A man with links to the Alameddine crime gang shot in the head during a drive-by shooting has died in hospital.
Police were called to Church Street beneath the M4 overpass at Granville in western Sydney shortly after 5pm on Sunday after a gunman opened fire on a white Toyota HiLux ute occupied by four men waiting at the traffic lights.
Alameddine associate Dawood Zakaria, 32, was shot in the head while solicitor Sylvan Singh, 25, was struck in the arm and leg.
Singh is understood to have been an innocent victim caught up in the latest episode of Sydney's gangland war. He remains in hospital in a stable condition.
Police revealed on Monday that Zakaria had undergone surgery in Westmead Hospital and was on life support and not expected to survive the second attempt on his life.
He has since died in hospital.

Disgraced former Channel Seven star Andrew O'Keefe cut a very eye-catching figure in Sydney this week. The former Deal or No Deal host, 53, was spotted out and about in Bondi on Friday. The former Deal or No Deal host tested positive to meth while driving his Mercedes C200 in Sydney's eastern suburbs on July 28 last year. O'Keefe appeared relaxed and refreshed after three months overseas in rehab and chatted happily with lawyers and police while waiting to have his matter heard. His solicitor Jahan Kalantar told the court his client accepted he had a poor traffic record and had spent a substantial period of time struggling with his illicit drug abuse. Mr Kalantar said O'Keefe had taken serious steps to address his drug problems and produced evidence he had spent three months as an in-patient at a rehab facility. The disgraced ex-TV star pleaded guilty in October to trespassing, breaching an an apprehended violence order and meth possession. Shortly before O'Keefe was pulled over on July 28, he had confronted a man at a Point Piper property he was banned from attending. He faced Waverley Local Court in February to plead guilty to driving with meth in his system but escaped with a $440 fine and a disqualification from driving for six months Magistrate Michael Barko read a letter of apology O'Keefe wrote to the court, which he accepted as being 'sincere and genuine'. 'I can assure you the next step is jail. I'm not just saying that, I absolutely mean it,' he told the disgraced Seven star. O'Keefe was released on bail after appearing in Waverley Local Court but was arrested again at Rose Bay police station in September when police found meth in his car during a search. Two days earlier, O'Keefe had overdosed on heroin at a party and needed to be revived by paramedics. Elisha Dalah, 38, performed CPR to save O'Keefe after supplying him with the heroin that led to the overdose at his Vaucluse home in Sydney's eastern suburbs on September 14 last year. Dalah's millionaire father, Michael, who is a former co-owner of Elizabeth Bay Marina, has spoken out after harrowing details of the incident emerged. The Sydney socialite cleaned vomit from the disgraced TV star's nose and mouth, and gave him Narcan, a drug which counteracts the effects of heroin before O'Keefe was taken to St Vincent's Hospital. Magistrate Milledge previously told O'Keefe that his life had 'just completely gone off the rails' and it was his responsibility to fix it Dalah pleaded guilty to supplying heroin and was ordered to undertake a rehabilitation program. Meanwhile, O'Keefe was fined $1,500 and handed a 30-month community corrections order which required him to attend rehab. Magistrate Milledge said his life had 'just completely gone off the rails' and it was his responsibility to fix it. 'I know domestic violence is a factor in your offending and that is awful, truly awful,' she said. 'You got into the grip of something awful and the wheels fell off.' He was found guilty in January last year of domestic violence and drug offences after a 'degrading' attack on a woman who cannot be identified. The drug conviction was later quashed but O'Keefe lost an appeal against the assault convictions in August. He has an annual income of more than $300,000 despite not having appeared on television for more than four years. The former presenter of The Chase Australia and Weekend Sunrise is paid $26,000 a month 'through insurance', according to court documents obtained by Daily Mail Australia. O'Keefe spends about $17,000 of that sum on tax and supporting his two youngest children, leaving him with approximately $9,000 a month or $2,250 a week. It is not known what the insurance payments are for but they equate to $312,000 - or $108,000 once deductions are made - a year. O'Keefe's income, which is still dwarfed by the millions of dollars he made from television, was outlined in a statement of facts tendered in Sydney's Waverley Local Court on Friday. His contract with the Seven Network was not renewed at the end of 2020 amid concerns over his erratic behaviour and domestic violence charges. Proceedings in the Supreme Court of Victoria have escalated against former AFL umpire Troy Pannell, who faces serious allegations of civil fraud totalling $8.7million. The court was again forced to issue an arrest warrant after Pannell failed to appear for a scheduled hearing on Friday, marking his second absence in relation to the case brought by his former employer, SeaRoad Shipping. Justice Andrew Watson, presiding over the matter, noted with concern the repeat non-appearance and authorised the warrant late Friday. That same evening, Pannell was involved in a serious single-vehicle crash in western Victoria, reportedly colliding with a tree. He remains in Melbourne's Alfred Hospital after undergoing emergency surgery. Police had been monitoring Pannell's movements amid suspicions he had been in South Australia, potentially to avoid court proceedings, and there are fears he may attempt to flee overseas. Pannell stands accused of orchestrating a prolonged scheme involving a company called Independent Container Surveyors & Assessors (ICSA). SeaRoad Shipping alleges the entity was used to generate thousands of fake invoices for container repair services that were never provided between 2015 and 2024. Court documents tendered state Pannell had sole authority over the approval of purchase orders, and used this position to process fraudulent payments to ICSA. In evidence tendered to the court, SeaRoad's legal team referred to numerous emails and financial documents suggesting Pannell was under financial pressure in the months leading up to the revelations. These included an email sent to his wife, Lynise Woodgate, in October 2023, with the subject line 'Love U,' in which he apologised, stating: 'I'm so sorry for everything… I would not feel the way I do today.' Further documents tendered showed Pannell and Ms Woodgate applied to extend their $100,000 home loan with Westpac in January 2024, submitting a breakdown of living expenses and personal financial details. Among the documents were statements relating to their family home, purchased in 2016 for $810,000 with an estimated $600,000 still owed, and an investment property in St Kilda generating rental income. It is not suggested that Ms Woodgate was involved in any of the alleged fraudulent conduct. In statements to investigators, she said the pair are now estranged and that she had no knowledge of the transactions under investigation. In a bizarre twist, court documents tendered reveal that Pannell previously told SeaRoad that his mother had passed away. However, ABC Investigations confirmed that Mrs Pannell answered the phone at her Werribee home this week, very much alive. Previous excuses provided by Pannell for failing to attend court have included striking a kangaroo with his vehicle. An email sent to court staff on May 9, just 35 minutes after a scheduled appearance, claimed the collision had damaged his windscreen and indicator, and he was awaiting roadside assistance. Police are now liaising with federal agencies, and SeaRoad's legal counsel, Mr Jonathan B. Davis KC, has called for Pannell to be added to the Australian Federal Police watchlist. 'Instead of going interstate, Mr Pannell could be in Bogota,' Mr Davis told the court. Emails found on a work-issued laptop also revealed that Mr Pannell had been preparing to sell two café businesses: Duck Duck Goose and Larder in Kyneton, and Common Galaxia in Seddon. A sales brochure prepared by Paramount Business Brokers was submitted to the court as part of the evidence. Pannell, who officiated 219 AFL matches between 2005 and 2018, previously served as president of the AFL Umpires' Association. The court adjourned the matter pending Pannell's medical recovery and execution of the arrest warrant. Further proceedings will determine the extent of civil liability and whether criminal charges may follow.
