CAs must possess advanced technical knowledge: Lokesh
Guntur: Minister for Human Resources Development and Information Technology, Nara Lokesh, emphasized that Chartered Accountants (CAs) must possess advanced technical knowledge, global awareness, AI-based communication skills, and ethical integrity. He acknowledged that while the course may be challenging, it prepares youth to reach their highest potential, comparing the difficulty of obtaining a CA degree to the process of making a diamond. He addressed the mega CA student conference 'Sphoorthi,' organised by the ICAI Guntur Chapter at Bandlamudi Gardens in Guntur on Saturday. Speaking on the occasion, he mentioned that as part of the Viksit Bharat vision, Prime Minister Modi has set a goal for India to achieve a $30 trillion economy by 2047, with Andhra Pradesh contributing $2.4 trillion to this target. Although he is not a Chartered Accountant himself, Lokesh, a Stanford MBA graduate, expressed his understanding of the importance of this profession. He stated, 'Whenever there's a lack of clarity in business, we turn to our CAs. In governance, no government document requiring budgetary approval can proceed without an auditor's stamp. We trust Chartered Accountants to uphold faith in the system. Every rupee earned and every job created has a CA behind it. Our government values the input of CAs and includes them in policymaking. You don't just certify balance sheets.'

Lokesh tells CAs to be acquainted and updated with their subject
IT and HRD Minister Nara Lokesh on Saturday called upon the chartered accountants (CA) to be fully acquainted and updated with their subject and gear up to handle advanced technologies like artificial intelligence (AI). He also appreciated the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) for being the first in the world to implement forensic accounting standards. Addressing a mega student meet of the ICAI titled 'Spoorthi'in Guntur, Mr. Lokesh said that despite completing 76 years, the institute remained an accounting powerhouse and has been a major strength of the Indian financial system. He observed that the importance of CA could be understood from the fact that every budget-approved file required an auditor's seal, and added they were drivers of the country's economic growth. The State government has always valued the inputs given by the ICAI on various matters of financial administration and would keep consulting it for policymaking, he added. Want to see ‘Admissions Closed' board outside government schools, says HRD Minister Lokesh
Human Resources Development (HRD) Minister Nara Lokesh on Friday said he looked forward to seeing 'Admissions Closed' boards outside government schools — a sign, he noted, that parents trust the quality of education in State-run institutions. He made the remark while felicitating Yelamanchili Durga Bhavani, headmistress of Zilla Parishad High School, Penamaluru (Krishna district), for her outstanding dedication and achievements. Mr. Lokesh said improving educational quality and boosting enrolment were top priorities for the government. Highlighting Ms. Durga Bhavani's accomplishments, the Minister said 54 students from her school scored above 500 marks in the 2025 SSC exams, while seven secured seats in IIITs. For three consecutive years, her students have consistently earned National Means-cum-Merit (NMM) scholarships. Her school has also achieved several milestones under her leadership — it was the first government school in the State to host a 'Graduation Day,' be selected under the PM SHRI Yojana, and introduce wall art, dance and music classes, and computer training through community engagement. It has also become a hub for student innovation under the Atal Tinkering Lab initiative. Calling her a role model for educators, Mr. Lokesh said his interactions with grassroots-level teachers have helped him better understand on-ground challenges and opportunities.
