Nintendo Switch 2 may be getting more Xbox titles as Phil Spencer is "really looking forward to supporting them with the games that we have"
The Nintendo Switch 2 was announced recently, and Xbox boss Phil Spencer says he congratulated the company's president following the reveal.
Speaking on GamerTagRadio, Spencer says he exchanged some emails with Shuntaro Furukawa and "gave him a big congrats and said my old eyes appreciate the larger screen. I know how simple that is, but it's not always true that I can read all the text."
Most excitingly, Spencer added he was "really looking forward to supporting them with the games that we have." This seems to confirm Xbox will be looking to port its games over to the Switch 2 once it comes out.
Xbox has already been putting its exclusives on other platforms for some time, like Hi-Fi Rush and Pentiment. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will be coming to PS5 and PC sometime this spring, and Spencer even says there's no guarantee Starfield remains an exclusive.
While the Switch has many great games, it's the least powerful console out of the big three, but the Switch 2 should be closing that gap somewhat, so even more PlayStation and Xbox games could be making the move.
As for why Xbox would want its games on a rival platform, "I just think they're such an important part of this industry," Spencer says of Nintendo. "Who would ever bet against the success of that team? They're masterful at what they do. Switch is a massive success and I think Switch 2 will be as well."
Given Xbox's recent 'This is an Xbox' marketing strategy and the company's push into cloud gaming over the last several years, it makes sense that Spencer would want the company's games on as many devices as possible, even rival platforms.

Is the console war over? Next-gen Xbox could be aiming at PCs, not PS6
The APU powering the next Xbox could help it compete with pre-built PCs. That's what the experts at Digital Foundry discuss in the latest episode of their DF Direct Weekly podcast (via Wccftech). Digital Foundry notes that the leaked 'Magnus' APU image that we previously reported on reveals a chip that's very different from past and current console APUs like the ones powering the PS5 and Xbox Series X. For instance, the design has separate CPU and GPU dies, which distinguishes it from the typical design. Digital Foundry also says this chip should be extremely powerful and could support an iterative console design. That last part is important, since right now, consoles don't evolve much (if at all) during their lifespans. Magnus' design could allow Microsoft to mix dies whenever the company wants to upgrade the console, potentially resulting in more frequent updates than the typical seven-year console lifecycle. Digital Foundry also said this design could effectively move Xbox away from the standard console 'generation' we've known. If everything Digital Foundry discusses comes true, then the next Xbox would be akin to a pre-built PC, as rumors have recently suggested. Though this system could be more expensive than a home console, it could be more affordable than one of the best gaming PCs. This could potentially give AMD an edge over Nvidia, which has typically dominated the PC market with its line of RTX graphics cards. Where does that leave the PS6? Sony has already announced that it's partnering with AMD to help develop the upcoming system, and right now, we have no reason to believe Sony's next console will have a radically different APU design like the next Xbox apparently will. If Sony delivers a traditional console and Xbox opts for a more PC-like design, then the two rivals would no longer be directly competing, which would certainly be an interesting development, as the console wars would effectively end. It would be wise to take Digital Foundry's speculations as just that, especially since Microsoft hasn't said anything about the next Xbox's APU design. James Cameron has no plans to step away from directing Avatar 4 and 5, but he's not ruling it out: "I might not be able to do that"

Legendary director James Cameron has every intention in the world to helm the next two films in the Avatar franchise, the fourth and fifth. With the series' third film, Avatar: Fire and Ash, on the immediate horizon, Cameron is assuring fans he's planning to ride it out till the end. That said, he's also offered the caveat that he might not have the energy to spend years making them. "I mean, there's no reason not to. I'm healthy, I'm good to go," Cameron tells Empire, before qualifying his answer. "I'm not going to rule it out. I mean, I've got to make it in a vigorous way, to handle the kind of volume and energy of the work for another six or seven years. You know what I mean? I might not be able to do that." Cameron is 70, and it seems he has no plans to slow down whatsoever, with an Avatar animated anthology series on the way alongside the pair of sequels. Meanwhile, Fire and Ash is being hailed as "pure James Cameron wow." And with both films so far reaching the absolute pinnacle of box office receipts - in the billions - it's incredibly likely that all three of the next films will rake in piles and piles of cash. But if Cameron does wind up having to step back from directing Avatar 4 or 5, he's already got a model in mind for the kind of relationship he'd like to have with whichever filmmaker might replace him. "I had a great working relationship – and I'm using this as an example, not as an answer - with Robert Rodriguez on [Battle Angel Alita]," Cameron states, making it clear he's not naming Rodriguez as his potential Avatar successor. "He honoured what I had written. We worked very collaboratively. If I can, I'll just do it." Avatar: Fire and Ash arrives in theaters on December 19.
