Meet the Middle Eastern Designers Shortlisted for the 2025 LVMH Prize

The LVMH Prize for Young Fashion Designers has long been a launchpad for emerging talent, highlighting designers who are shaping the future of fashion. Now in its 12th year, the 2025 edition continues this legacy with a highly competitive field—2,300 designers from across the globe applied, each vying for a place on one of the industry's most prestigious platforms.
From thousands of applicants, 20 semi-finalists from 15 countries remain. Among them, three designers from the Arab world - Cynthia Merhej (Lebanon), Yasmin Mansour (Egypt & Qatar), Ahmed and Razan Hassan (Saudi Arabia) - are gaining attention.
On March 5th and 6th, these designers will present their collections in Paris, competing before the public and a panel of industry leaders. The LVMH Prize winner receives a EUR 400,000 grant and a year of mentorship. The Karl Lagerfeld Prize runner-up is awarded EUR 200,000 and mentorship, while the Savoir-Faire Prize grants EUR 200,000 and mentorship to a designer specializing in craftsmanship. Founded in 2022 by siblings Ahmed and Razan Hassan, KML bridges the past and present through concept-driven designs rooted in historical research. With a deep appreciation for the evolution of human dress, the label reinterprets heritage through a minimalist, modern lens, creating thoughtful pieces that connect tradition with contemporary relevance.

Dedicated to championing alternative Arab and Mediterranean music, the festival has built a reputation for pushing boundaries and amplifying emerging voices from across the region and its diaspora. This year's lineup features a genre-defying mix: Tunisian pop, Maghreb hip-hop, Syrian rap, indie soul, and electronic experiments that capture the pulse of a generation in motion. Artists include Si Lemhaf, ODA, Tamman, Dhalma, DJAM & TiMoh, Nejia, Ziineb, Maris Ben, Dawan, and Soolek, each bringing a unique take on the region's soundscape. Taking place at Le Point Fort d'Aubervilliers, the event transforms the venue into a full-day celebration of music and culture. Alongside ten back-to-back concerts, attendees can explore a creative market, sample regional street food, and take part in workshops and activities for all ages. Tunis-sur-Seine has always been a meeting point for diasporic memory, hybrid identities, and artistic resistance. Five years in, it remains a vital platform for Arab artists who defy categorization and rewrite the rules of genre, language, and belonging.

Bad Boys For Life directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah are helming the film from a script by Mohamed El-Dabbah. The pic is based on a story by the head of Saudi Arabia's General Entertainment Authority Turki Al-Sheikh and the Big Time team. The cast also includes Menna Shalaby, Tara Emad, Hannah El Zahed, Sayed Ragab, Saudi Arabian actor Nasser Al Qasabi, Hala Sedki, and more. The pic will be the first film to be shot in Big Time Al-Husn Studios, one of MENA region's biggest film and television production facilities, with additional shooting at Riyadh Boulevard. Riyadh will serve as a stand-in for multiple international cities, including Mumbai and Shanghai. The film is considered to be the largest Arab film production to date with a budget exceeding $40 million. The $40M project is being hailed as a gamechanger for Saudi Arabia as it continues its drive to become the Middle East and North Africa's biggest film and TV hub. It is produced by Jeddah-based entertainment company Sela, with Ivan Atkinson (The Gentlemen, Wrath of Man) lead producing. "The Seven Dogs" marks the fourth collaboration between Abdel Aziz and Ahmed Ezz after blockbuster films "Welad Rizk 3: El Qadya" and "Kira & El Gin" and season 2 of the critically acclaimed TV series 'El Ekhteyar ll'. In the film, Ezz plays Interpol officer Khalid Al-Azzazi, who apprehends Ghali Abu Dawood (Aziz), a high-ranking member of the clandestine global crime syndicate known as 7 Dogs. A year later, the organization resurfaces, trafficking a dangerous new drug—Pink Lady—across the Middle East. With time running out, Khalid reluctantly join forces with Ghali, the only person with intimate knowledge of the syndicate's operations. Their uneasy alliance propels them on a high-stakes mission across multiple global cities as they strive to dismantle the organization and prevent the drug from flooding Arab streets.
