Sinitta opens up on devastating miscarriages that made her want to 'shut the world out' and how her adopted children gave her 'a reason to live'

Daily Mail10-05-2025
Sinitta has opened up on her darkest moments that made her want to 'shut the world out' and how her adopted children gave her 'a reason to live'.
The 80s icon, 61, married Andy Wilner in 2002 and adopted her children Magdalena and Zac in 2007 following a series of heartbreaking miscarriages.
She tragically suffered four miscarriages followed by three failed attempts of IVF.
When asked if it was one of the most difficult moments in her life, the singer told The Mirror: 'Oh, it was hard to breathe. I wanted to curl up in a ball and shut the world out – so perhaps it's only natural those thoughts come back to haunt you, later.
'The day I adopted my kids I had a reason to live. It's not the British way to talk about things. When people asked how I was, I'd say, 'Oh, I'm fine.'
'You're too scared to say, well, as a matter of fact, I've just lost a child – in case people are horrified. Nowadays, it's different because people are prepared to discuss mental health. They are more understanding that we don't all live perfect lives.'
She also recalled the moment she picked Magdalena and Zac up and took them home, which she said was 'strange' and 'surreal'.
It comes as daughter Magdalena made sure she got a snap with TV presenter Piers Morgan while taking in an Arsenal match in March.
Beaming as she posed with the former newspaper editor, 60, the daughter of music royalty cut a sophisticated figure in a trench coat.
Her mother burst onto the scene in 1986 with the hit single So Macho which reached number two in the UK charts and spent seven weeks in the top 10.
After several charting songs for Simon Cowell's record label, she joined the judge on The X Factor for its opening season in 2004, helping out at the Judges' Houses stage.
Sinitta posted the cute photo to her Instagram on Sunday with the caption: 'Baby Girl @mags_willner with @piersmorgan watching @arsenal & @chelseafc
'Lovely lunch , thank you @raymondblanc you are the best Host ! Pity you guys Beat @chelseafc though'
The pop icon, born Sinitta Malone, was married to Andy Willner from 2002 to 2010, during which time they adopted two children - Magdalena and brother Zac.
She grew up in Seattle and later Detroit but frequently went on tour with her mother Miquel Brown, a popular singer and member of the cast of Hair.
After appearing in a string of West End shows on her arrival in the UK, including Andrew Lloyd Webber's Cats, she made an impact on the charts with her single So Macho.
In 1987, Top Boy went to number four in the charts and stayed in the top 20 for an impressive eight weeks.
Around this time, she famously hooked up with a little known actor named Brad Pitt.
The pair dated for two years but shy and retiring Brad found it difficult to keep up with his party-loving girlfriend and the relationship fell apart.
In a previous interview with Maxim magazine, Sinitta said: 'I think I was too wild for him!
'I was really young and at the peak of my career and I didn't want to sit and be romantic and eat dinner at home.'
The star also had success with Cross My Broken Heart, Right Back Where We Started From and Love On A Mountain Top in the 1990s.
In total, Sinitta released three solo albums: Sinitta! in 1987, Wicked in 1989 and Naughty Naughty in 1995.
She then reunited with Simon for opening season of The X Factor, where she picked the eventual winner of the series Steve Brookstein as one of her final three acts for the live show.
Sinitta also picked Leona Lewis for Simon in the third season of the show, with the singer going on to become one of The X Factor's biggest success stories.
In 2010, she did an even better job, advising Simon to choose One Direction at the Judges' Houses stage.
The year prior, Sinitta became one of the presenters on spin-off show The Xtra Factor and even claimed she had 'revamped' the series when she returned in 2016.
Throughout the 2000s and 2010s she appeared on Loose Women as a presenter and also featured on the 11th series of I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here.
The pop star also took part in Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway in 2016 as a recurring character before showing up on Celebs Go Dating.
