Harris J finds solace in faith and music
During a recent promotional event, the 28-year-old Muslim artiste shared his hope that his uplifting music would resonate in regions facing humanitarian crises, such as Palestine and Sudan.
He confessed to having a profound struggle with the world's injustices.
"I feel that music alone isn't strong enough to fight the evil that exists. To me, that's why there's heaven and hell."
Harris, whose real name is Alharith Jung, said his trust in a higher power and divine justice kept him grounded.
"If there were no heaven and hell, I would lose my mind."
He said if not for his belief that there would be ultimate accountability, he would not be able to cope with the suffering of innocent people.
"How can you wake up every day and know what happens to innocent children in this world and not believe that there will be justice?"
Harris, the voice behind hits like 'Salam Alaikum', 'Good Life' and 'I Promise', finds peace in his faith, believing God is the ultimate judge.
"God is the most just judge and evil people will receive the punishment they deserve. That's what has allowed me to survive."

Trump overhauls Kennedy Center, honours Sylvester Stallone, Strait, Gaynor, KISS, Crawford
WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump on Wednesday named "Rocky" star Sylvester Stallone and country music great George Strait among the recipients of the Kennedy Centre Honours, as he pursues a controversial overhaul of the storied arts venue. Since returning to office in January, the Republican leader has declared war on what he calls "woke" viewpoints espoused in the nation's cultural institutions, including a fresh probe of content at several Smithsonian museums. The Kennedy Centre, a living monument to the late John F. Kennedy that opened in 1971, has long enjoyed bipartisan support but has been in the president's crosshairs, and he appointed himself board chairman in February. "We have completely reversed the decline of this cherished national institution," Trump told reporters at the stately white marble complex overlooking the Potomac River. "We ended the woke political programming." Also receiving the Kennedy Center Honors, one of the nation's highest arts awards for lifetime achievement, will be disco diva Gloria Gaynor, rock band KISS and British actor Michael Crawford, known for Broadway's "Phantom of the Opera." Trump announced he himself would host the awards gala, which usually takes place in early December and is later broadcast on CBS. "I did not insist, but I think it will be quite successful," he said. He also joked that he wanted an honor himself but was "never able to get one." In his first term, from 2017 to 2021, the Republican president skipped the Kennedy Centre Honours gala because some of the artists receiving awards criticized him or said they would not attend in his presence. The Kennedy Centre is home to the National Symphony Orchestra and also offers theater, opera, comedy and other productions. Many artists associated with the centre, including opera singer Renee Fleming and musician Ben Folds, have cut ties with the institution since Trump took the reins. Others including comedian Issa Rae canceled performances. The producers of smash hit historical musical "Hamilton" opted to cancel a scheduled 2026 run, citing the end of "neutrality" at the centre. "We're restoring the Kennedy Centre as the premier venue for performing arts anywhere in the country, anywhere in the world," Trump said. "It was being run down, money wasn't being spent properly. They were building things they shouldn't have built that nobody wanted instead of taking care of the great gem that it is." The Smithsonian Institution, which runs a vast network of museums, said it was reviewing a White House letter announcing a probe of content aimed at removing "divisive or partisan narratives."

Yusof Haslam's Skop Productions donates RM380,000 to Media Prima disaster fund
KUALA LUMPUR: Skop Productions Sdn Bhd has contributed RM380,000 to the NSTP-Media Prima Bhd (NSTP-MPB) Disaster Fund to assist victims, including those affected in Putra Heights. Skop Productions founder Datuk Yusof Haslam presented the donation to Media Prima Bhd (MPB) group chief financial officer Rosli Sabarudin. Yusof said the contribution was inspired by strong support for his company's films this year. "This donation is to help victims, whether their homes were destroyed by fire or affected by any other disaster. It also includes victims in Putra Heights and elsewhere," Yusof said. "Fortunately, Skop Productions' films have received good response this year, so I must play my role as a Muslim and as a caring Malaysian. This is a sincere contribution from me and Skop Productions," he added. He said that the company planned to continue collaborating with MPB's Primeworks Studios on several upcoming projects, including Blood Brothers 2 and Sheriff, which will begin filming next year. "This collaboration is a win-win situation because we cannot be greedy and do everything ourselves. In any industry, we must have cooperation and give-and-take to achieve success. That has always been our practice," he said. On his hopes for the donation, Yusof hoped it could help ease the burden of disaster victims and he would contribute yearly if it was sustainable. Rosli expressed his appreciation for Skop Productions' generosity. "As a trustee, I am grateful to Malaysians for their continuous support. This time, Skop Production has stepped forward with an amount of RM380,000, which will go to the NSTP-Media Prima Disaster Fund to aid victims in Putra Heights and other disaster-hit areas nationwide," he said.
