Legendary entertainer Bernadette Peters, 77, joined another beloved star, Dame Elaine Paige, for a wonderful charity event over the weekend.
Peters, who starred in films such as The Jerk and Pennies From Heaven, won two Tony Awards thanks to her outstanding Broadway performances over the years. More recently, she worked alongside Paige to bring "West End Woofs (and Meows)" to London.
As the website for the event notes, the ticketed event is "a live dog and cat adoption event, working with participating shelters and rescue groups to benefit their charitable work." The event took place at St. Paul's Church in the Covent Garden on August 9.
Paige and Peters first co-hosted a virtual version of the event in 2020. The show went live in person in 2023, and the entertainers returned this year to host it again.
Peters is a co-founder of Broadway Barks, an organization that has been doing similar events for years in New York City.
On August 11, Peters posted a note of gratitude on her Instagram page after the event. "Thank you to my pal Elaine Paige for her beautiful heart to bring WEST END WOOFS to the UK," the caption read.
Peters also posted a group photo in a separate Instagram post and thanked "all the beautiful people who participated in WEST END WOOFS!!! Forever grateful."
Paige, who originated the role of Eva Peron in the show Evita and has starred in many additional theater hits, posted about the event on her Instagram page as well. The women performed outdoors on the steps of the building for those gathered around.

Fans of both Peters and Paige adored the updates from the event.
"Two of the greatest musical theatre actors ever," one person raved on Paige's post.
A comment on Peters' Instagram post read, "How utterly marvelous!!"
Another fan gushed, "You're amazing, Bernadette! I love how you took this across the pond!"
"You are the best with the greatest heart," someone else added.

HBO's HARRY POTTER Series Reveals First Look at the Weasley Family with New Cast Announcement — GeekTyrant

The Weasleys are officially stepping into the spotlight in HBO's upcoming Harry Potter series remake, and the magical family is already looking pretty great. While we've seen a steady stream of casting news for Hogwarts students, the red-headed wizarding clan is now starting to take shape, and we have a first look. We already knew that Alastair Stout would be playing Ron Weasley, Harry's loyal best friend, and Katherine Parkinson would take on the role of Molly Weasley, the loving matriarch. Now HBO has unveiled the young actors playing four more of Ron's siblings. Stepping into the roles of the mischievous twins Fred and George are real-life brothers Tristan and Gabriel Harland, while Ruari Spooner has been cast as the rule-abiding Percy Weasley. The youngest sibling, Ginny, the only daughter in the family, will be played by Gracie Cochrane. HBO revealed the cast with a fun selfie featuring the four newcomers alongside Stout, shared on Instagram. The Weasley family plays a major role in the Harry Potter universe, and since HBO is aiming for a more faithful adaptation of J.K. Rowling 's books, their presence will be even more significant. These newly announced characters all appear in the first book, but there are still a few Weasleys left to cast. Arthur Weasley, the quirky and loveable patriarch, hasn't been revealed yet, but since he becomes a major player starting with the second book, he'll need to be cast soon, likely before production begins on Season 2. There's also Charlie Weasley, who might at least get a name-drop this season. In the book, Charlie plays a part in helping smuggle the baby dragon Norbert out of Hogwarts, a scene the films trimmed down, but one that the series now has time to explore more fully. Charlie doesn't physically appear until the fourth book, so his casting could wait unless HBO wants to show photos of him in the Weasley household. That same question goes for Bill Weasley, who becomes a bigger part of the story beginning in Goblet of Fire and shows up consistently through to the end. Whether the series casts him and Charlie early on just for background family moments, like Molly's magical 'grandfather clock', is still up in the air. In the movies, the clock featured photos of each family member, but the show might take a simpler route with names instead. For now, we've got a solid Weasley lineup to start the journey with Harry. HBO's Harry Potter series is currently filming and is slated to premiere sometime in early 2027.

BLUE EYE SAMURAI Season 2 Poster Teases Mizu's Epic Return — GeekTyrant

Netflix just dropped the first poster for Blue Eye Samurai Season 2, and it features the return of Mizu, who will continue her revenge-fueled journey. While a release date still hasn't been confirmed, hopefully we don't have to wait long for the next chapter of the story. Blue Eye Samurai has earned its place as one of Netflix's most badass original animated series. Since it premiered in 2023, fans have been all in on this gorgeously violent tale of vengeance and identity. And after that cliffhanger Season 1 finale, people have been hungry to see where Mizu's path leads next. Netflix also confirmed that the series is officially in production on Season 2. When we last saw Mizu, she was leaving Japan and heading to London to finish what she started — taking down Skeffington and Routely. That unfinished business has fans hyped to see her return with blades drawn. At this summer's Anime Expo, co-creator Amber Noizumi teased what's to come during a panel alongside Michael Green and executive producer Jane Wu. Noizumi said that Mizu's mission remains as sharp as her sword: 'Mizu's journey remains the same. Revenge is her religion.' Green backed that up with a reveal: 'She believes that at least two of the men that she's out to kill are going to be somewhere in this magical place called London.' Noizumi also hinted at a few surprises that could shake things up: 'There are also going to be maybe some people you thought died, who maybe are still alive.' Outside the convention, Green said: 'We're excited how it's coming along. It's going great. We have the best team you could ask for working, applying all their talent and experience into doing the impossible again. And more of the impossible, and celebrating what we got good at and trying some really new crazy things too.' Blue Eye Samurai recently scored the Emmy for 'Best Animated Series' in 2024, beating out some major contenders like X-Men '97 . With talk of future seasons and even spin-offs in the works, it's clear that Mizu's journey is far from over, and I'm excited to continue watching that journey unfold.

Classic Rock of the 70s and Older

'I thought as a rock star I owed it to people to enjoy myself to the absolute limit,' writes Alex James, bass player for the 1990s Britpop band Blur, in 'Bit of a Blur,' his 2007 autobiography. 'It was a missed opportunity for everybody if I didn't. Turpitude, extreme immorality, is the privilege of the rock star,' he adds. 'No one else could get away with it. Even film stars and footballers have to conduct themselves with some degree of common decency. They're all answerable to somebody.' Let us salute Mr. James for his candor. There is an implied social contract here: The rock star is society's id. He lives the life of an amusing wastrel, entertaining us all until he flames out spectacularly, usually around 27 years old, and leaves behind an important moral lesson about the dangers of self-indulgence, while making us all grateful for our sedate lives in middle management.
