Aserie Ndlovu, Zodwa Mdhluli case: Three more suspects arrested amid wait for DNA results

Three additional suspects have been arrested in connection with the disappearance of journalist Sibusiso Aserie Ndlovu and his partner, Zodwa Precious Mdhuli.
They were apprehended in the early hours of Tuesday morning, according to the South African Police Service (Saps).
This follows a public alert issued over the weekend, in which authorities asked for assistance in locating Thato David Madisha and Sello 'Skhalo' Uoane.
Sibusiso Aserie Ndlovu case: More suspects nabbed
The police have now confirmed the arrests of Madisha and Uoane.
The two men, aged 24 and 43 respectively, were found at a hideout in Nokaneng near Rust De Winter, along with a third unidentified individual.
Mpumalanga police spokesperson Jabu Ndubane confirmed that the three suspects are expected to appear at the KwaMhlanga Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.
They face charges of kidnapping, hijacking, and house robbery.

National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola praised both the investigative team and members of the public for their role in the arrests.
'We thank the people of South Africa, particularly Mpumalanga, who have assisted our investigating team in tracing these suspects,' Masemola said in a statement.
'The social media community must also be appreciated for sharing the pictures of these suspects far and wide.
'Together, we can do more with the cooperation of communities in fighting crime and apprehending dangerous criminals.'
Investigation continues into Sibusiso Aserie Ndlovu's disappearance
Mpumalanga Acting Police Commissioner Zeph Mkhwanazi echoed the sentiment, describing the arrests as a major breakthrough.
'We are utilising all available resources to uncover the truth behind what has transpired to the two victims.
'We are encouraged by the team's diligent efforts, which are yielding positive results,' he said.
Mkhwanazi added that investigations remain ongoing, and police are committed to holding all responsible parties accountable.

The arrests follow the discovery of human remains near Rust De Winter, believed to belong to the missing couple.
Forensic testing is currently underway to confirm the identities, with results still pending.
'A DNA matching process is already underway to match the human remains found with the DNA of close family members,' national police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe said on Tuesday.
Ndlovu and Mdhluli were last seen on 18 February, driving in a white Volkswagen Citi Golf.
Total arrests rise to eight
The total number of suspects arrested in the case has now risen to eight.
Previously, five individuals were apprehended in various villages around KwaMhlanga, Mpumalanga.
They face multiple charges, including kidnapping, carjacking, house robbery, possession of suspected stolen property, possession of a suspected stolen vehicle, and drug possession.
Among them is a 17-year-old minor who was released into the custody of his parents.
The others remain in custody and had already appeared in court as of last week.

The first suspect arrested in connection with the case, Samuel Mogongwe, was reportedly the last person seen with the missing couple before their disappearance.
The 41-year-old was well known to the victims and their families, having worked as their taxi driver.
The police have recovered two VW Citi Golfs, allegedly fitted with parts suspected to be from Ndlovu's vehicle.
In addition, several home appliances, including a fridge, stove, and microwave, believed to have been stolen from the couple's residence, have also been retrieved.

Constable shoots three people, killing one, before turning gun on himself
A police constable allegedly shot his colleague and two other people — killing one of them — before turning the gun on himself in the Machunwini area of the Harry Gwala district in the early hours of Saturday. Olorato Mongale murder suspect wanted to end his life, says last person to see him before shoot-out with cops
The Mason Arbor Town tenant who rents vehicles — including one to Makhanya last year — and asked not to be named told TimesLIVE the murder suspect visited him in the early hours of Wednesday and again on Thursday. He said on Wednesday Makhanya called him to hire a car. 'He wanted me to give him an address or I must direct him to my place. When he got here I gave him a code. When he came here he was a person who desperately needed a car and he was with another person,' said the tenant. 'I had learnt he was someone who was being pursued by the police. I told him I am unable to do business with him because his photo was being circulated widely,' he said. He said Makhanya came back a day later with the same plea. 'He asked me to hear him out and expressed his intentions to kill himself. He was crying while we were in the parking lot,' he said. The tenant said Makhanya accompanied him to his third floor flat where he opened up about his life. 'He told me his mother was against this [criminal activities] and often called him out. But he did not listen to his mother. He said had he listened to his mother then things would have been OK,' said the tenant. 'The whole conversation took over three hours and he wanted to kill himself. There was just the two of us and I was in a predicament because I had to calm him down. I told him the solution was not to kill himself but rather own up and get sentenced because he said both his parents were working. 'I could not do anything at the time because I did not know what he would do. Even though he had taken me to his confidence, I did not feel safe. I also did not spot the firearm but saw the cellphones he had,' said the tenant. He said he was alarmed to learn about a string of cases Makhanya was facing and that he did not intend to kill the former TimesLIVE journalist but rather he wanted to extort money from her. He said Makhanya finally agreed to hand himself over to the Amanzimtoti police at dawn. 'He even told me he wanted to take a moment and pray which is the time when the police invaded my place,' said the tenant. He said the incident had taken a toll on him. The tenant would not elaborate on the shooting between Makhanya and the police, or where he was during the incident. KwaZulu-Natal police commissioner Lt-Gen Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi said the suspect was found with 28 ID cards and about 20 cellphones. 'Fraudster' arrested after allegedly confessing to RDP housing scam
A woman who allegedly scammed a number of people by promising to fast-track their applications for government-subsidised housing has been arrested after allegedly walking into the Gauteng department of human settlements office and confessing her crimes. The woman told a senior official at the department's customer support centre earlier this week she had illegally collected more than R100,000 from members of the public, the department said She claimed she could help them 'jump the housing waiting list' and secure Breaking New Ground or RDP houses. The official alerted authorities and the suspect was apprehended in a joint operation by the department and the Ekurhuleni metro police. She is now in police custody and faces charges of fraud. Human settlements MEC Tasneem Motara praised the official who escalated the matter. 'I commend the official who acted responsibly and was not tempted to get involved in corrupt activity herself. We are serious about cracking down on corruption and fraud, especially those who are trying to take advantage of citizens who have a real need to be allocated [housing] as soon as possible.' The department reiterated warnings about housing scams and reminded the public it does not charge for any of its services. It urged residents to remain alert and avoid being duped by individuals who falsely claim to be government officials. 'Please be aware of unscrupulous individuals who pose as officials from the Gauteng department of human settlement — falsely claiming to be MECs or heads of department to deceive and extort money from the public.'
