Emerging technologies are changing the world of sports. While athletes are benefiting from improved feedback on performance, fan engagement is being enhanced with immersive experiences.
The National Sports Policy 2025, announced early this month, focuses on new tools for improving all categories. It wants to 'leverage emerging technologies, including AI [artificial intelligence] and data analytics, for performance tracking, research, and programme implementation.' The policy says the country must encourage the adoption of sports science, medicine, and technology to boost athletic performance.

Hyundai Creta celebrates 10 years. Here's a look at the popular SUV

The Hyundai Creta has completed ten years in the Indian market, having first launched in July 2015. Over the past decade, the SUV has gone from being a newcomer in the mid-size segment to becoming a consistent performer in terms of volume and visibility, reflecting broader changes in consumer preferences and the SUV market in India. The Creta entered a space that, at the time, had just two prominent players. By 2025, that number has grown to over a dozen models, underscoring the rise in demand for mid-size SUVs. Despite increased competition, Hyundai has managed to maintain the Creta's position at or near the top of the sales charts every year since launch. In India, the SUV competes with rivals like the Honda Elevate, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, and Skoda Kushaq. According to Hyundai Motor India, the Creta has sold over 12 lakh units in the domestic market since its debut. In 2016, it recorded 92,926 units in annual sales, which nearly doubled to 1,86,919 units by 2024. In the first half of 2025, it was among the top-selling SUVs and even led overall vehicle sales in three of those six months. Internal figures shared by the company suggest the Creta holds over 31 per cent of the mid-size SUV market. Notably, its share of first-time car buyers has increased from 12 per cent in 2020 to 29 per cent in 2024, while sunroof-equipped versions made up about 70 per cent of its sales in early 2025, indicating a broader shift in buyer expectations and priorities within the segment. The Creta's decade-long run coincides with a significant transformation in how Indian buyers view SUVs. Features like panoramic sunroofs, connected car tech, and multiple engine-transmission options have become increasingly important. As the mid-size SUV category expands with newer entrants across price bands, the model's continued relevance points to the changing criteria by which customers now evaluate vehicles. The Creta is also exported to over 13 countries, with 2.87 lakh units shipped overseas. It's available with petrol, diesel, turbo-petrol, and electric powertrains, and comes with both manual and automatic transmissions.

R Ashwin Makes Stunning Claim On Rishabh Pant's Injury: 'Sensationalising News...'

Former Indian cricket team spinner R Ashwin believes that Rishabh Pant was never doubtful for the fourth Test match against England at Old Trafford. Pant did not keep wickets for the majority of the third Test due to a finger injury and Dhruv Jurel took up the responsility in his absence. However, Pant did bat in both innings. Ashwin said that Pant is rested and he should play the Test match before adding that he believes the doubts over his fitness were a 'way of sensationalizing news'. "I don't think there were any concerns about Pant. I don't understand how it became a concern. It is just a way of sensationalizing news I feel. How much can a finger injury be if the finger is not broken? There will be a little bit impact obviously. If there would not have been a rule for a substitute keeper you would have seen Rishabh Pant keep even in the last game. It is a good thing that he rested himself and came back to bat but it was never a matter of concern. If the finger wasn't broken he was anyway going to keep in the fourth Test," Ashwin said on his YouTube channel. India have suffered a number of injury concerns recently with Arshdeep Singh, Akash Deep and Nitish Kumar Reddy also out of contention. However, Ashwin said that India are superior to England skill-wise and they should not have any worries despite trailing 1-2 in the five-match series. "This England team, man to man, will not match India skills wise. Looking at how Siraj and Bumrah bowled, if you bring Anshul Kamboj in, I'm telling you that is a serious bowling attack. People will tell he hasn't played but he was there on the A tour. He's been in cracking form in first-class cricket. He is used to bowling long spells and you need that in England. He will be a really good foil for Siraj and Bumrah. Prasidh is also an option but I would rather go with Anshul," he said.

Rishabh Pant Fit To Keep Wickets In 4th Test? Video From Practice Session Says So

The fourth Test between India and England will kick-start from Wednesday, July 23 in Manchester. Already trailing 1-2 in the five-match series, Shubman Gill and co are eager to bounce in order to level the series. Ahead of the fourth Test, India faced several injury blows as all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy got ruled out due to a left knee injury. Apart from him, pacer Arshdeep Singh also sustained an injury on his left thumb and has been ruled out of the fourth Test, replaced by Anshul Kamboj. As the Indian camp is dealing with so many setbacks, one player who will be in focus is Rishabh Pant. The wicketkeeper-batter only donned the wicketkeeping gloves for 35 overs in the third Test as he suffered a finger injury. Dhruv Jurel did the wicketkeeper's job while Pant came only to bat. There were many questions regarding Pant's role in the upcoming Test but a recent video from the practice session made things a bit clear. In a video shared by PTI on X (formerly Twitter), Pant was seen participating in the wicketkeeping training. He was also seen doing some catching practice, hinting towards his return as a wicketkeeper in the fourth Test. VIDEO | Indian wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant (@RishabhPant17) resumes his keeping duty during the practice session at the Old Trafford Cricket stadium in Manchester, UK after sustaining an injury in the last Test. #RishabhPant #indiavsengland — Press Trust of India (@PTI_News) July 21, 2025 Considering he performed keeping drills and batted pain free for an hour, Pant looks fit enough to start the fourth Test. Pant is always up for some banter even with his own teammates and that was evident when he shared the nets with skipper Shubman Gill. There is also speculation over Karun Nair 's slot in the playing eleven but he batted with plenty of purpose. So was the case with Sai Sudharsan, who could replace Nair in the playing eleven. The southpaw was also seen taking catching practice in the slip cordon. As Akash Deep is also recovering from a groin injury, there are chances that Anshul Kamboj might find himself a place in the Playing XI, alongside Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj.
