Russian President Vladimir Putin is prepared to meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky but all issues must be worked through first and there's a question about Zelensky's authority to sign a peace deal, Putin's foreign minister said on Thursday. Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump met on Friday in Alaska for the first Russia-U.S. summit in more than four years and the two leaders discussed how to end the deadliest war in Europe since World War Two. After his summit talks in Alaska, Trump said on Monday he had begun arranging, opens new tab a meeting between the Russian and Ukrainian leaders, to be followed by a trilateral summit with the U.S. president. Asked by reporters if Putin was willing to meet Zelensky, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said: "Our president has repeatedly said that he is ready to meet, including with Mr. Zelensky." Lavrov, though, added a caveat: "With the understanding that all issues that require consideration at the highest level will be well worked out, and experts and ministers will prepare appropriate recommendations. "And, of course, with the understanding that when and if - hopefully, when - it comes to signing future agreements, the issue of the legitimacy of the person who signs these agreements from the Ukrainian side will be resolved," Lavrov said.

UK targets Iranian oil magnate, four companies with asset freeze
Britain imposed sanctions on one individual and four entities on Wednesday under its Iran sanctions regime, saying they are part of a network that supports Tehran's overseas activities, including in Ukraine and Israel. The sanctions include an asset freeze on Iranian oil magnate Hossein Shamkhani, and on four companies operating in the shipping, petrochemical and financial sectors, according to a government notice published online. Britain said the network had facilitated hostile activity by the Iranian government, including efforts to destabilize the UK and other countries. Some of the companies were cited for acting on behalf of or at the direction of Shamkhani, who is accused of aiding Iran's overseas operations. Shamkhani was also sanctioned by the United States last month. The sanctions freeze any UK-based assets and bar British individuals and businesses from dealing with the designated parties. Reuters

Lebanon's FM meets German, Ukrainian Ambassadors, UN official to discuss UNIFIL renewal
Lebanese Foreign Minister Youssef Rajji met with German Ambassador Kurt Georg Stöckel-Stillfried to discuss Lebanon's push for a one-year extension of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL). The ambassador expressed Germany's full support for Lebanon's position on the mandate and pledged cooperation with the Lebanese Army, particularly in maritime operations. Rajji also received Ukrainian Ambassador Roman Roman Goriainov to review bilateral relations and explore ways to enhance cooperation across various sectors. The Ukrainian envoy voiced his country's support for Lebanon's policy of ensuring all arms are under state control. In a separate meeting, Rajji was briefed by U.N. Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator Imran Riza on the work of U.N. agencies and humanitarian organizations in Lebanon, with a focus on the Syrian refugee response. Additionally, Rajji met with a delegation of Lebanese expatriate groups representing 19 communities worldwide. The group reaffirmed support for the Lebanese government's efforts to rebuild state institutions, implement reforms, and revive the economy.
