1 arrested after child pornography investigation
A man was arrested Thursday and charged with pandering obscenity involving a minor, according to the Miami County Sheriff's Office.

Michael Volz, 69, from Bethel Township, was arrested after a search warrant was executed in the 8800 block of US Route 40, deputies say.

Deputies executed the search warrant after an on-going investigation into child pornography, deputies say.
Computer hard drives, thumb drives, a cell phone, tablet, router and other electronics were seized by deputies as they executed the warrant, according to the sheriff's office.
Volz is in the Miami County Jail on three counts of pandering obscenity involving a minor, which is a third degree felony, the sheriff's office says.
The sheriff's office says they are expecting other charges for Volz as the investigation continues.

1 dead, at least 2 others hurt after homemade fireworks cause explosion at Ohio home
A man is dead and two others are hurt after homemade fireworks reportedly caused an explosion at a home in Trumbull County over the weekend, according to our CBS affiliate WOIO-19 TV. [DOWNLOAD: Free WHIO-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] The explosion occurred at a home in the 500 block of East Montrose Street in Liberty Township before 9:30 p.m. on Saturday. Liberty Township firefighters found heavy damage when they arrived on scene, but they couldn't find what caused the explosion. A report from the fire department states that crews found three victims and one was stilled trapped inside the house. The fire department said a woman took herself to an area with injuries related to the explosion. The Ohio State Fire Marshal's Office told WOIO-19 that the occupants made homemade fireworks inside, which possibly caused the explosion. WOIO-19 obtained the following statement from the State Fire Marshal Office: The Ohio State Fire Marshal urges everyone to not try to make homemade fireworks or tamper with fireworks they have purchased. This incident is a tragic reminder of how dangerous this can be. The chemical mixtures and materials used in fireworks are extremely volatile and dangerous. When it comes to manufacturing fireworks, its best to leave it to the professionals. Georgia man drowns after caught in Gulf rip current
Authorities in Florida said a 47-year-old Georgia man died Sunday after drowning in the Gulf of Mexico. The Gulf County Sheriff's Office said on social media that Timothy Franklin was swimming with a family member when he got caught in a rip current. [DOWNLOAD: Free WSB-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] Deputies responded at about 2 p.m. to an emergency call about a possible drowning in the 3800 blook of Cape San Blas Road in Port St. Joe. They found emergency personnel from Gulf County EMS and South Gulf Fire Rescue engaged in life-saving efforts that ultimately proved unsuccessful. The Gulf County Sheriff's Office said 'it is grateful for the numerous members of the community that have wrapped themselves around the Franklin family to provide support during this incredibly difficult time. This is a heartbreaking incident, and the family remains in our thoughts and prayers.' A GoFundMe has been started on the family's behalf, according to media reports.
