One of Indiana's top guards commits to Butler basketball hours after receiving offer

Butler basketball got a commitment from one of Central Indiana's top rising seniors on Tuesday night.
Noblesville's Baron Walker announced his commitment to the Bulldogs via social media.
"Had a spectacular conversation with Thad Matta," Walker posted. "I am feeling supercalifragilisticexpialidocious (sure did look up how to spell that) after receiving an offer from Butler."
Three hours later, the Indiana Junior All-Star committed.
"Whichever school gets a commitment from the 6-3 Walker is going to be fortunate," IndyStar's Kyle Neddenriep wrote earlier this summer ranking the state's top in-state seniors.
Walker, ranked ninth in those Class of 2026 player rankings, averaged 15.7 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.4 steals per game as a junior, helping the Millers to a 19-6 record. Walker shot 50% from the field, including 40.2% from the 3-point line (37-for-92) and 82% from the free-throw line. His first Division I offer came in May from Indiana State, followed by offers from Bellarmine, Boston University, Central Michigan, IU Indy and Wright State.
The offers continued to roll in this month with Ball State, Belmont, Miami (Ohio), Montana and SIU-Edwardsville offering this month.

Where does Sixers' Tyrese Maxey rank among point guards in the NBA?

Philadelphia 76ers guard Tyrese Maxey continues to take steps forward in his NBA career. After being the No. 21 pick of the 2020 draft, Maxey has morphed into an All-Star guard and has taken his place as one of the rising stars in the league. As Maxey and the Sixers move forward, he will be looking to find his efficiency again in the 2025-26 season. He averaged 26.3 points, 6.1 assists, and 3.3 rebounds, but he shot only 43.7% from the floor and 33.7% from deep. Both of those numbers are below his career norms so he will look to find his efficient offensive game again. HoopsHype ranked the top 26 point guards in the league and Maxey came in ranked No. 10 on the list: A volume scorer with good playmaking ability, Tyrese Maxey missed out on All-Star honors last season, but he performed at that level. Maxey even had a career season on the defensive end, averaging nearly two steals per contest, playing the role of chaotic pest well on the less glamorous end of the floor. Maxey's efficiency did take a hit last year, and playing without former league MVP Joel Embiid may have played a role in that, as the former Kentucky star boasted a 56.2 true shooting percentage in 2024-25, his lowest mark since his rookie season. The Sixers will be looking to Maxey to lead this team back into title contention. Of course, everything comes down to the health of Joel Embiid, but Philadelphia will be looking to get itself back on track to move forward in the Eastern Conference.

Is Caitlin Clark playing today? Indiana Fever vs Los Angeles Sparks

Caitlin Clark has officially been ruled out of the Indiana Fever's Tuesday date at the Los Angeles Sparks. Clark continues to recover from a right groin injury that has sidelined her since the final minute of the Fever's 85-77 July 15 win over the Connecticut Sun. WISH-TV's Angela Moryan reported that Clark has been ruled out of her eighth straight regular season game for the Fever. It marks the 17th regular season game missed due to injury this season for Clark and the 18th game overall, including the WNBA Commissioner's Cup final. Clark's injury woes date back to the preseason when she missed the Fever's opening preseason contest with a left leg injury. A subsequent left quadriceps injury cost Clark five games from May 28-June 10 and then a left groin injury sidelined Clark for four regular season games and the WNBA Commissioner's Cup final from June 26-July 5. Clark is averaging 16.5 points, 8.8 assists, 5 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game on 36.7% field goal shooting and 27.9% 3-point accuracy, but she's played in just 13 games this season after earning WNBA Rookie of the Year status a season ago. During the Fever's 78-74 Sunday win at the Seattle Storm, ESPN reporter Holly Rowe did provide an encouraging update. "Well, Stephanie White did give us a small update on Caitlin that she has started some full-court running, full-speed running the last four or five days. Still not doing full basketball activities, but there has been some progress made recently," Rowe reported. Indiana has said all along in this latest injury recovery that the franchise would be patient with Clark and not rush her back. Clark beginning conditioning drills is a good start. As Indiana navigates minus Clark, the Fever are in the midst of a five-game winning streak. Indiana (17-12) looks to stay hot on Tuesday night at the Los Angeles Sparks (12-15) with tipoff set for 9 p.m. CT. The game will air on CBS Sports Network. Indiana Fever hopeful Caitlin Clark injury is 'blessing in disguise'

Following Indiana's fifth consecutive win, Fever head coach Stephanie White spoke on how the team has improved without the presence of Caitlin Clark and her injury absence could help them in the long run. "I mean, we've got a deep team. We've got a great mix of veterans who have been in this league and who understand the ebbs and flows and who understand that injuries are a part of it. And young players who continue to grow in their role and continue to gain confidence. "I think I said it earlier, when C was out the very first time. While we don't like it, sometimes it can be a blessing in disguise because everybody else finds themselves. And no one is afraid to make the big play offensively or defensively," White said. Clark has been absent from the floor for the past seven games as she recovers from a right groin injury suffered against the Connecticut Sun on July 15. Unlike the previous three segments of the season without Clark, the Fever have finally figured out how to consistently find the win column. "I think it's just we've got a really good group that's unselfish, that want to win, that play well together and for each other. And when one person doesn't have it, somebody else does. And I think it makes this really, really difficult to scout when that happens," White said. Although Clark will miss her eighth straight game with the right groin ailment and 18th overall this season, including the WNBA Commissioner's Cup Final, the former Hawkeye has reportedly been making significant strides in her recovery. As Indiana travels to the Los Angeles Sparks from Arena tonight, White hopes the team can continue their unselfish play and united mentality en route to a sixth straight win.
