When it comes to a pass rusher, Mike Vrabel had an anchor in his Titans' defensive line with Jeffrey Simmons. He also had multiple different outside linebackers and prototypical defensive ends.

At defensive end, the Titans played Denico Autry (2021-2023), Mario Edwards (2022), and Jack Crawford (2020) in that span. They didn't draft any prototypical defensive ends under Vrabel.

At outside linebacker, Harold Landry was one of Vrabel's top draft picks and performers. Landry was one of three outside linebackers drafted between 2018-2023 in Tennessee. Also drafted were Rashad Weaver and D'Andre Walker.

As you can see, there's a stark difference between a Vrabel defensive end and an outside linebacker. It wouldn't be a surprise to see the Patriots add one of each in this draft.

Arguably the best player in this draft, Carter is an elite pass rusher. He played off-ball linebacker and defensive end at Penn State. Last year, he led the FBS with 23.5 tackles for loss and 12 sacks. Carter was dominant, earning First-team All-American, Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year, and Defensive Lineman of the Year. He's ultra-athletic, agile, aggressive, and plays with high intensity. He's a projected Pro Bowl talent who could go in the top 3. The Patriots met with him at the Combine and he had a pre-draft visit in New England.

Williams is an ultra-athletic pass rusher with a high upside. He earned Second-team All-SEC honors the last two seasons. Williams finished with five sacks and two forced fumbles last year. At 6-foot-5, 260 pounds, he has the size and athletic traits that suggest he could develop into an explosive NFL pass rusher. That's more of a projection as Williams will have to reach his high ceiling. He'll be a first-round draft pick. Williams had a pre-draft visit with the Patriots.

Batty is built like a prototypical defensive end (6-foot-6, 271 pounds) and hits on five Titans marks. He also hits on five traits as an outside linebacker. A team captain, he earned First-team All-Big 12 honors after making 59 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and two interceptions. Service a 2-year LDS mission in Malaga and Spain and will be 25 as a rookie. Batty started a horse therapy non-profit and earned an award for community service in 2023. He's a projected Day 3 pick.

He's a two-time second-team All-Big 12 pick. He won OU's Bob Kalsu Award for leadership and serving as a role model last season. In 2023, he was honored for his exemplary community impact. He's a projected Day 3 pick.

Oladego is one of the most well-connected prospects to the Patriots. Eliot Wolf was on hand for his UCLA Pro Day. The Patriots then brought Oladego in for a pre-draft visit. He is the prototypical size for a Vrabel outside linebacker (6-foot-3, 259 pounds). Oladego is a high-character prospect who finished with 57 tackles, 13.5 for loss, and 4.5 sacks last season. He started his career as a middle linebacker before transitioning to an edge rusher. He's a projected third or fourth-round pick.

On Thursday, it was reported that Greg Hardy, signed in 2015 after a domestic violence arrest, had been arrested on Wednesday afternoon or alleging assaulting a family member. In the early hours of Saturday, Adam "Pacman" Jones was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and public intoxication. Also in the early hours of Saturday, recent second-round pick Kelvin Joseph was arrested after being involved in a fatal car crash. While some have tried to paint the NFL in a bad light when it comes to arrests, the reality is they have a lower arrest rate (2.5 k per 100,000) than the general public (4k per 100,000) does. It's only that every arrest of an NFL player makes headlines. And while it may seem like the Cowboys have a greater share of NFL arrests than other clubs, that's more than likely because their reputation precedes them. Hardy, most famously, signed a one-year, incentive-laden deal with the Cowboys after his 2014 arrest led to his release from the Carolina Panthers. He did not get along well, consistently missing meetings and clashing with the coaching staff and fellow players. No team signed him after that and he eventually turned to being an MMA fighter to try and capitalize on his athletic nature. His career lasted from 2018 through 2022, when after losing three straight matches was released from the UFC. Jones signed with Dallas in 2008, after being suspended by the league for 2007 after two seasons in Tennessee. He played just nine games before being suspended, as he was involved in a fight with the bodyguard Dallas assigned to babysit the player. After sitting out 2009, he rejuvenated his career in Cincinnati, playing eight seasons for the Bengals, earning First-Team All-Pro honors in 2015 and a Pro Bowl the following year. Jones, 41, was booked just before 2 a.m. Saturday into Kenton County jail, according to the court log. He was arrested by the Covington Police Department and charged with alcohol intoxication in a public place, disorderly conduct, and assault of a police officer or a probation officer. Jones posted a $10,000 bond and was released around 11:30 a.m. Saturday. Other details regarding the arrest were not immediately made available. Saturday's arrest in Covington, which is directly across the Ohio River from Cincinnati, marks at least the fourth time since 2021 that Jones has been arrested. He has now been booked on a public intoxication charge three years in a row. Joseph, part of the Cowboys' 2021 class that brought them Micah Parsons and Osa Odighizuwa, was traded away before 2023. he had been arrested for his participation in a fight outside a bar that led to a murder. Several OTA practices have already given us so much to talk about. Rashod Bateman is set to enter another tax bracket after signing an extension. Ar'Darius Washington is in a contract season, but he is unfortunately injured. That has seemingly opened the door for the nearly-forgotten Jalyn Armour-Davis, who has since gotten some snaps and worked at the safety position. For the Ravens to take another step in the right direction and get back to the AFC Championship Game, the backend of their defense will need to take a few steps of their own. We know there isn't much to worry about with Marlon Humphrey and Kyle Hamilton. The latter has missed a few OTA sessions, but there's a lot of optimism in the tandem he will form with a newly-acquired and highly-touted rookie. Ravens defensive coordinator Zach Orr has a ton of faith in his starting safety duo. The first three seasons of Kyle Hamilton's career were good enough to inspire the potential envy of NFL stars who are five years his senior. He earned a spot on the Pro Football Writers Association's All-Rookie Team in 2022. He has only gotten better since then. A member of the past two Pro Bowl rosters, he earned a First-Team All-Pro nod in 2023 before being named a Second-Teamer in 2024. One star alone, however, does not an elite safety tandem make, so Baltimore found an answer and an upgrade during the first round of this past April's draft in Malaki Starks. Saying defense coordinator Zach Orr is excited would be a massive understatement. This past week, he expressed his expectation for Hamilton and Starks as a duo. The NFL is a long way from college football in terms of level of competition, but Starks looks like a sure thing. Baltimore is hoping his skill set translates to the highest level of football. During his time in Athens with the Georgia Bulldogs, he was named a Freshman All-American and became a College Football Playoff National Champion. He was a Consensus All-American in 2023, a First-team All-American in 2024, and has two First-Team All-SEC (2023, 2024) to show for his trouble. He's used to playing in big games. He's certain to play in several this season, and fortunately for him, though the pressure to perform will come quickly, he doesn't have to do everything on his own.

That ground game was dominated by the dual-threat prowess of rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels, but the running backs also held their own. Should both sides be interested, Bailey predicts the always active Washington GM Adam Peters to send Buffalo valuable draft capital in exchange for the ball carrier. Trading away a Day 2 NFL Draft pick would leave Washington with no Day 2 selections next year after sending one to Houston in the deal that brought in Tunsil. While it makes sense to improve the roster as much as possible to maximize Daniels' cheap rookie contract, this aggressiveness is a major gamble with only one payoff: a Super Bowl title. If they don't win immediately? The Commanders would be pretty handcuffed in trying to keep that core together. If last season was any indication of the future, the Commanders are already in a Super Bowl window with the offense they currently have.
