According to a report by the International Data Corporation (IDC), the foldable smartphone market is projected to grow significantly, reaching 45.7 million units by 2028, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 20.3% from 2023 to 2028. While the foldable segment is expanding rapidly, it still accounts for a relatively small share of the overall smartphone market. The IDC forecasts a 37.6% increase in foldable phone shipments for 2024, predicting a rise from 18.1 million units in 2023 to 25 million units shipped in 2024. The report also indicates that emerging markets will largely drive this growth as prices decrease and more brands enter the foldable smartphone arena.
