DMHO attends ASHA review meeting at UPHC
Kurnool: An ASHA review meeting was conducted at the Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC), Erraburuzu, in Kurnool on Tuesday. The meeting was graced by the District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO), Dr Shantikala, who addressed the gathering and reviewed various key agenda points concerning the ASHA workers and public health programs.
Speaking on the occasion, she noted that ASHA workers must ensure timely and accurate uploading of eligible couple services, iron and Vitamin-A supplement distribution, and newborn care details on the ASHA mobile app as part of the ASHA Day agenda.
Awareness must be actively promoted regarding seasonal diseases such as malaria, dengue, and diarrhea to ensure early prevention and control. Pregnant women should be educated about the Kilkari voice message service, which provides vital maternal and child health information from the 4th month of pregnancy until the child reaches one year of age. These messages are delivered from the number 01244451660.
Public awareness should be raised about the availability of free health services at Urban Health Centres. Citizens should be encouraged to bring their Aadhaar number and phone number when availing OPD services.
The ongoing survey related to non-communicable diseases under the NCD 3.0 programme must be completed at the earliest.
The session served as a crucial platform to strengthen grassroots health initiatives and reinforce the role of ASHA workers in improving community health outcomes.

The TDP-led NDA government in the State has evolved an action plan aimed at infusing a sense of discipline among doctors, bringing a change in their conduct towards patients and enhancing diagnostic equipment in government hospitals, according to Minister for Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare Satya Kumar Yadav. Addressing the media in Vijayawada on Saturday (June 7, 2025), the Minister took a jibe at the YSRCP, and said the NDA did not consider people who voted against them as 'back stabbers'. 'We try to fulfil the promises made to the people. We have worked with accountability and responsibility,' he said. Giving an account of the changes in the Primary Health sector, the Minister said, in recognition of the State's efforts in improving the implementation of the Centrally-sponsored schemes at the village level, the Centre sanctioned ₹100 crore for the State towards performance incentive. 'This is not a small thing. During the past five years, the Centre did not give any such incentive,' the Minister said, adding the present government secured funds, to the tune of ₹1,065 crore, from the Centre for construction of 3,318 buildings of Ayushman Aarogya Mandirs in the State. At present, many were being run in rented spaces. Pointing out that timely and reliable diagnostic confirmation of diseases was the first step in ensuring healthcare for all, he said the government procured more than 3,200 diagnostic equipment in the past one year and decided to conduct 47 types of diagnostic tests at the doorstep of the people through the '104' service vehicles. Referring to the Tirumala laddu episode, the Minister said the government was focussing on opening drug testing laboratories in Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada and Kurnool. New labs had been sanctioned for Tirumala, Eluru and Ongole. In line with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu's vision of digitising healthcare, the Minister said an MoU had been signed with the Bill Gates Foundation for setting up Digital Health Command and Care Centre, strengthening Telemedicine services, supply chain management for drugs and consumables. Giving numbers as 'stastical evidence' of the change brought in by the present government, he said the attendance of doctors and other medical staff had increased by about 7.42% to 14.20%, OP services increased by about 8%, In-Patient (IP) services saw an improvement of 4% to 17.61%, lab tests saw an increase of 7.20%. He added that various surveys had shown that the public perception regarding availability of doctors in Government General Hospitals, their attitude, supply of free medicines improved. Talking about further plans, the Minister said the universal health insurance of up to ₹25 lakh would be rolled out soon. During an interaction with the mediapersons, the Minister said the COVID situation was not alarming in the State and that there were no restrictions on gathering. 'We have N95 masks, oxygen cylinders, beds, wards ready. However, the situation is not alarming and there is nothing to worry,' he said, adding that only those with comorbidities need to be extra careful. Health Special Chief Secretary M.T. The Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister has directed the strictest possible action following revelations of a sophisticated cyber fraud that exploited the Aadhaar update system during the Police Constable Recruitment Exam-2023. In a statement, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said: 'Such criminal acts, which cause injustice to deserving candidates, will not be tolerated in Madhya Pradesh. Taking suo motu cognizance, the Police Headquarters is conducting a thorough examination of biometric data and Aadhaar history of all successful candidates. In cases where impersonation is found at first glance, criminal cases have been registered against the candidates and strict action is being ensured.' The directive comes as investigators have allegedly uncovered an interstate network spanning multiple states that manipulated biometric data to help unqualified candidates fraudulently pass the recruitment examination. According to sources, the investigation has allegedly revealed that the organised gang rented login IDs of several Aadhaar centre agents. They also indicate the gang cloned agents' retina and biometric data that served as passwords for these IDs, with one agent having his ID rented for Rs 3,000 per month. Inspector General of Police (Law and Order) Anshuman Singh said that during investigation, it was also found that some Aadhaar card vendors uploaded requests for biometric changes to the Aadhaar system without proper verification. 'The accused candidates exploited this lapse to commit the crime,' he said. The sophisticated operation allegedly utilised remote access applications to control candidates' systems from Delhi while updating their Aadhaar with the gang's own biometric data. After examinations concluded, the IDs were changed back to their original state, allowing imposters known as 'solvers' to be sent to exam centres with altered identities. The gang updated biometric data in candidates' Aadhaar cards before the exam and altered it again afterward. Police said the irregularities were first detected in November 2024 when documents of five candidates in Morena raised suspicions during the Physical Proficiency Test. This discovery prompted the police headquarters to issue directives on April 21, 2025, requiring re-verification of biometric and Aadhaar history for all selected candidates during character verification and appointment phases. The probe has led to the registration of 21 cases against 22 candidates across multiple districts, with seven cases in Morena, six in Shivpuri, two in Sheopur, and one each in Indore, Datia, Gwalior, Alirajpur, Rajgarh, and Shahdol.
