Abu drops new summer album Toba - Music - Arts & Culture
Released via Abu's official YouTube channel and major streaming platforms, Toba features six new tracks that blend diverse musical styles into a distinctive fusion.
While the album embraces a bright, summery spirit, Abu has revealed that he plans to release another album later this year, tailored to suit the winter season.
The title track, Toba, is composed by Mohamed Hamza and arranged by Ramy Samir. The song's cheerful melody blends traditional musical elements—characteristic of Abu's signature style—with contemporary Egyptian pop, adding a refreshing twist.
The lyrics, written by Mohamed El-Qayati, offer a playful and light-hearted celebration of love.
The accompanying music video, directed by Omar Donia, adopts a slightly comedic tone and was filmed in Qanater El-Khayriya, capturing a genuine popular atmosphere among the locals.
The album also includes Balash Beleil and Come Back, both composed by Abu.
Additional highlights include Ban Ban, composed by Tayam Aly, and Alby Aho, composed by Karim Ashour—both tracks feature prominent darbouka rhythms embellished with layered percussion.
In contrast, Ahla Haga, with lyrics and music by Tarek Nadem, leans into joyful, melodic arrangements that reinforce the album's summer mood through its celebration of a beloved.
Abu's journey
Abu is an Egyptian singer and songwriter born into a family with a rich artistic heritage. His father, a celebrated Sufi poet, introduced him to the power of language and rhythm from an early age.
He began playing piano and guitar at the age of eight and went on to study Business Administration at the American University in Cairo (AUC).
Abu's musical breakthrough came in 2012 with the release of El-Nas Mabterhamsh (People Have No Mercy), a politically charged track that struck a chord with Egyptian audiences.
The song's success ultimately led him to leave his corporate career and pursue music full-time.
In 2017, he rose to regional fame with the hit single 3 Daqat, a summer duet with actress Yousra that became a viral sensation.

Cynthia Khalifeh Joins Ahmed El Fishawy in Film "Saffah Al-Tagamoa"
Yara Sameh Lebanese actress Cynthia Khalifeh is set to star alongside Egyptian actor Ahmed El Fishawy in the film "The Fifth Settlement Murderer" ("Saffah Al-Tagamoa"). Written and directed by Mohamed Salah Al-Azab and produced by Ahmed El Sobky, the film features El Fishawy playing Karim Selim, known in the media as the Saffah Al-Tagamoa. This is the second project to be developed about the murderer. In June 2024, Azab, the scribe of the crime TV series "Saffah Al Giza", is penning the series. The 8-episode show is produced by Ahmed El Sobky and has actor Hassan El Raddad lined up to take the lead role. Dubbed "the Fifth Settlement Murderer", in connection with a luxurious gated community on the outskirts of Cairo where he lived and killed his victims, Selim, a 36-year-old man and holder of a US passport, admitted during interrogation in May 2024 that he killed an unidentified number of women, other than the three whose bodies were discovered earlier that month. In the next weeks, the bodies of the women were discovered separately, each unclothed in deserted areas in provinces outside Cairo, as their clothes were extracted in other faraway areas afterward. The autopsy reports suggest that the three women were killed by the same person, as all showed similar signs of torture, including strangulation and flogging wounds. The evidence against the perpetrator also included a fingerprint on one of the women's clothes. Laboratory tests of the components of their stomach and blood further indicated narcotics in their system. Following investigations and the examination of CCTV footage in the areas leading to the location of the bodies, security forces managed to identify and apprehend the suspect. The authorities confiscated two mobile phones and a laptop belonging to him, on which he videotaped the incidents committed inside a soundproof room at his flat allocated for his practices. The videos in question showed him performing intercourse with his victims after they died. During interrogation, the suspect confessed that he knew his victims online, some of whom he claimed were courtesans. The suspect asked them to come over to his home, where he performed unusual sexual activities with them before he forced the women to consume drugs and killed them. The suspect acquired a college degree from the most prestigious university in Egypt, the American University in Cairo, and had worked as a teacher at an international school before he quit his job. He created a TikTok channel where he taught American English. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Arts & Culture Lebanese Media: Fayrouz Collapses after Death of Ziad Rahbani Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results

Korean Cultural Centre in Cairo launches folk painting workshop
The Korean Cultural Centre in Egypt on Sunday began a three-day workshop on traditional Korean folk painting, known as Minhwa, at its premises in Dokki. The workshop, which runs from Aug. 3 to 5, offers participants hands-on training in the traditional techniques, materials, and motifs of the art form. Led by distinguished Korean artists, the programme is designed for students of the Sejong Institute at the cultural centre, as well as local enthusiasts of Korean culture and art. Organised by the cultural centre and curated by the King Sejong Institute Foundation, the workshop is part of the Sejong Culture Academy, a global initiative that sends Korean culture experts worldwide to deliver immersive programmes. 'Through this workshop, we aim to share a living aspect of Korean heritage and inspire Egyptian artists to connect with it,' said Oh Sung-ho, Director of the Korean Cultural Centre. 'We hope this initiative strengthens cultural ties and promotes artistic dialogue between Korea and Egypt.' Participants will also gain insight into the historical, cultural, and philosophical dimensions of minhwa, which are renowned for their expressive style and rich symbolism, often depicting themes such as prosperity, longevity, and harmony. Popular motifs include the 'Four Gracious Plants' — the plum blossom, orchid, chrysanthemum, and bamboo — which represent the seasons and virtues in Korean philosophy, as well as everyday scenes, landscapes, and folkloric subjects. The workshop is part of the centre's broader mission to promote cultural exchange and deepen mutual understanding between the peoples of Korea and Egypt through the arts.
