Heavy rain likely in Odisha over next 4 days

Bhubaneswar, Aug 17 (PTI) Heavy rain is likely in Odisha during the next four days with the formation of a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal on Sunday, the IMD said.
The low-pressure area, which was formed around 8.30 am, is expected to concentrate into a depression during the next 24 hours and cross the south Odisha-north Andhra Pradesh coasts on the morning of August 19, it said.
Under its impact, heavy rainfall is expected to lash different parts of the state for four days, it said.
Heavy rainfall with thunderstorms is likely in Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, and Nuapada districts on Monday, it added. PTI BBM BBM SOM

Previously, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo on Sunday confirmed that 61 people have lost their lives in the cloudburst and flash flood incident that occurred in the Kishtwar district, while 116 individuals have been rescued so far. Addressing the media, Chief Secretary Dulloo said, "...61 people have lost their lives in the incident. Security forces and various agencies have launched a collective search and rescue operation. CISF, J&K Police, CRPF, BRO, Indian Army, and NHPC were present at the spot immediately after the incident. Almost 450 people are working there day and night in a rescue operation. 116 people have been rescued so far."Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) Deputy Inspector General (DIG) MK Yadav stated that the rescue operations are ongoing and efforts are being made to locate and save those still missing."Rescue operations are ongoing here, and JCB machines are also working NDRF, local police, and CISF have all been divided into teams, zoning up the area. All agencies are working are hopeful of saving more people who are missing, who are trapped inside boulders, muddy areas, we are trying our best to get them out. Moderate earthquake hits eastern Nepal district
Agency: PTI Last Updated: Kathmandu, Aug 17 (PTI) An earthquake measuring magnitude 4.0 struck Ramechhap district of eastern Nepal on Sunday. However, there was no immediate report of any damage caused by the earthquake. The epicentre of the quake that occurred at 3.43 pm local time was located at Helamcho area in Ramechhap, 150 kms east of Kathmandu, according to National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Centre (NEMRC). The earthquake was also felt in neighbouring Dolakha, Sindhuli and Kavrepalanchowk districts. Situated on the precarious Himalayan seismic zone, Nepal is a highly earthquake prone country. Heavy rains lash parts of Delhi; minimum temperature at 25.6 degrees
NEW DELHI: Rains lashed different parts of the national capital on Sunday afternoon. Areas such as Dhaula Kuan, Naraina, Patel Nagar, Vijay Chowk, Jangpura, Rohini, Firozshah Road and Parliament Street received rainfall, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said. According to the IMD, the city recorded 1 mm rain in the 24 hours ending 8.30 am on Sunday. Meanwhile, the city recorded a minimum temperature of 25.6 degrees Celsius, 0.9 notches below the season's average. Relative humidity was recorded at 90 per cent at 8.30 am. The air quality remained in the 'satisfactory' category at 4 pm, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) reading of 91, the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data showed. According to the CPCB, an AQI between zero and 50 is considered 'good', 51 to 100 'satisfactory', 101 to 200 'moderate', 201 to 300 'poor', 301 to 400 'very poor', and 401 to 500 'severe'.
