The second day of Chicago Bears minicamp is officially in the books, and the action is heating up. But while the competition remains fierce on the field, it was the return of a familiar presence that may end up being the highlight of the week.

Jaquan Brisker, 26, made his long-awaited return to the practice field. Now entering his third season with the Bears, the hard-hitting safety missed 11 games last year due to a concussion sustained in Week 5 against the Carolina Panthers.

His return was documented in clips from Bears on CHSN, with the full interview available at chicagobears.com. Brisker spoke at length during media availability, reflecting on the mental and physical toll of being sidelined.
'It was hard being away from football, especially week to week,' he said.
'It was kind of sad, depressing, things like that. But I got over it. It's time to move on, and I'm back now.'
Brisker emphasized that he doesn't plan to change his aggressive play style.
'I'm going to continue to play the same way,' he said.
'That was my first time really having a contact injury. He hit his head on my neck… really just moving on from that.'
He explained that the injury was a vestibular concussion and offered insight into his recovery process:
'Just really working side to side, catching tennis balls, just doing different things to get my nervous system back right. That's really what it was about.'

This marks Brisker's third concussion in as many seasons, but before the setback, he was trending upward. In 2023, he posted 105 total tackles, 9 passes defended, and two forced fumbles—earning recognition as one of the Bears' most promising defenders.

Despite his concussion history, Brisker made it clear that retirement was never an option. His return now is more than symbolic; it's strategic.
As the Bears continue to build momentum this offseason, having Brisker healthy and back in the mix could help stabilize a defense in need of leadership. Time will tell if he can stay on the field—but for now, his presence is a welcome sight.

Georgia Newly Linked to Promising Quarterback in Latest College Football News

Georgia Newly Linked to Promising Quarterback in Latest College Football News originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Georgia Bulldogs have questions behind center for the 2025 season. But they continue to impress at the position on the recruiting trail. Advertisement On3's Rusty Mansell reported Tuesday the Bulldogs hosted 2028 quarterback Brady Quinn at their summer camps this week. The signal-caller, who is already a Georgia target, looked impressive. "I'm told that 2028 quarterback Brady Quinn had a good showing," Mansell wrote. "The 2018 signal caller from South Florida is not the son of the former Notre Dame QB, before you ask. "He has early offers and was at Tennessee on Sunday and UGA on Monday." According to 247 Sports, Quinn has received offers from a dozen schools, including three SEC programs -- the Kentucky Wildcats, Missouri Tigers and Ole Miss Rebels. Quinn only just finished his freshman year of high school. Advertisement But he's one of the early names to watch behind center for the Bulldogs in 2028. In the 2026 class, Georgia landed a verbal commitment from five-star quarterback Jared Curtis. The No. 1 overall signal-caller based on the 247 Sports composite rankings, Curtis committed to the Bulldogs, re-opened his recruitment and then verbally committed to Georgia again. For 2027, the Bulldogs are pushing for some of the class' top quarterbacks such as five-star prospect Elijah Haven and four-star Peter Bourque. This upcoming season, Georgia is expected to start Gunner Stockton behind center. Ryan Puglisi will also compete for playing time during the team's fall camp. Braves Announce Trade With Orioles After Craig Kimbrel News

Braves Announce Trade With Orioles After Craig Kimbrel News originally appeared on Athlon Sports. One day after a monumental collapse by their bullpen, the Atlanta Braves shook things up via a trade with the Baltimore Orioles. Advertisement It involved one of the two relief pitchers at the center of the eight-run meltdown in the final two innings of Thursday's 11-10 home loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks. On Friday, Atlanta announced that it has dealt reliever Scott Blewett to the Orioles for cash considerations. This marks Blewett's fourth stop and third MLB team since April. The 29-year-old began the 2025 season with the Minnesota Twins and spent a week with Baltimore in mid-April before his contract was purchased by the Braves. Atlanta also made another bullpen move official on Friday by selecting 16-year veteran reliever Craig Kimbrel to the major league roster from Triple-A. The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal was first to report the decision on Thursday shortly after the gut-punch loss. Former Atlanta Braves relief pitcher Scott Blewett (63) pitches at Truist Zanine-Imagn Images Blewett appeared in 11 games for the Braves, posting a 5.51 ERA, 1.59 WHIP, 10 walks and 13 strikeouts across 16 1/3 innings. The former 2014 second-round draft pick holds a 3.02 ERA across 53 2/3 innings in his major league career. Advertisement He most recently took the mound on Thursday when he surrendered three hits (all home runs), two walks and five earned runs in 1 1/3 innings after entering in the eighth frame with a 9-3 lead. Entering Friday, the Braves (27-34) sit in fourth place in the NL East, 11 games behind the division-leading New York Mets (39-24). They're set to take on the San Francisco Giants for a three-game series in the Bay Area starting Friday night. Ravens Won't Play Games With Potential Lamar Jackson Extension

Ravens Won't Play Games With Potential Lamar Jackson Extension originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Competency is underrated. A handful of teams have franchise quarterbacks. Several teams have playoff-caliber star power. But few teams are capable of recognizing when they have something good and doing everything in their power to hold onto it. Advertisement The Baltimore Ravens already made quarterback Lamar Jackson the highest-paid player in the sport in 2023. Just two years later, he's eligible to be extended again. While it may seem early to ask for another extension, Jackson isn't off base. Since Jackson earned his big payday, nine quarterbacks have signed extensions for more average annual value (Over the Cap). Thus, Baltimore may soon return to the negotiating table. Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta recently foreshadowed another Jackson extension coming down the chute. "We've had some conversations before the draft, after the draft, in person last week," DeCosta told Jerry Coleman on the 'BMore Baseball Podcast.' "I think we're in the introductory sort of stage of looking at what an extension might look like." Advertisement The right details may still be in the works, but it should be rather simple. Jackson, soon enough, will be the highest-paid player in the sport once again. He could very well pass the $60 million mark that Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott set ahead of the 2024 campaign. His current deal is worth five years and $260 million. The biggest obstacle in inking Jackson long term (again) might be the talent already on the roster. "We've got a lot of business that we're conducting with different players," DeCosta said. "We're in a situation where we're blessed to have most of the team coming back, but as we look out over the next two, three, four, five years, we're trying to keep as many good players as we can. We've got some guys that we feel like have a chance to really be prolific players for us that can be here a long time. We're trying to get as many of those guys signed up as possible. That's a big challenge, and Lamar's certainly a big part of that." A deal isn't imminent, and with multiple years left on his deal, the situation isn't particularly urgent. Jackson may stand to gain from waiting even longer for more stars to get paid. Advertisement In either event, the number on Jackson's next deal isn't something for Ravens fans to be worried about. He's a superstar with no signs of slowing down playing the sport's most important position. Pay him what he wants and try to win a Super Bowl.
