Coronation Street character 'still alive and set to join soap' as fake death 'rumbled'
There could be a return from the dead for a Coronation Street character, with fans claiming to have spotted some clues.
The character in question was murdered offscreen years earlier, while we only learned of their existence in the past year or so. Becky Swain was the mother of teen Betsy Swain, and the wife of detective Lisa Swain.
Lisa has opened up about the loss of her partner in the line of duty a fair few times, and more recently she was forced to face her past when she opened up in therapy. The death was revisited recently more than once with newcomers Matty and Logan Radcliffe, earlier this year, with their link to the death revealed.
Details about what led to Becky's death, and rumours of her being corrupt ahead of her demise, have kept the plot and the mystery of it going. With that, the constant mentions of her and the desire to know what really happened has left fans questioning if there's more to be revealed, and more to happen.
Amid new spoilers teasing a twist about Lisa's new partner Carla Connor, which we will not share in case fans have yet to see it, fans are wondering if an almighty bombshell will be dropped soon. While plenty of fans are willing to bet Becky is very much dead, and some are calling for the speculation of her being alive to end, other fans can't drop the idea that Becky may be in hiding.
The theory has once again been shared following new episodes and twists, with fans now once again convinced Becky will head to Weatherfield very much alive. Taking to social media one fan said: "What if Carla really does do a deep dive and finds out Becky is not only bent but also alive? What if those scenes at the park are her having to break the news to Lisa alongside the Private investigator?"
Another fan posted: "Feels like a juggernaut coming down the line but I could be wrong. Is Becky - deceased wife of DC Swain and mother of Betsy - not dead? My very much of a guess is - she was undercover as a bent copper, big scary criminals, faked death to save her family, witness protection, yadda yadda yadda and suddenly TA-DA!!!
"It's all the endless references and musings about a character we've never met. Feels like something's afoot. Also a handy nemesis for Carla? That's always a good thing."
A further post said: "I agree that the endless references about someone who we have never met is suspicious!" One torn fan then posted: "The only reason I think she has to be dead is surely a post mortem was carried out given the circumstances and surely Lisa had to identify her or saw her in her coffin." Another fan said: "Typical soap, if they don't die on screen, they're not actually dead."
The theory kept on being shared, with one fan writing: "Yeah, I don't recall exactly what it was, but before the footy break a Swarla convo made me say Becky isn't dead." Another viewer said: "Wouldn't surprise me if Becky's still alive."

The Chase's Darragh Ennis shares natural method to eliminate pesky house flies
The Chase's Darragh Ennis, also known as The Menace on the ITV quiz show, has a genius hack for keeping flies out of your home - and it's all natural and costs just £12 You could ward off flies this summer with a "brilliant" tip shared by The Chase star Darragh Ennis. As an entomologist, Darragh has a clever method to eliminate the insects from your home, especially if you have houseplants that draw them in. In a recent TikTok video, the 44-year-old TV personality, also known as The Menace on the ITV quiz show, shared a straightforward and natural approach to tackle the small black flies that can prove troublesome during the summer months. These pests, called fungus gnats, can be "really hard" to eradicate and frequently inhabit houseplants, creating annoyance and prompting many people to abandon their plants entirely. Darragh said in his video: "If you've got little insects flying around your house, it can be really annoying. "Now, I'm an entomologist, so I love insects, but I still don't want those tiny little black flies all over my house, and they're really hard to get rid of - especially when they live in your houseplants. "They're called fungus gnats because they live in compost and stuff, and they're a big pest in mushroom growhouses and things. Getting rid of them with chemicals is really hard." Darragh recommends a strategy to maintain your houseplants whilst banishing the flies at the same time - utilising nematodes. He explained: "You've probably never heard of them, but they're little microscopic worms that live in the soil. "They're probably the most common animal on the planet, but we can't see them. There's billions upon billions upon billions of them." He continued: "One type of them crawls inside insects and kills them. Now, it's a bit gruesome, but it's a natural way of killing them. "You can just order these online. You just put these into a watering can and then pour them on your house plants. The best bit about this is that they crawl through the soil and hunts through the larvae and everything so they're gone. "So if you want to get rid of those little flies and you don't want loads of chemicals, buy some nematodes. I studied them for my PhD, and now they're useful in my house." Darragh also showed off the packet of nematodes he had bought online, branded as Sciarid Fly Nematodes, available on Amazon for roughly £12. How to ward off flies You can prevent flies from entering your home using several natural solutions, including utilising herbs and plants the pests despise the scent of. These include basil, lavender, mint, bay leaves, and marigold. Then you can also whip up an essential oil spray by mixing one cup of water, 10-15 drops of an essential oil such as peppermint, lemongrass, citronella, or lavender, and one tablespoon of vodka (optional, but aids in blending the oils) into a spray bottle and spritzing it around windows, doors, and other entry points in your home. Another popular method to keep flies at bay, especially tiny ones like fruit flies, is to create a homemade trap. This can be done by combining apple cider vinegar and washing up liquid in a bowl, covering it with cling film, and then piercing a few small holes in the top.

