Ex MLA's plea in prajavani: Cong govt harassing me

Hans India24-06-2025
Nalgonda: Former Nakrekal MLA Chirumarthi Lingaiah has alleged that officials in the constituency are harassing BRS leaders by submitting false reports, backed by the ruling party leaders.
He said that despite making 26 phone calls to the District Collector regarding the issue, there was no response, which forced him to approach the Grievance Day programme.
On Monday, during the prajavani, Lingaiah, along with party workers, submitted petitions to the Collector. Speaking to the media afterward at the Collectorate, he expressed disappointment over the Collector's failure to respond to phone calls regarding public issues.
He further alleged that former Nakrekal Market Committee Chairman Koppula Pradeep Reddy and former Chinnakaparthy Sarpanch Boya Vanishreen's representations were being ignored deliberately.
He claimed officials were submitting false reports under pressure from the ruling party and MLA as part of a political conspiracy against Pradeep Reddy.
He also mentioned that the Panchayat Secretary of Ketepally was suspended based on these false reports. He criticised the officials for working at the behest of ruling party leaders and said that even after multiple petitions in Grievance Day meetings, no action has been taken on constituency issues.
The former MLA accused the authorities of demolishing buildings on farmland belonging to the former Chinnakaparthy Sarpanch and alleged that ministers are not paying attention to the people's suffering.
Lingaiah concluded by claiming that officials are acting like Congress agents and that houses under the Indiramma Housing Scheme are being given only to Congress leaders in the villages.

Cong worker's ‘Ladli Behna' remarks trigger row

Bhopal: A video appeared to be of a local Congress functionary in Rajgarh on women beneficiaries of the Ladli Behna scheme went viral on Thursday. The Congress district panchayat member Yashwant Singh Gurjar is seen addressing the gathering at a welcome ceremony of the newly appointed district Congress president Priyavrat Singh earlier this week, wherein he said, "Ladli Behaniya, sab ab bori mein bhar denge (Ladli Behnas, we will pack you in gunny bags). " The state BJP has said, "The statement amounts to humiliation of women by the Congress party . Speaking to TOI, state BJP spokesman Ajay Singh Yadav said, "The Congress party is essentially anti-women. PCC chief Jitu Patwari had referred to a former woman MLA as 'chanchni (sugar syrup)'." State Congress' spokesman Mithun Ahirwar defended, "Congress party respects all women enrolled or not enrolled in the Ladli Behna Scheme. The scheme was the brainchild of the Congress party and we will ensure that beneficiaries of the scheme get the stipend of Rs 3000 as promised by the BJP before the assembly elections." Under fire for misconduct with women, MLA Mamkootathil quits Youth Cong post

Pathanamthitta/Thiruvananthapuram: Congress MLA Rahul Mamkootathil on Thursday quit as Youth Congress state president following allegations of misbehaviour with women from various quarters. The Palakkad MLA announced his decision at his residence in Adoor, shortly after opposition leader V D Satheesan said the party would address such serious allegations without any compromise. Young actor Rini Ann George had on Wednesday alleged that a "young leader of a prominent political party" sent her obscene messages and invited her to a five-star hotel. She stopped short of naming the person but dropped enough hints. However, on Thursday, screenshots of social media chats and voice clips purportedly featuring Mamkootathil appeared on TV channels and social media. Mamkootathil said he decided to quit the post on his own. "At a time when the state govt is facing severe protests and allegations, Congress leaders and party workers should not waste their time and energy on such matters. Hence, I have decided to resign from the post of Youth Congress president. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like American Investor Warren Buffett Recommends: 5 Books For Turning Your Life Around Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo I still believe that I have not committed any illegal act," he said. The MLA said he had spoken to the opposition leader, besides KPCC and AICC leaders. "They did not demand my resignation. The actress is my friend, and I don't believe the person she mentioned was me. She is my good friend and will remain so. I believe that I have not done anything against the law or the Constitution until now," he said, adding that he was not aware of the actor complaining to Satheesan about him. On an audio clip released by a Malayalam news channel alleging that he forced a woman to terminate a pregnancy, Mamkootathil said anyone could create such clips in this era. "I will reply when any complaint is filed. Till now, no such complaint exists," he said. Earlier in the day, writer Honey Bhaskaran alleged on social media that Mamkootathil chatted with her on Instagram and later made derogatory remarks about her. On this, he said he also saw the post but no evidence was provided. "Let her prove her allegation. If there is anything illegal, a complaint should be given. If two people indulging in a conversation is illegal, then she is also guilty. I am ready to face action if I am found guilty," he said. Similar allegations were raised against him when he was chosen as Youth Congress president and during the Palakkad byelection, he added. Indirectly welcoming Mamkootathil's decision, Rini said in Kochi that she was only seeking a behavioural correction among politicians. Without naming the person, she said: "Parties should take such corrective measures against such people." On the "friendship" claim, she said she had blocked the person on social media and they no longer communicated. Earlier, Satheesan told reporters in Thiruvananthapuram that anyone found guilty of such misbehaviour would not be spared. "The woman who raised the allegation should not be dragged into a controversy. She is like a daughter to me. If someone in Congress committed a serious offence, the party will handle it strictly. No matter how prominent the leader is, action will be taken. I will personally ensure this," he said. He said the party had not received any complaint so far. "No one has approached me with a personal complaint. If they did, action would be taken. A serious complaint has emerged now, and action will be taken. The party will investigate and act accordingly," he said. Meanwhile, protests broke out in parts of the state demanding the MLA's resignation. BJP and Mahila Morcha members marched to his office in Palakkad with live roosters. CPM and DYFI members also protested in Palakkad. Protests were also staged outside the MLA's residence in Adoor and offices of Satheesan. Mamkootathil had won the Palakkad byelection in Nov last year with a margin of 18,724 votes. (PTI Photo) NEW DELHI: In a show of solidarity, Congress and TMC leaders accompanied the opposition's Vice Presidential candidate former Supreme Court judge B Sudarshan Reddy to the residence of AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal who assured his party's full support. Though AAP has disengaged from the bloc it joins hands with INDIA bloc members on issues where it deems fit and Sanjay Singh from the party was present when Reddy filed his nomination in the presence of top opposition leaders earlier in the day. AAP has three MPs in Lok Sabha and out of its 10 MP posts in Rajya Sabha currently it has nine MPs including the estranged Swati Maliwal. One seat fell vacant after MP Sanjeev Arora won the Ludhiana West assembly bypoll in June. Congress's Pramod Tiwari and Syed Naseer Hussain and TMC's Kalyan Banerjee were present at the meeting at Kejriwal's residence. "Justice Reddy's judicial career is very impressive. He gave many unbiased judgments in favour of the country. I request everyone to vote for him, keeping party affiliations aside," Kejriwal said. Noting that Justice Reddy is from Andhra Pradesh where NDA ally TDP is in power, Kejriwal said 'we expect parties from AP and Telangana to rise above partisan politics and vote for Telugu pride and national interest. ' With 781 members in the electoral college and 391 required for a majority, the ruling alliance has a clear numerical advantage.
