's offense. On Monday, during his sixth Coach's Night of the summer in San Antonio, Elko continued to praise the group, noting that, during his second-to-last season as Texas A&M's defensive coordinator before becoming Duke's head coach, the Aggies' 2025 O-line is the most experienced unit since A&M's memorable 2020 season, which included an Orange Bowl victory over North Carolina. "It's great to bring back all seven of our top offensive lineman. The last time we were this old at that position, we ended our season playing in the Orange Bowl. It's a really strong starting point to have a group like that." On paper, this is how the starting five offensive line could look when the Aggies open the 2025 season vs. UTSA: At center, Nabou is coming off another injury-riddled season and will contend with veteran Koli Faaiu for the starting job. Notable guard depth includes redshirt freshmen Ashton Funk and Blake Ivy, while five-star freshman tackle Lamont Rogers might be too talented to keep off the field. Another battle is at right tackle, as senior Reuben Fatheree is back for a final season, but will likely play behind Dametrious Crownover. Both are excellent pass protectors, so it will be tough to deny a close to equal snap count.
