On Tuesday morning, Robert Downey, Jr. gave stars of the upcoming "Ironheart" a wonderful, sweet surprise as they were being interviewed on "Good Morning America".
The future star of "Avengers: Doomsday" recorded a message for Dominique Thorne and Anthony Ramos, putting his support fully behind the pair and "Ironheart". You can watch the clip below.

"Ms. Thorne, I couldn't be happier than to be seeing you bring Riri Williams to life," Downey said. "But, the Hood has me nervous. Is the hood green? Please tell me Mr. Ramos is not replacing me as Dr. Doom via Parker Robbins. Is there something they're not telling me?"

Downey finished the video by making a heart with his fingers and saying, "Long story short, Iron Man loves Ironheart."
Thorne made her own heart sign back, responding, "Ironheart loves Iron Man, too."
This isn't the first time we've heard Downey step in to give his blessing to Iron Man's successor. Back in May, Thorne told Empire that Downey had reached out to give her some words of support.
"Robert Downey Jr and I spoke just after we wrapped ['Ironheart'], and he shared some very lovely words about my journey," Thorne said. "He told me how excited he was and that he's rooting for it, too. I literally got two thumbs up. It's really reassuring to know you're not embarrassing Iron Man."
In fact, recently Thorne hinted that she might be running into Downey as Doctor Doom in either "Avengers: Doomsday" or the follow-up "Avengers: Secret Wars".
She stopped short of confirming it, but asked about appearing in the films, Thorne said, "Oh, you know, what can I say? The odds might be in our favor. Who knows? We'll see. We'll see."
Thorne made her debut as Riri Williams/Ironheart in 2022's "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever". Williams becomes a central figure in the conflict between Wakanda and Talokan when she develops a device that can detect vibranium.
Her upcoming series takes place after the events of that film, when Williams returns home to Chicago to find the mystical threat of Parker Robbins/The Hood (Anthony Ramos) waiting for her.
The first three episodes of "Ironheart" premiere on Disney+ on June 24.

Box Office: John Wick Spinoff ‘Ballerina' Opens to Sluggish $25 Million, ‘Lilo & Stitch' Rules With $32.5 Million

Disney's Lilo & Stitch is dancing circles around From the World of John Wick: Ballerina at the domestic box office. Lilo topped the North American chart for the third consecutive weekend with an estimated $32.5 million from 4,185 theaters after clearing the $300 million milestone on Thursday. Through Sunday, the live-action blockbuster's global haul is an estimated $772.6 million, including $335.8 million domestically and $436.8 million overseas. Ana de Armas plays the title role in the R-rated action pic, with main franchise star Keanu Reeves also making an appearance. Three weeks ago, Ballerina was tracking to open to $35 million or more. Projections were lowered to $30 million-plus heading into the weekend and even further. The good news: Ballerina nabbed an A- CinemaScore and strong audience scores, both on Rotten Tomatoes (94 percent) and PostTrak, so it could regain its step and have long legs. Lionsgate decided to bank big on its John Wick universe after seeing each subsequent film open to bigger numbers, an almost unheard-of feat. That is, until now. Since Ballerina is a spinoff, expectations were always going to be different, but not to this degree. Lionsgate was looking for it to at least match John Wick: Chapter 2's $30.4 million opening in 2017, not adjusted for inflation. So far, Ballerina is playing decidedly male, or 63 percent, according to PostTrak. Lionsgate and Thunder Road Films / 87Eleven Entertainment say they covered a notable chunk of the $90 million production budget with foreign sales. Set during the events of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, the film follows Eve Macarro (de Armas), who is beginning her training in the assassin traditions of the Ruska Roma. Anjelica Huston, Gabriel Byrne, Lance Reddick, Catalina Sandino Moreno and Norman Reedus co-star, with Ian McShane and Reeves also turning up. Directed by Len Wiseman from a script from Shay Hatten, Ballerina is based on characters by Derek Kolstad. There's plenty of competition when it comes to male-skewing action fare, led by Paramount and Skydance's Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning, which, like Lilo & Stitch, is enjoying a strong hold in its third outing (the two event titles opened opened opposite each other over Memorial Day weekend to fuel a record holiday). Final Reckoning, marking Tom Cruise's final turn as spy-with-the-mostest Ethan Hunt, placed third with an estimated $15 million from 3,456 locations for a domestic tally of $149.2 million. Overseas, where it is pulling in even bigger numbers, it earned another $40.7 million for an international haul of $301.2 million and $450.4 million globally. After a softer-than-expected debut last weekend, Sony's Karate Kid: Legends fell off 57 percent or more in its sophomore outing to $8.7 million from 3,859 sites for a muted domestic tally of $35.4 million through Sunday. New Line's Final Destination: Bloodlines, now in its fourth weekend, rounded out the top five with $6.5 million from 3,867 cinemas for a domestic tally of $123.6 million, followed by the nationwide expansion of Wes Anderson's latest film, The Phoenician Scheme, into a total of 1,678 theaters. From Focus Features and Indian Paintbrush, Phoenician Scheme is projecting a $6.3 million weekend for a 10-day cume of $7 million after opening in its first six locations last weekend (it scored the top per-location average of the year to date, of $95,000). A24's horror pic Bring Her back finished in seventh place in its second weekend with an estimated $3.5 million from 2,467 theaters for a domestic cume of $14.1 million, followed by GKIDS' new offering, Dan Da Dan: Evil Eye, with $3.1 million from 2,435 cinemas. Tupac Murder Trial Update: Defendant Calls Out Prosecutor's Remark in Court

