C295 lands in Uttarkashis Dharasu with relief material
Uttarkashi (Uttarakhand) [India], August 11 (ANI): Transport aircraft C295 landed at Dharasu town in Uttarkashi district from Agra on Sunday morning with personnel, technicians, and relief material for conducting rescue and relief operations, said defence officials. A massive mudslide struck Dharali village in the Kheer Gad area near Harsil, triggering a sudden flow of debris and water through the settlements on August 5. The cloudburst led to flash floods in the high-altitude villages of Dharali. Several houses were reported to have been swept Uttarakhand Director General of Police Deepam Seth on Sunday reviewed the first phase of relief and rescue operations being carried out under the direction of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami after the natural disaster in Dharali and Harshil areas of Seth conducted a high-level review of the upcoming action plan at Police Headquarters in Dehradun. All senior police officers and team leaders of various branches of police – SDRF, fire service, PAC, telecom, etc., who were sent for effective conduct of relief and rescue operations in Uttarkashi district, attended the the meeting, the DGP took updated information of relief and rescue operations from all the officers – ADG L/O, IG PAC, IG SDRF, IG Telecom, IG Fire, IG L/O, IG SDRF, IG Garhwal Range, DIG L/O etc and appreciated the efforts made so far by the forces working at the site of the second phase of the action plan was discussed in detail in the meeting, and it was decided that in the second phase of relief and rescue, special focus will be given on the search and rescue the meeting, the DGP directed the Incident Commander (Search & Rescue) to coordinate with DM / SP Uttarkashi, Army / ITBP / NDRF / BRO / PWD / Health Department and all other agencies, divide the site of incident into different sectors, determine their responsibilities and prepare a concrete strategy to carry out search and rescue DGP also directed that an adequate number of SDRF, Fire, PAC and Police forces should be immediately deployed strategically at Dharali and Harshil sites to speed up the search and rescue requested that an accurate list of missing persons be prepared by coordinating with local citizens, village representatives, and the district administration. This list would then be used to prioritise the search operation and ensure necessary legal the DGP further directed that the deep, dangerous and slushy areas present at the site should be immediately red-flagged from the security point of view, so that search can be done using special equipment during the search DGP also directed that the search operation should be intensified by making full use of technical and human resource capacity, like drones, thermal imaging cameras, victim locating cameras and dog DGP directed everyone to remain on 24×7 alert mode and ensure real-time reporting of every activity, so that quick decisions can be taken in case of any need or emergency. 566 Evacuated From Flood-Hit Uttarkashi, Rescue On For 300 More: Government
Uttarkashi (Uttarakhand): The Uttarakhand government on Friday said that a total of 566 people have been evacuated till noon from disaster-hit areas of Dharali and Harsil in Uttarkashi district, where massive flash floods disrupted normal life. The evacuation of nearly 300 more stranded individuals is currently underway, according to state authorities. The Indian Army is using dog squads, drones, and ground-penetrating radar for search and rescue operations in the area. Director General of Police (DGP) Deepam Seth visited Uttarkashi to oversee the ongoing rescue and relief measures. DGP Seth has reached Uttarkashi to inspect the site of the incident and take stock of the rescue operations. After landing at Matli helipad, he left for Harshil after meeting the Chief Minister. He reviewed the rescue operations by holding a meeting with the police officers in Matli, and gave necessary instructions to everyone to speed up the relief and rescue operations. Meanwhile, the construction of a makeshift Valley Bridge on the Gangotri National Highway is progressing swiftly. The highway was blocked following the collapse of the Limcha Gad bridge near Gangnani, cutting off access to higher Himalayan regions. Restoration efforts are also underway to reopen roads in Harsil and Dharali, which were severely impacted by the deluge. Earlier in the day, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami chaired a high-level meeting with senior officials from key rescue and security agencies to take stock of ongoing relief and rescue operations in the rain-affected Uttarkashi district.

Uttarakhand: Schools declare holiday in 3 districts amid monsoon devastation
Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], August 5 (ANI): The Uttarakhand government, in view of the rain warning in the state, and the prevailing disaster situation in the Uttarkashi district has declared holiday from class 1 to 12 and all anganwadi centres in the Champawat, Pauri, and Udham Singh Nagar state's Department of Information and Public Relations, posted on X, as translated from Hindi, 'In view of the weather department's rain warning in Uttarakhand, a holiday has been declared for all schools from class 1 to 12 and Anganwadi centers in the state's Champawat, Pauri, and Udham Singh Nagar districts."Meanwhile, as Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami took stock of the disaster situation from Dehradun's Disaster Control Room, he ordered for district administration to 'remain on 24-hour alert mode," while also making sure that ambulances services in and around Dharali. The leaves of all medical officers and staff have also been cancelled. 'Instructions have been given to the administration to remain on 24-hour alert mode to ensure that the affected are transported to safe locations, provided with necessary medical and relief supplies, given better treatment for the injured, and extended every possible assistance. Instructions have also been issued to keep the 108 ambulance service on high alert in the areas around Dharali and to immediately cancel the leaves of all medical officers and staff," CM Dhami posted on X. In view of the heavy rainfall, helpline numbers will remain active 24/7, and the Chief Minister has urged people to follow guidelines and avoid any unnecessary travel. Keeping in view the seriousness of the natural disaster in Dharali area of Uttarkashi district, senior police officers and special police forces have been immediately deployed for effective conduct of relief and rescue operations, the state government has said. Senior officers of Indian Police Service Inspector General of Police SDRF Arun Mohan Joshi, Inspector General of Police Garhwal Range, Rajiv Swaroop, Pradeep Kumar Rai, Amit Srivastava (First) and Surjeet Singh Panwar, Shweta Choubey, one Deputy Commandant and 11 Deputy SPs have been immediately sent to Uttarkashi, who will lead the relief and coordination Seth, Director General of Police, Uttarakhand said, 'The pain and loss caused by this natural disaster in Uttarkashi is extremely sad. The police department is giving top priority to relief work with all resources and human sensibilities. Our effort is to ensure that every affected person gets quick assistance. The police force has been instructed to carry out relief and rescue work continuously 24×7."The Chamoli Police have also issued an advisory to people living near the banks of the Pinder River in the Tharali area to be cautious of the expected water level rise in the coming days, according to the Meteorological Department. 'All citizens residing along the banks of the Pinder River in the Tharali area are informed that the Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy rainfall in the coming days, and a continuous rise in the water level of the Pinder River has been observed," Chamoli Police posted on X. Till now, the Army, Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have rescued over 130 people, while efforts to find the others missing and stranded are underway.
