Workshop on Krishi Mapper app organised in Himachal
A spokesperson of the horticulture department informed that this application would support real-time monitoring for instant supervision of field activities and assessment of progress besides elimination of duplication of beneficiaries to ensure transparency. The application would be beneficial in maintaining the centralised digital database for maintaining integrated records of all horticulture and agriculture activities.
He said that the application is accessible as a mobile app and web portal, enabling data entry at the field level. The upcoming feature of the application would be capable of capturing data even without network connectivity.
During the training session, emphasis was laid on the mandatory adoption of geo-tagging and geo-fencing for all components of the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) schemes. Instructions were given for timely data uploading, creation of user IDs at departmental and field level and strict compliance to avoid stoppage of funds by the Centre. It was also directed that no subsidy should be released without geo-tagging and geo-fencing and that all field officers should be given immediate training on user ID creation for effective implementation of Krishi Mapper.
The spokesperson said that the main features of Krishi Mapper are real-time monitoring, elimination of beneficiary duplication and the training and sensitisation of field staff. Upcoming features include integration with the MIDH Suraksha portal, offline data entry facility and expansion of the application.

News18 India has achieved a historic milestone of 100 gigawatts (GW) of solar PV module manufacturing capacity registered under the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM), marking a significant leap in the country's renewable energy journey. Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Pralhad Joshi, called it a 'remarkable rise" from just 2.3 GW in 2014, crediting Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision and initiatives like the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for High-Efficiency Solar Modules. He said the achievement strengthens India's path toward Atmanirbhar Bharat and its target of 500 GW non-fossil capacity by 2030. The Government of India's commitment is to make India self-reliant in solar PV manufacturing and establish the country as a major player in the global value chain. This commitment is supported through a comprehensive set of initiatives, including the PLI Scheme for High Efficiency Solar PV Modules and measures to provide a level playing field for the Indian manufacturers. The catalytic effect of these interventions has resulted in an expansion in solar module manufacturing capacity, from just 2.3 GW in 2014 to over 100 GW today. This reinforces India's commitment to achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030 and contributes meaningfully to global decarbonization efforts. The ALMM Order was issued by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) on 02nd January 2019. The first ALMM list for solar PV modules was published on 10th March 2021 with an initial enlisted capacity of around 8.2 GW. In just over four years, this capacity has grown more than twelvefold, crossing the 100 GW mark. This remarkable expansion is not just limited to depth of capacity achieved, but by the breadth of the number of manufacturers who has also significantly increased from 21 in 2021 to 100 manufacturers, who are operating 123 manufacturing units currently. This growth includes contributions from both established companies and new entrants, many of whom have adopted high-efficiency technologies and vertically integrated operations. The result is a diverse and competitive manufacturing landscape capable of meeting domestic needs and serving global markets. Self-reliance in critical tech crucial for Viksit Bharat, says PM Modi
Clean energy to semiconductors, defence to medicines, space to deep sea, information technology to nuclear energy — Prime Minister Narendra Modi stressed the importance of self-reliance in critical technologies and scientific research and development in India achieving the objective of becoming a developed nation by 2047. Addressing the 79th Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort, the PM highlighted the technology initiatives that are underway, like in clean energy and space, and emphasised the need to develop capabilities in areas like semiconductors and fighter jets. '…slavery made us impoverished, and it also rendered us dependent. Our reliance upon others kept increasing. The bedrock of a Viksit Bharat is also a self-reliant Bharat. The greater a nation's reliance on others, the more its freedom comes into question,' Modi said, while making his point about technological self-reliance. He said a made-in-India chip would be available in the market by the end of the year. Modi spoke about the progress being made in harnessing renewable energy sources like solar and wind, the efforts to mine and develop critical minerals, and stressed on the importance of nuclear energy. 'By 2047, when the nation will complete 100 years of Independence — the year we have set as target for achieving the goal of a 'Viksit Bharat' — we are moving forward with the resolve to increase our nuclear energy capacity more than tenfold,' he said. The Prime Minister also mentioned India's Deep Ocean Mission aimed at exploring resources under the sea. His remarks came just a day after it was revealed that two Indian divers, 'aquanauts', recently completed trips up to the depth of about 5,000 metres in the Atlantic Ocean. This is in preparation for the country's 'Samudrayaan Mission' in which three Indian divers are supposed to travel in an India-made vessel to about 6,000 metres below the ocean surface. Modi also spoke about astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla's recent journey to the International Space Station, and India's own Gaganyaan mission which is supposed to send humans into space by 2027. 'And I am very proud of the reforms done in space recently, more than 300 startups of my country are now working only in the space sector and thousands of youth are working with full potential in those 300 startups,' he said. He asked the youth to put in similar energy into other complex technological areas to strengthen the nation as well as generate jobs and revenues. 'My appeal is to the young scientists of my country, to my talented youth, to my engineers and professionals, and also to every government department. Should the jet engine for our Made in India fighter jets be ours or not? We are considered the pharma of the world … Isn't it the need of the hour that we put more energy into research and development, we should have our own patents… The Government of India has formulated the BioE3 policy. I request the youth of the country to come and study the BioE3 policy and take steps,' he said.

Under this loan scheme, Agniveers with a salary account at SBI can avail loans up to Rs 4 lakh without any collateral and with a complete waiver of processing fee, the bank said in a statement. The repayment tenure will align with the term of the Agnipath scheme, offering maximum flexibility and convenience to our nation's brave hearts transitioning from civilian life, it said.
