Shoppers can't get enough of the hand-painted fashion trend - this is the Aussie-born brand leading the charge
That leap of faith became MAKU the Label, a Melbourne-based fashion brand that launched in 2024 and is already making waves for its mix of wearable art, thoughtful design and storytelling.
The label's latest release, the Wildflower collection, is a heartfelt nod to resilience, natural beauty and the courage it takes to live authentically.
Each piece is more than just fabric and thread. From hand-drawn botanicals to vintage-inspired graphics, the garments feel like living canvases, carrying the same emotional depth as the art they stem from.
Maku's designs begin in her family home, which she shares with her husband Kyall and their two children, making the process as personal as the pieces themselves.
Every brushstroke reflects not only her creative spirit but also her belief that fashion should connect to the values of the people wearing it.
The Wildflower collection features a line-up of ready-to-wear staples that balance practicality with artistry.
The standout Wildflower Bomber is reversible, with a quilted pomegranate lining on one side and delicate botanical illustrations on the other.
The Love Bug Long Sleeve brings a playful, whimsical twist to everyday dressing, while the Wildflower Long Sleeve showcases original artwork in a relaxed silhouette.
Completing the range, the Linen Pants are breathable and tailored, $149, delivering comfort without compromising on design.
What sets MAKU apart isn't just the artistry, but the ethos behind it. The brand is built on a foundation of sustainability and responsibility, working with partners and suppliers who share the same values.
MAKU the Label is available through The Iconic, Stylerunner, Superette and their own website, giving shoppers an easy way to add a touch of artistry to their wardrobes.
For those looking for clothes that tell a story while still being versatile and wearable, the Wildflower collection is one to keep an eye on.

Jelena Dokic stuns as the Aussie tennis star looks slimmer than ever while on holiday with her new 'love' Yane Veselinov in Bali
Jelena Dokic has stunned as she popped up in Bali, Indonesia, looking slimmer than ever while on holiday with her new man, Yane Veselinov. The retired tennis great, 42, has publicly chronicled her weight loss journey after shedding around 20 kilos through diet and lifestyle changes. She credits her success to a healthy diet and an exercise regimen, which includes working out at the gym at 6 am while working 18-hour days. Dokic recently went public with her relationship with Veselinov, a Melbourne-based hospitality relations manager, on Instagram. And now the couple have taken their budding romance to the next level, embarking on their first holiday together at the popular tourist destination. Dokic took to Instagram on Thursday to share snaps of the pair enjoying the famed Monkey Forest in Ubud. While viewers loved the happy photos of Jelena beaming beside a couple of monkeys, all eyes were on the tennis great's slimmed-down figure. She donned a fashionable cream midi dress cinched at the waist and adorned with tortoise-shell buttons at the animal sanctuary. Her hair was slicked back in the humid weather, accentuating her slender face and light but flattering makeup. "Great experience. You look lovely!" one fan wrote in the comments. "Looking gorgeous," another person said. Jelena stunned again in another snap of herself donning a bold red lip and white dress with her boyfriend, who she lovingly referred to as "my love". After the couple enjoyed a tropical dinner, they visited the Elephant Safari Park Lodge where Dokic's casual ensemble showed off her muscles. The tennis star opted for a pair of sandals, fuchsia pink linen trousers and a white singlet, under which her well-earned abs were visible. Her dedication to her diet and exercise regimen was even more evident as she posed beside one of the elephants and even fed the giant mammal. More fans flooded the comments of her holiday snaps to praise the star. "I love seeing you looking so radiantly happy, Jelena," one person said. "Enjoy all your rest and recreation." Another fan wrote: "Jelena, you look absolutely stunning and happy". A third person said the tennis great was "looking so happy and relaxed!". Jelena and Yane's getaway comes after she won the Silver Logie for Best Factual or Documentary Program for Unbreakable: The Jelena Dokic Story at the 2025 Logie Awards at Sydney's The Star earlier this month. Dokic hit the red carpet solo at TV's night of nights despite having just recently gone public with Veselinov shortly beforehand. Nevertheless, the hospital manager later took to Instagram to share a photo holding her gong alongside some heartfelt words of support. "Honoured to be holding this incredible Logie award," Veselinov wrote. Dokic confirmed her relationship with Veselinov last month after published bombshell footage of the pair getting cosy at Melbourne Airport. "You are my calm, safe, peaceful and happy place. So glad I found you," she wrote alongside a romantic snap with her new partner. The tennis great split from her previous partner Tin Bukic in late 2022 after an almost two-decade-long relationship.

Wallabies pub king Bill Young splashes out on the Gem Hotel
The LVMH maisons, as they are called, will anchor the revamped luxe area of the Chatswood Chase shopping centre owned by the ASX-listed Vicinity Centres, which is undertaking a $200 million-plus redevelopment of the property. Vicinity is also co-owner of the Melbourne-based Chadstone Shopping Centre, which is also a mega site for luxe retailers. Once completed, Chatswood Chase will house a comprehensive collection of global luxury brands, complemented by a mix of premium Australian and international designer fashion labels, along with a selection of the popular athleisure sector and lifestyle brands. It comes as LVMH is said to be looking at another site in the city to add to its King and George Street maison. A weakening in sales for luxury retail brands in the past year has not deterred the opening of top-end stores, with Westfield also expanding its City mall with new luxe retail offerings at its Market and Castlereagh Street store, anchored by a flagship Chanel shop. Transport NSW offloads The NSW government's Transport NSW department is looking to raise some cash from the sale of two sites in North Sydney that it bought in 2017 as part of the Sydney Metro rail project. At the time, the department splurged about $300 million in North Sydney and Crows Nest on office blocks, shops and apartments. The plan was to demolish the sites for the new metro stations. It is now selling two excess properties at 194-196a Miller Street. Sitting opposite the new Victoria Cross Metro Station, adjoining Monte Sant' Angelo Mercy College, the properties comprise 961 sq m of land and 2274 sq m of net lettable area. They're being offered for sale in one line or individually. The properties are currently leased to Lendlease until December, roughly in line with the likely opening of the $1.2 billion Victoria Cross tower. The Colliers team of Tom Appleby, Joseph Lin and Charlie Gilmour are managing the sale. Rosebery to Rockdale Demand for industrial property is strong, with investors circling two prominent sites in the tightly held Sydney south. Fund manager and developer Centennial is testing the market with 74 Mentmore Avenue, Rosebery, being a hybrid commercial asset. No price guide was disclosed. The four-level, 3207-sq-m boutique building is fully leased to Vocus, an internet traffic provider, and is equipped to meet the growing demand for data centre expansion. Michael Crombie and Jackson Wray from Colliers are managing the sale on behalf of Centennial. Another site at 395 West Botany Street, Rockdale, is being offered by a private investor for about $28 million. Spanning 3816 sq m on a substantial 7206-sq-m site, the property is anchored by a new five-year lease to Repco, and until recently, was also home to Fitness First.
