At least 67 children dead from hunger in Gaza
In a statement issued Saturday, the office warned that the death toll could rise sharply in the coming weeks, with over 650,000 children under the age of five now facing severe and potentially fatal malnutrition due to the continued denial of food, medicine, and fuel.
'Starvation is now killing what bombs have not,' the statement read, calling the ongoing blockade 'one of the most extreme forms of collective punishment in modern history.'
The media office said dozens of additional child deaths were recorded in just the past three days alone, attributing them to Israel's obstruction of critical humanitarian supplies such as flour, infant formula, and life-saving medical aid.
The statement accused Israel of 'deliberately pursuing a policy of mass starvation,' and said approximately 1.25 million people in Gaza are now enduring catastrophic levels of hunger.
It added that 96% of the population, including more than one million children, suffers from acute food insecurity.The Gaza Government Media Office held Israel fully responsible for what it called a 'systematic and organized starvation campaign,' and extended legal and moral culpability to its international allies for their support or silence.'We are sounding the alarm: this is a mass death sentence unfolding before the eyes of the world,' the statement said. 'Immediate international intervention is not optional, it's a matter of life or death.'Israel's military offensive on the Gaza Strip, which began on Oct. 7, 2023, has so far killed more than 57,800 Palestinians, the majority of them women and children, according to local authorities.The campaign, coupled with a strict blockade, has decimated Gaza's infrastructure, disrupted food supply chains, and triggered widespread outbreaks of disease.In November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant over alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity committed in Gaza.Separately, the International Court of Justice is hearing a case accusing Israel of genocide over its military campaign in the enclave. — Agencies

Israeli settlers attack Christian West Bank village
Israeli settlers attacked the Christian Palestinian village of Taybeh in the occupied West Bank, torching cars and spray-painting threatening graffiti, the Palestinian Authority said Monday. 'Israeli colonial settlers launched a terror attack tonight on the Christian Palestinian village of Taybeh (Ramallah), setting fire to Palestinian vehicles and spray-painting racist threats in Hebrew on homes and property,' the Ramallah-based authority wrote on X. A Taybeh resident, speaking anonymously for safety reasons, told AFP the attack occurred at about 2:00 am (2300 GMT), with at least two vehicles burned. They said one vehicle belonged to a journalist, while noting the damage appeared to target Palestinian property broadly. A photo shared by a Palestinian government agency on X showed graffiti on a Taybeh wall that read: 'Al-Mughayyir, you will regret,' referring to a nearby village that was also attacked by settlers earlier this year. The Palestinian Authority's foreign ministry condemned the attack, calling it 'settler terrorism.' Germany's ambassador to Israel, Steffen Seibert, also condemned it, writing on X: 'These extremist settlers may claim that God gave them the land. But they are nothing but criminals abhorrent to any faith.' Taybeh and its surroundings have experienced several bouts of settler violence in recent months, including an arson attack at an ancient Byzantine church. Yemen's Houthis threaten to target ships linked to firms dealing with Israeli ports
Yemen's Houthis said on Sunday they would target any ships belonging to companies that do business with Israeli ports, regardless of their nationalities, as part of what they called the fourth phase of their military operations against Israel. In a televised statement, the Houthis' military spokesperson warned that ships would be attacked if companies ignored their warnings, regardless of their destination. 'The Yemeni Armed Forces call on all countries, if they want to avoid this escalation, to pressure the enemy to halt its aggression and lift the blockade on the Gaza Strip,' he added. Since Israel's war in Gaza began in October 2023, the Iran-aligned Houthis have been attacking ships they deem as bound or linked to Israel in what they say are acts of solidarity with Palestinians.
