‘Serious errors' in SSC evaluation a blot on the government, say student organisations
Leaders of student organisations have slammed the TDP-led coalition government for 'serious errors' in the evaluation of SSC answer sheets, and have accused it of failing the student community. All India Student Federation (AISF) State vice-president Sai Kumar said, in the haste to release the SSC results in record time and gain mileage out of it, the persons handling the evaluation task lost focus and delivered inaccurate results. He said, for the first time in history, as many as 66,363 students applied for re-evaluation and, out of them, over 11,000, who were earlier declared failed, now passed. Their percentage of marks also significantly increased. Stating that the inaccurate results caused immense disappointment to many students, he said there were reports of a few distraught students attempting suicide. Mr. Sai Kumar said it was unfortunate that despite such gross mistake, HRD Minister Nara Lokesh had not made any statement on the issue so far. Student Federation of India State president P. Rammohan Rao and secretary K. Prasanna Kumar accused the government of finding scapegoats in teachers for its own failures. They alleged that the authorities were in a hurry to commence Intermediate classes in favour of the corporate institutions. They said drifting from the usual practice of allocating 15 days' time for completion of evaluation, the government brought pressure on teachers to wind up in a week, leading to the errors. Citing examples, they said a student named Mokshitha secured 21 marks in Social Studies initially, but scored 84 after re-evaluation, another student from Bapatla scored 23 marks in Social Studies, but secured 96 after re-evaluation, and in Eluru, a student wrote a 14-page answer, but only eight pages were evaluated. Stating that the students suffered immensely due to the government's negligence, they demanded that action against teachers should be dropped and the re-evaluation fees collected from students should be refunded.

No change in schedule of Mega DSC: Andhra Pradesh govt
VIJAYAWADA: The State government has made it clear that the Mega DSC-2025 examination will be held as scheduled from June 6, dismissing the widespread demand on social media from aspirants for its postponement. In a statement issued on Friday, the School Education Department clarified that any delay in conducting the exam will jeopardise the future of 2.45 lakh candidates, and disrupt the academic year for lakhs of school students. The government reiterated that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu signed the Mega DSC file on June 13, 2024, soon after assuming office as part of his commitment to strengthen the education system in the State, and fulfil the aspirations of unemployed youth. Under the leadership of HRD Minister Nara Lokesh, the government initiated the process to fill 16,347 teacher posts, and ensured that the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) was conducted transparently twice. The Mega DSC syllabus was uploaded on the official website in November 2024, giving aspirants more than six months to prepare for the exam. Responding to the aspirants' plea for over a 90-day preparation period post-notification, the government explained that the recruitment process was initiated with the issuance of GO No. 27 on June 13, 2024, and candidates were given ample time to qualify through two TETs.

Let's set aside egos, there will be no divorce, says Andhra Minister Nara Lokesh
KADAPA: TDP national general secretary and HRD Minister Nara Lokesh has emphasised the importance of unity in governance and the need for political humility. Addressing a massive public gathering as part of the TDP Mahanadu in Kadapa on Thursday, he said the TDP-JSP-BJP alliance, with the full support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is working efficiently to develop the State on all fronts. Lokesh called for humility in leadership, drawing lessons from the previous regime's downfall. 'Arrogance destroyed the past rulers. From 151 seats, they were reduced to just 11. Power should never disconnect us from the ground. We should serve people whether we are in power or not,' he stressed. Addressing concerns within the alliance, he acknowledged minor issues but emphasised unity. 'Even small families have internal issues. In an alliance, it is natural. But we should put egos aside and work together. Write this down - there will be no break-up. If we want the State to prosper and people to be happy, we should stay united,' he asserted. Lokesh underscored the importance of government continuity for sustained progress. Reflecting on the development achieved during 2014-19, he said the change in government in 2019 halted Andhra Pradesh's development momentum, and sent it back by 30 years due to poor governance.