Good Morning Britain's Ed Balls leaves Charlotte Hawkins stunned with swipe at her 'podgy' appearance - as she warns him 'we'll have words after this'
Melvin Odoom had to intervene and diffuse tension while appearing on Tuesday's episode of Good Morning Britain 's after Ed Balls made a cheeky comment about his co-star Charlotte Hawkins. During the most recent episode of the ITV show, hosts Ed, 58, and Charlotte, 50, were chatting to Melvin, 44, about some of the showbiz headlines. One topic that got people talking about how singer Mariah Carey, 56, has said that 'aging just doesn't happen to her'. Just moments before they shared an old snap of the Ed on our screens, the broadcaster confessed: 'People look the same as when I was 21. But do I want that?' They then shared an old video of Charlotte showing off a white fitted coat while modelling on ITV's This Morning a number of years ago. Charlotte said: 'Oh don't show that one. No one wants to see that. There's a reason why people don't want to see that.' A shocked Melvin asked: 'When was that?!' to which Charlotte replied: 'It was on This Morning!' An intrigued Ed asked: 'Has Charlotte aged well or badly?' He continued: 'How have you aged? I think you have aged beautifully.' Charlotte said: 'Thank you Ed. That is very lovely of you to say.' Ed told her: 'You almost look younger than then. Then you were a bit more podgy.' Charlotte let out a big gasp as she was shocked with what he said. Melvin chimed in: 'Ed, Ed. Stop. Ed. Move on. I'm trying to help you my brother. Move on.' Moments after the segment wrapped up, Charlotte turned to her co-star and asked: 'Podgy?!' The show shared an old video of Charlotte showing off a white fitted coat while modelling on ITV's This Morning a number of years ago (pictured) Trying to get himself out of a very awkward situation, Ed told her: 'I think you look lovely.' Luckily Charlotte saw the funny side of things and said: 'We'll have words after this...' Last week Good Morning Britain viewers called for a presenter to be investigated by Ofcom as he hosted Tuesday's instalment of the ITV show. The latest episode of the programme saw Kate Garraway, 58, and Ed Balls, 58, return to our screens to discuss the latest headlines and newsworthy topics. During one segment the pair discussed the small boat crisis with Michael Gove, 57, and Kevin Maguire, 64. And some think that Ed shouldn't be involved in political interviews when his wife, Yvette Cooper, 56, is the Home Secretary. Some took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their thoughts. 'Ed Balls 'grilling' a Labour MP when you're wife's the Home Secretary should be investigated by OFCOM. It's not right...' 'Smug Ed Balls, whose wife is chief of command for protecting the public in this country, should pipe down.' 'I simply cannot stand Ed Balls, he is so smug and has a clear conflict of interest because his wife is a cabinet member (and not a good one either). His smug smile is so annoying!' 'Total embarrassment listening to #GMB this morning nearly every story mentioned by the panel is the actual responsibility of the Home just happens to be 'Mrs Ed Balls', the pointlessness of this 'chat' is truly appalling.' Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV1 from 6am and is available to stream on ITVX.

Helen Flanagan opens up on mum guilt as she admits to 'not being a team' with Scott Sinclair
The former Coronation Street star shared a candid post about her relationship with each of her three kids who she shares with former Celtic star Scott Sinclair. Helen Flanagan has opened up about her tough 'mum guilt' as she candidly discussed 'not being a team' with her ex Scott Sinclair, who she co-parents her three kids with. The former Corrie star shares children Matilda, nine, Delilah, six and Charlie, four, with the former Celtic star, who she was previously engaged to but split from in July 2022. Helen has always been very open and honest about the struggles she has faced with being a single parent. In an emotional new Instagram post, the 34-year-old reflected on some of her favourite memories with her kids from this year so far as she posted a series of sweet videos and snaps with her little ones. She captioned the heartfelt post: "Looked back at some of my favourite times with the kids this year. Found motherhood hard recently, I've felt overwhelmed and stressed the majority of the time and I want to get back to when I'm present and I'm really in it and I'm really enjoying it. "I always wanted to be a mum. I get mum guilt with Matilda as I feel like I'm always preoccupied with her brother, I can't give her the energy that I want to give her and I feel like she always sees me at my worst. "I also feel like she needs calm which I can never be. Delilah, I feel like I'm getting it right with her and I feel like our bond is tight, so that's something not to beat myself up about. Charlie, I could pull my hair out sometimes, I feel like I've got the male version of me. "Co parenting is hard and not being a team together and not being able to talk about your anxieties and worries for the kids. I suppose you can only do your best and be kind to yourself but I wanted these on my grid for me as they make my soul happy." Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! After candidly opening up about how she has individual mothering struggles with each child, fans rushed to the comments to offer their support and reassurance. One wrote: "You've got three gorgeous, happy kids there so you're definitely doing something right! Don't be so hard on yourself, being a parent is tough but you've got this. One step at a time." A second commented: "Juggling three kids is a super power I'm sure. U got this strong momma." A third replied, referring to Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder, which Helen suffers from. PMDD is a severe form of premenstrual syndrome characterised by intense emotional and physical symptoms that significantly disrupt daily life. The fan said: "You're a fab mummy to your little beauties and your kids always look so happy. I have PMDD too and it's awful. Can really make you feel so anxious but honestly, you're doing great." Another mother, who found Helen's post relatable, wrote: "So relatable to read this has made me feel so much better as it's exactly how I feel on my own with my babies , like my eldest doesn't always get the best of me , constantly trying to spilt yourself, your time , your energy, leaving nothing for yourself and still feeling guilty." Helen and Scott were together for 13 years before they split in the summer of 2022. The actress, who has been very open about her mental health in the past, was diagnosed with psychosis last year. Helen suffered an episode on New Year's 2024 during a trip to Bali with the kids after she took a bad reaction to her ADHD medication. Reflecting on that time in her life earlier this year, Helen devastatingly shared how she thought her kids would have been better off without her. Helen has had another rough couple of months after splitting with her ex-boyfriend Robbie Talbot in May. The pair dated for around a year before they called it quits. Meanwhile, Scott has since moved on with his new partner Lauren Davies, who he has been dating since 2024.
