Georgia track signee Brayden Williams sets new wind-aided 100-meter record

Yahoo23-04-2025

Everything is bigger in Texas—and apparently, everything's also faster.
Duncanville senior and Georgia track signee Brayden Williams blew away the competition in the prelims of the Class 6A Region II meet in Waco last week running sub-10 times in the 100-meters on back-to-back days. After running a 9.95 on Thursday, Williams ran the fastest wind-aided 100-meter time by a high school athlete in U.S. history the next day at 9.82.
Williams became just the fourth high school runner in U.S. history to break 10 seconds for all conditions just over a month ago. In that meet, he ran a wind-aided 9.99 in the 100-meters.

While he may be closing in on the record for the fastest 100 meters for all conditions, Williams hasn't won that record just yet.
Christian Miller out of Florida set that record last year, running a wind-legal 9.93. He did hold the record for the fastest win-aided 100 at 9.94 before Williams broke it last week.

Former 5-Star Recruit Reveals Why He Left Florida State for Deion Sanders, Colorado

Former 5-Star Recruit Reveals Why He Left Florida State for Deion Sanders, Colorado originally appeared on Athlon Sports. When wide receiver Hykeem Williams joined the Florida State Seminoles as a member of the 2023 recruiting class, there was hope he would come in and develop into a star. Advertisement However, that never really materialized. In the past two seasons, Williams has appeared in 17 games, hauling in just 21 receptions for 267 yards and two touchdowns, leading him to transfer to the Colorado Buffaloes for 2025. Now, in a video posted to the "Reach The People Media" YouTube channel, he dug a little deeper into his decision to join head coach Deion Sanders in Boulder. Sanders played his college ball for Florida State. 'The production, I mean, it's the best here for real," Williams said. "Honestly, you getting put on the biggest showcase. You know what I'm saying? And I mean, it connects. I mean, you getting coached by some of the best. They done did it. ... A lot of NFL come through here, so why not?' Florida State Seminoles wide receiver Hykeem Williams (8). Melina Myers-Imagn Images Of course, as mentioned by the wide receiver, Colorado draws a lot of attention, and per 247Sports, its 2024 average viewership of 4,178,692 per game was the 10th most of any team. Advertisement They also had three wide receivers taken in the 2025 NFL draft, the most of any program, as Travis Hunter went to the Jacksonville Jaguars (No. 2), LaJohntay Wester joined the Baltimore Ravens (No. 203), and Jimmy Horn Jr. went to the Carolina Panthers (No. 208). Considering those departures, Colorado and Sanders are losing a good amount of production, as the trio combined for 207 receptions, 2,630 yards and 26 touchdowns, which means Williams could come in and play a significant role. Considering that 247Sports Composite rankings had him as a five-star recruit, the No. 3 wide receiver and the No. 30 player in the nation out of high school, there's no doubt he has a lot of talent. It will remain to be seen if it's put on full display. Garrett Williams is only Arizona Cardinals CB in top 32 per PFF

Garrett Williams is only Arizona Cardinals CB in top 32 per PFF Williams ranks 22 in PFF's top 32 CBs entering 2025. The Arizona Cardinals have a young group of cornerbacks. Of the four top players on their roster, Star Thomas and Garrett Williams enter their third NFL seasons, Max Melton enters his second and Will Johnson, selected in the second round in April, is a rookie. As such, they haven't proven much in the league, except for one. PFF ranked the top 32 cornerbacks in the NFL and Williams makes the cut, coming in at No. 22. After struggling in his rookie season and missing more than half the year, resulting in a 57.2 PFF coverage grade, Williams was excellent in 2024 with an 83.7 PFF coverage grade (fourth best) and the seventh-best PFF advanced coverage grade. If he's able to replicate his sophomore campaign in which he allowed 0.68 yards and the second-fewest yards in coverage, Williams could jump into the top 10. If Williams continues to play at the level he did last season, if Melton takes a second-year leap and if Johnson is as good as many believe he can be, the Cardinals' secondary will be very, very good in 2025. Lions' WR Jameson Williams Reveals Which of the Team's Losses Hurt Him the Most

Lions' WR Jameson Williams Reveals Which of the Team's Losses Hurt Him the Most originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The past couple of seasons have been an undeniably positive experience for the Detroit Lions and their fans. Advertisement After years of frequently struggling as one of the NFL's worst teams, the Lions have become one of the league's best franchises in recent years. They've won the last two NFC North titles and earned the top seed in the NFC this past season with 15 wins. While there have been plenty of positives over the last two years, there has also been some heartbreak. This past season ended in disappointment when the Lions were eliminated from the playoffs in the Divisional Round by the Washington Commanders. Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson WilliamsSergio Estrada-Imagn Images While that was a painful ending to a season where the Lions looked like title contenders, wide receiver Jameson Williams says it wasn't the loss that has hurt him the most during his NFL career. Advertisement While recently speaking with the media at OTAs, Williams revealed that distinction actually belongs to the team's NFC Championship Game loss to the 49ers. I think people really don't realize how bad it is until you get to that game where you're one game away from the Super Bowl. That was the one that hurt us the most. What hurt me the most. I felt more hurt losing to San Francisco than I did to the Commanders because it was just one game away, one play away. That matchup with the 49ers from the 2023 season wasn't one the Lions were expected to win, but it was a game they seemed to be in control of. The led the matchup 24-7 at halftime, thanks in part to a 42-yard touchdown run from Williams less than two minutes into the game. Unfortunately, things fell apart in the second half. The Lions surrendered 27 unanswered points to fall behind 34-24 in the fourth quarter. Williams scored another touchdown, this time on a three-yard pass from Jared Goff, to cut it to a three-point game, but that marked the end of the game's scoring and the Lions missed out on the first Super Bowl appearance in franchise history. Advertisement It's easy to see why that loss would still hurt, but the Lions can put that pain in the past this season if they are finally able to wok their way into a Super Bowl.
