VPK appoints Patrick Leclercq as Corrugated Board divisional CEO

Yahoo14-07-2025
VPK Group has announced the appointment of Patrick Leclercq as the new divisional CEO of its Corrugated Board division.
Leclercq has been with the company since 2017 and gained experience in various roles across Belgium, the Nordics, and France.
His background and strategic understanding are expected to contribute to the development of the division.
In a recent video interview, Leclercq discussed his approach to leadership and the current landscape of the corrugated board sector, highlighting the need for collaboration across borders, the company's sustainability efforts, and the importance of its workforce.
Leclercq said: 'People are 80% alike across borders, but the difference lies in the 20% nuance. These insights help me today in my role across more than ten countries.'
VPK Group operates 70 facilities in 21 countries and employs approximately 7,000 staff members.
The company focuses on providing packaging solutions through its main divisions: Recycled Paper, Corrugated Packaging, and specialities with solid board, cores, and edge protectors.
VPK launched the new BOBST 4-colour casemaker in Oudegem, Belgium, in May this year. Replacing two older Langston machines, the facility enables sustainable production.
In April this year, VPK Group strengthened its presence in Italy by acquiring Open Imballaggi, a producer of corrugated cardboard packaging based near Bergamo in Lombardy.
The deal aligns with VPK's strategic goals to broaden its global footprint and enhance its operational efficiency.
With this acquisition, VPK Group seeks to further its long-term development strategy, reinforcing its vertically integrated approach within the paper and board packaging industry.
"VPK appoints Patrick Leclercq as Corrugated Board divisional CEO" was originally created and published by Packaging Gateway, a GlobalData owned brand.

H&M, Rebl Industries strike deal for robotic automation

Since mid-2024, H&M has been using Rebl's robotic solutions at its online sales warehouse in the Nordics region of Sweden. The new phase of their collaboration includes broader agreements that aim to enhance production predictability and efficiency at more locations. Rebl's robots, which are powered by AI, have been operational for several years in real production settings. Their capabilities include automating tasks such as sorting, palletising, and depalletising, which typically require repetitive manual efforts from warehouse workers. The robots-as-a-service (RaaS) model offered by Rebl enables businesses to integrate these robots quickly and without the substantial initial investments that typically present a challenge to conventional automation practices. To spearhead its international growth, Rebl Industries has appointed Nicholas Tengelin as its first external CEO. His role will focus on scaling up Rebl's market presence. Rebl explains the warehousing sector is currently undergoing a transformation with robotic automation similar to what has been seen in automotive and industrial manufacturing. Rebl Industries co-founder and Pulsen Fusion CEO Alexander Westerling said: "Our AI-powered robots quickly step into warehouse operations, supporting a decrease in repetitive tasks for employees and an increase in overall efficiency. This game-changing technology opens new automation possibilities for sectors previously unable to leverage robotics.' Last month, H&M unveiled its initial series of 'digital twin' images of human models as part of its efforts to demonstrate the application of generative AI in enhancing creative endeavours in fashion. Wyndham opens Comwell Hvide Hus Aalborg in Denmark

Hotel Comwell Hvide Hus Aalborg in Denmark, a part of the Dolce by Wyndham brand, has opened its doors following a renovation project. Established in 1969 and acquired by Comwell Hotels in 2014, this 16-storey hotel is located close to Aalborg's city centre. As part of the Dolce by Wyndham brand, it joins sister properties in Copenhagen, Aarhus, and Odense, further expanding the brand's presence in Denmark. Comwell Hotels' commercial director Michael Hansen said: 'Aalborg is celebrated as one of the happiest cities in the world, and we can't wait to welcome guests to our newly modernised property right in the heart of this dynamic city. 'This marks our fourth collaboration with Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, a partnership that brings global scale, support, and the distinctive Dolce brand—perfectly aligned with today's demand for meaningful, experience-driven travel. They're the ideal partner for Comwell as we continue growing our footprint across Denmark.' The four-star hotel offers 198 rooms, furnished with furniture and accessories from Danish brand HAY. This Dolce by Wyndham property includes 13 conference rooms spread over four floors, with a capacity to host up to 365 guests, catering to both leisure and business travellers. The fully customisable spaces encompass the Panorama Floor on the 15th level. Guests can also enjoy the fitness centre. Wyndham's Dolce brand has been broadening across Europe, with new properties in France, Italy and Spain, and more under development. Wyndham Hotels & Resorts EMEA president Dimitris Manikis said: 'Dolce continues to shine across EMEA, offering hotel owners a lifestyle brand that pairs strong commercial pull with the kind of unfiltered, experience-driven charm today's travellers crave. 'As demand for 'coolcations' and activity-packed getaways is on the rise, the Nordics—Denmark especially—is set to stay high on travellers' wishlists.' In June 2024, Wyndham unveiled the launch of the Dolce by Wyndham Versailles-Domaine du Montcel hotel near Paris, France.