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Duane "Keffe D" Davis, the man accused of killing rapper Tupac Shakur, challenged comments from the prosecution during a court hearing on Tuesday. Chief Deputy District Attorney Marc DiGiacomo said the jurors in Davis' battery trial did not know who he was, Las Vegas Review-Journal reported. "Yes, they did," Davis said. Newsweek reached out to the Clark County District Attorney's Office and Carl Arnold, Davis' attorney, for comment. Davis was convicted on counts of battery by a prisoner and challenging someone to a fight in April after an altercation with another inmate. Davis is scheduled to go to trial for a murder charge related to Shakur's killing in February 2026. Arnold and Chief Deputy District Attorney Binu Palal indicated during today's hearing that they would be ready to start the trial at that time. Duane "Keffe D" Davis appears for a hearing related to his indictment in the 1996 killing of rapper Tupac Shakur, February 18, 2025 at District Court in Las Vegas, Nevada. Duane "Keffe D" Davis appears for a hearing related to his indictment in the 1996 killing of rapper Tupac Shakur, February 18, 2025 at District Court in Las Vegas, Nevada. Photo by John Locher-Pool/Getty Images Why It Matters The murder of Shakur has remained one of American pop culture's most enduring and scrutinized mysteries. Shakur, widely known as 2Pac, died at age 25 after being shot in a drive-by attack near the Las Vegas Strip on September 7, 1996. He succumbed to his injuries six days later. The case remained open and unresolved for nearly three decades despite intense public speculation, documentary coverage, and various conspiracy theories about what really happened that night. What To Know In September 2023, Las Vegas police arrested Davis, an alleged former gang leader from Compton, California. In his 2019 memoir, Davis claimed he was inside the car where the shots were fired from and described acquiring a .40-caliber handgun and handing it to his nephew, Orlando "Baby Lane" Anderson. Authorities and Davis himself claimed the shots that killed Shakur came from this vehicle. Davis and his attorney have argued that he should not have been charged due to immunity agreements he claimed were made with federal and local authorities years ago. His attorneys characterized the indictment and 27-year delay in prosecution as a violation of constitutional rights. However, Clark County District Court Judge Carli Kierny stated that "the state of Nevada has never offered" Davis such a deal. Davis' attempt earlier this year to dismiss the case was unsuccessful. Prosecutors have described the evidence against Davis as compelling, including the detailed accounts in his book. The 1996 shooting allegedly followed a casino altercation between Shakur and Anderson. Anderson, who had denied any involvement, was fatally shot in 1998. Other alleged accomplices are also deceased. Davis has remained in custody since his arrest. An attempt by Arnold to get Davis released on house arrest was denied by Kierny last year. Kierny cited concerns about Davis and the person offering to pay his bail profiting off the sale of Davis' life story. What People Are Saying Arnold, in a statement to Newsweek last year after Davis was denied release: "We firmly believe there is a lack of substantive proof that Mr. Davis intended to profit from his alleged connections to the case." Kierny, addressing Arnold at a hearing in July 2024: "It seems like your plan, your end goal here, is to make some kind of show for the press of this trial." What Happens Next Another hearing in the murder case is scheduled for September 9. Davis is also challenging his convictions related to the altercation in jail. His attorney has requested a new trial, and a hearing has been set for July 2. Do you have a story that Newsweek should be covering? Do you have any questions about this story? Contact LiveNews@

Marvel's ARMOR WARS Reportedly May Be Dead, but There Are Possible Plot Details — GeekTyrant

Marvel's long gestating Armor Wars project might have finally flatlined. At least, that's what the latest industry chatter suggests. Originally revealed as a Disney+ series back in 2020, Armor Wars was later upgraded to a feature film in 2022 with Don Cheadle set to lead as James 'Rhodey' Rhodes, aka War Machine. Since then we haven't heard much, but now, according to new intel from scooper Alex Perez of The Cosmic Circus, it's looking like the project may never see the light of day. When asked if Armor Wars was definitively scrapped or just stalled, Perez responded: 'Many of the ideas for Armor Wars were transferred to other projects. The main one is VisionQuest with Ultron, but there are others, such as Wonder Man which will also delve into the DODC as they investigate Simon Williams. 'The one thing I think that won't be repurposed into another show, and which we may sadly miss, is Rhodey's arc from the events of Secret Invasion and how Rhodey copes with many of the events that have happened in the MCU since Raava replaced him.' While, the storylines intended for Armor Wars aren't disappearing, they're being reallocated to other projects that are still moving forward. Perez also shared some context on Rhodey's original arc, which might have offered a deeper, more personal chapter for the character: 'The original idea, as I understand it, was to have been replaced at some point between the events of Avengers: Endgame & The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. 'There were talks at one point about setting it as far back as Captain America: Civil War, but a massive online backlash against that idea led to the decision to set it later in the timeline. 'There was also the idea of exploring the legacy of Tony Stark and the ramifications the character had among his closest friends and family. So, we would have seen the return of Pepper Potts and Morgan Stark.' Armor Wars would have also brought back key emotional ties to Tony Stark, something many fans have been wanting to see more of post-Endgame. It's a shame we may never get to see that. So what happens now? VisionQuest is still in development, and Wonder Man is expected to debut later this year. Meanwhile, there's no official cancellation announcement for Armor Wars, so technically, it's still on the books. But, we'll just have to see how that all plays out. I would actually like to see this Armor Wars movie get made to see how Rhodey deals with the aftermath of the events of Secret Invasion, which was the most interesting part of the series.
