New Orleans mother seeking answers in son's 2022 unsolved murder
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — A New Orleans woman is seeking justice for her son, who was murdered almost two and a half years ago.
'It'll be three years, Aug. 27. Long as I don't have justice, no, I'm not going to be alright,' said Sharon August.

Pain, heartbreak and desperation are what August feels daily as she looks for answers to her son's murder.
'I just ask God, give me the strength. I asked God to let me know who did. I need justice,' said August.
According to police, on Aug. 22, 2022, they responded to a shooting on General Taylor Street around noon that claimed the life of 31-year-old Kevin August.
Today, the only way she sees her son is by looking at photos. Since her son's murder, she has called the detectives daily. She wants more to be done in the case.
'It doesn't take two years. Every time I call the detective the voicemail is full. I can't leave a message, and I never get a phone call back. It's like they kicked me to the curb,' said August.

'Every day, every week, every month that goes by, the trail gets colder and colder and people's memories, ' said Rafael Goyeneche with the Metropolitan Crime Commission.
Goyneche explains during 2022, violent crime was escalating, and the number of officers was decreasing.
He adds as cases get older, it takes something extraordinary for the police to be able to crack the case, but that doesn't mean that they're not trying.
'It can't just be a CrimeStoppers tip saying that so-and-so committed the murder that may give the police, a lead. It has to rise to the level of probable cause to arrest, arrest, and prove beyond a reasonable doubt to convict,' said Goyneche.
August says she will continue to pray hoping the next time she gets a call from the police will be about the person who killed her son.
'Somebody needs to say something. Somebody saw something. A mama shouldn't have to bury her child, it should be the other. Kevin should have buried me, I'm the mama. I never thought I'd bury my child,' said August.

Shooting outside Cache 42 leaves 1 dead, 2 people injured
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — At least three people were injured after deputies say a shooting happened outside a restaurant in Southeast Shelby County. Town crackdown on 'escalating' issue of graffiti
A town has adopted a "zero-tolerance approach" to graffiti in an effort to deal with its "escalating issue", Crimestoppers has said. The charity said a four-week campaign had started in Northampton to tackle the problem. It was working with Fearless, its youth service, and West Northamptonshire Council, which has increased the maximum fine for graffiti and other environmental crimes to £500. "Graffiti is not only an act of vandalism - it undermines community pride, damages both public and private property, and can foster a sense of unease among residents and visitors," the charity added. The campaign encourages residents to report graffiti anonymously through the charity, and it is being advertised across social media and transport to raise awareness. Family gathers to remember victims, push for justice in unsolved Metroparks murders
CLEVELAND (WJW) – Six years later, the family and friends of Kate Brown and Carnell Sledge are still pushing for answers. Donning orange shirts to mark National Gun Violence Awareness Month, they gathered at the Rocky River Reservation on Saturday near the bench where the two were found shot to death in 2019. They placed signs with information on them along the Valley Parkway and set up a table to hand out yard signs, flyers and car magnets. They hope that the tradition of holding this gathering around the anniversary of the murders to spread the word about their sister's case doesn't last much longer. 'We're just doing anything that we possibly can to keep their case in the spotlight. We want people to talk about it. We want people to share memories, to say their names, to not have them be forgotten.'
