Sheffield football clubs ban 22 people after derby disorder
Over 20 people believed to have been involved in disorder at a match between Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday have been banned from the grounds of both clubs.Trouble broke out at Sheffield United's stadium at Bramall Lane before and after the side's derby clash with Sheffield Wednesday on 10 November.A total of 22 individuals had since been identified and banned by the clubs from attending future matches, according to South Yorkshire Police.A force spokesperson said 10 people had already been charged in connection with the disorder, while others awaited charging decisions from the Crown Prosecution Service or remained under investigation.
Two of the offenders had received court-imposed football banning orders, police said.Failure to comply with the requirements of such orders can lead to imprisonment of up to six months and a fine of up to £5,000.Ch Supt Cherie Buttle, from South Yorkshire Police, said: "As a force, we do not tolerate any kind of disorder, whether this is at football matches or elsewhere."We work very closely with all our local football clubs to ensure anti-social behaviour or violence is dealt with effectively and efficiently."Banning orders helped police deal with people who "persistently cause issues" or committed football-related offences, Ch Supt Buttle said.The force was continuing to work with Sheffield City Council ahead of the next Sheffield derby due to take place on 16 March at Hillsborough Stadium, she added.

However, he was sacked in May with the team in the automatic promotion places with just two games to go. They eventually got promoted back to the Bundesliga and now betting sites are offering just 2/1 on Struber returning to English football as the new boss of Bristol City. Ex-Premier League Bosses Also in The Race Former Luton Town manager Rob Edwards was previously the joint favourite for the role, with the 42-year-old having been sacked in January after a run of defeats in the Championship. Though the Hatters ended up getting relegated, Edwards' reputation is still solid having guided Luton to an unlikely promotion to the Premier League in 2023 and he's currently a coach in demand with bookmakers making him a strong candidate in the next Middlesbrough manager odds too. As for Selles, he presumably did not instil much confidence in prospective suitors when he was sacked by Hull having almost fallen to relegation. That leaves one other candidate at 20/1 – former Norwich caretaker boss Jack Wilshere. The ex-England and Arsenal midfielder took charge of the Canaries for the final matches of the season but left the club after being informed that he wasn't being considered for the full-time job, and despite plenty of time as an assistant, it may be seen as too much of a jump to give someone so inexperienced a top role at this stage in his career. 'I know how good I am, I know I can perform at that level, and in the future I know what I need to do to stay more at my level. 'Sometimes you've got to take a step back to properly look at it and that's when I came out of the team. It was really hard to take at the time but when you take a step back and realise how I was actually performing, it is what it is. 'I don't really go on social media or anything, I try to live in my own bubble, but at the time when results aren't going well and you aren't performing at the level you can you know you're going to get criticised. I have no issue being criticised if I know I'm not performing to the level I can.' Beadle is now focused firmly on the Euros - and he insists that Lee Carsley's squad can match anybody at the tournament as the Young Lions look to secure back-to-back Euro success. He added: 'We're at least on par if not better when you look at the talent in this squad. We can definitely compete and try to turn them over. 'It's been a long build-up now to the tournament and the main goal for us is winning. As a country now we want to start winning things and it starts at youth ages like Under-21s so that's what we want to do.' England kick-off their Euro campaign against the Czech Republic on Thursday. They then face Slovenia three days later and finish the group stage against Germany on Wednesday 18 June with all of the Young Lions' matches being broadcast on Channel 4.
