Nara Lokesh meets Tony Blair in Delhi, discusses on AI and Skill Development
Andhra Pradesh's Education, IT, and Electronics Minister, Nara Lokesh, is currently on his second day of meetings in Delhi, where he engaged in discussions with former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, founder of the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change (TBI). The focus of their meeting revolved around enhancing government initiatives through artificial intelligence (AI) in education and addressing skill development and employment for the youth.
The two leaders convened at the Taj Palace, following a previous meeting in Mumbai last July. Their discussions resulted in a signed agreement aimed at improving youth employment opportunities via advanced technology in the educational sector. This partnership enables TBI to provide technical support for the skill development agenda in Andhra Pradesh, including the implementation of a skill census and efforts to facilitate youth employment abroad.
In addition, Minister Lokesh invited Blair to join the Advisory Board of the forthcoming Global Institute for Good Governance, reinforcing the collaborative effort between the Andhra Pradesh government and TBI. The review also touched upon reforms in higher education sparked by the established agreement in December 2024.
Blair confirmed that TBI would participate in the upcoming Conclave of State Education Ministers scheduled for August in Visakhapatnam, marking a significant step in the ongoing collaboration. Education Secretary Kona Shashidhar and TBI representatives were present during the productive meeting.

Srinagar, June 19 (UNI) J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday took a ride on the newly launched Vande Bharat Express from Srinagar to Katra, officials said. Omar was accompanied by his advisor, Nasir Aslam Wani. ' Omar boarded the Vande Bharat train for Katra from the Nowgam Railway Station this morning,' an official said. " He will later head to Jammu." This comes just nine days after his father, veteran politician and National Conference President Farooq Abdullah, also travelled on the same train to Katra. The Vande Bharat Express, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, began operations on June 7 and has quickly gained immense popularity among locals, pilgrims, and tourists. The two semi-high-speed trains now connect the Kashmir Valley to Jammu's Katra town via Banihal, operating six days a week, with Wednesday as the only non-operational day. Most of the train's services are already fully booked, reflecting the public enthusiasm for this long-awaited project. At the train's official launch event on June 6, Omar Abdullah had lauded the development as a historic milestone. ‘No, Air India CEO is not an SIA nominee.' Tata Group Chairman N Chandrasekaran hits back at Praful Patel, defends Singapore Airlines
NEW DELHI: Tata Group and Air India Chairperson N Chandrasekaran on Wednesday hit back at former civil aviation minister Praful Patel who had raised questions over the culpability of Singapore Airlines (SIA) in June 12's fatal Air India Flight AI‑171 crash. The Tata top boss came out in strong defence of SIA, which is a partner of Air India, while pledging transparency and enhanced safety oversight. On Wednesday morning, Patel in a tweet on X (formerly known as Twitter), termed SIA's public silence as 'deafening'. The former civil aviation minister pointed out that in the aftermath of the Ahmedabad crash, 'there remains a surprising silence — or perhaps ignorance — about the role of a substantial shareholder, and the entity responsible for maintaining a large number, if not all, of Air India's wide-body aircraft.' 'They seem to be in hiding' In a no-holds-barred attack on SIA, the 68-year-old Rajya Sabha member accused the airline of playing a behind-the-scenes role in the crash that killed over 270 people in Ahmedabad on June 12 and wrote, 'They seem to be in hiding.' 'Let's not forget — they have a say in management and a codeshare agreement with Air India,' he captioned his tweet. He categorically questioned whether 'Campbell Wilson, the CEO of Air India, is a nominee of Singapore Airlines,' implying SIA had undue influence and responsibility. 'No, Air India CEO is not an SIA nominee.' Hours after his tweet, N Chandrasekaran, via an interview to television channel Times Now, refuted these claims. 'No, the CEO is not a nominee of Singapore Airlines. In fact, when he was hired by me, he had to quit Singapore Airlines and join Air India as an employee,' he said.