Kadapa turns into a sea of yellow on final day of TDP's Mahanadu
Kadapa: The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) showcased its strength by making the three-day Mahanadu a grand success, with Kadapa transforming into a sea of yellow on the final day of the conclave. TDP national general secretary Nara Lokesh proved his point that Kadapa is no longer a stronghold of rival YSRCP, with a stunning turnout at the public meeting. The enthusiasm of the leaders and cadres indicated that Kadapa can no longer be considered a fortress of YSRCP. The TDP alliance won seven assembly constituencies out of 10 in the erstwhile Kadapa district in the 2024 elections, and TDP supremo Chandrababu Naidu has set a target of winning all 10 seats in the next elections. The party leadership was jubilant after witnessing the massive crowd at the public meeting. Thanks to the cool climate, party activists enthusiastically reached the venue, holding party flags and cycle symbols. All routes to Kadapa from across the state were packed, with thousands of vehicles stranded on roads, prompting TDP fans to walk for several kilometers to reach the venue. Although the TDP leadership designated around 500 acres of land for parking vehicles about 5 km away from the venue, thousands of vehicles were compelled to park almost 10-15 km away due to the traffic jam on the outskirts. Ahmed Khan, a septuagenarian, remarked, "I have never seen such a huge crowd in Kadapa town in my life." Several legislators rushed party activists from their constituencies in special buses, with senior leaders organizing breakfast, lunch, and water for the activists. Finance Minister Peyyavula Keshav observed, "The turnout clearly indicates that we are on the right track. The grand show of strength reflects the faith of people in the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and the young and dynamic leadership of Nara Lokesh." Taking the inputs from the party leaders into consideration, R&B minister BC Janardhan Reddy and his team set up makeshift food stalls all along the route to provide food to party activists even before they reach the venue. He directed his team members to ensure that no party activist complains about the shortage of food anywhere near Kadapa. The decision to set up food stalls away from the venue was taken in view of the traffic jams on the highways. While it took nearly 2-3 hours to reach the venue after entering Kadapa city, it took more than five hours to move out of the city during their return journey. Several legislators and senior leaders were also stranded in the traffic due to the flood of TDP activists in the city. Legislators particularly from Chittoor, Kurnool, Ananthapuram, Nellore, Prakasam and Kadapa shouldered additional responsibility in moving the party activists to the public meeting.

Ride along Vizag Beach Road on double-decker bus to be a reality soon
Ever dreamt of travelling along the scenic Beach Road from RK Beach to Bheemunipatnam in a double-decker open-top bus, covering the pristine coastline on one side and lush green hills on the other? Well, it may become a reality soon as the Greater Visakhapatnam Smart City Corporation Limited (GVSCCL), in collaboration with the Tourism Department, is planning to introduce double-decker bus services, covering key tourist hotspots in Visakhapatnam. The Ashok Leyland Group donated a double-decker bus to the Andhra Pradesh government to promote tourism in the State. IT and HRD Minister Nara Lokesh has ensured that the bus is allocated to Visakhapatnam, recognising the strong tourism potential of the city. Tender floated Building on this, the GVSCCL, with the support of the Tourism Department, is planning to procure two more double-decker buses by using the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds. Tenders (Request for Proposal) have already been floated for this purpose and the last date for accepting the proposals is May 31. Chief Engineer G. Siva Prasad Raju states that the new service will operate on a 'hop-on, hop-off' model, providing tourists with an innovative and flexible way to explore the city's tourist attractions. 'For example, a tourist can board the bus at RK Beach and get off at Tenneti Park to spend some time there and hop onto another bus to reach Rushikonda. The buses will operate on a circuit, with high frequency to suit passengers' needs, allowing tourists to explore the city at their own pace,' he explains. Of the three proposed bus services, two will feature closed-top decks, while one will have an open-top design. The decision has been taken, keeping in the view of the local weather conditions and preferences of tourists. The authorities are yet to finalise the routes and fare structures. The initial plan focuses on the Beach Road stretch from RK Beach to Bheemunipatnam, which features a string of tourist spots including Kursura Submarine Museum, Visakha Museum, Kailasagiri Ropeway, Tenneti Park, Jodugullapalem View Point, Rushikonda Beach, and Erra Matti Dibbalu. Future expansions may include other popular locations such as the Simhachalam temple and One Town.
