In a post, the page told its 64k followers: 'Spotted this in my local Tesco Express – not sure if all stores, but maybe useful to someone.'
The post was accompanied by a picture of croissants and chocolate twists on a shelf with the '7pm' label next to them, adding: 'Excludes bread and gingerbread.' The supermarket giant will now reduce the price of various baked goods from 7pm in a bid to 'prevent good food from going to waste.'
Yorkshire Live reached out to the supermarket regarding the change, to which they responded: 'Markdowns on fresh products continue to be popular and help to prevent good food from going to waste.'
They added: 'If we can't sell food, we redistribute it to charities and community groups, and offer it to colleagues for free.'
The spokesperson explained that stores are making the reductions to bakery items each day to prevent food waste. 'Whilst this is generally at around 7pm, timings can vary by store,' they continued.

Galway City Council looking to lease former €8m cinema free of charge
Galway City Coucil have invited proposals for the redevelopment of beloved venue, Pálás. The arthouse cinema and cultural space, which opened in 2017 following a lengthy construction period, announced on social media late last year that they will be closing their doors for the last time at the end of February 2025. The cinema, located in the Galway docks, took to social media to confirm the closure, saying that while they worked hard to avoid the inevitable, they can no longer continue trading due to the rising costs and competition. Galway City Coucil have invited proposals for the redevelopment of beloved venue, Pálás. Pic: Facebook 'It is with deep regret that after seven years of trading, Pálás will be closing its doors at the end of February 2025,' the cinema wrote. 'To many, Pálás is more than just a cinema and we have loved being a part of the community. 'We are so proud of our incredible team, the partnerships we have forged and the loyal audience we have fostered for Irish, arthouse and independent films in Galway. 'We have worked hard to avoid this outcome but the stark reality is rising costs and the oversaturation of the Galway cinema market have made continued trading unviable, and we have taken the difficult decision to withdraw from the business.' The arthouse cinema and cultural space, which opened in 2017 following a lengthy construction period, announced on social media late last year that they will be closing their doors for the last time at the end of February 2025. Pic:'We intend to provide the best possible filmgoing experience until we close our doors and we look forward to welcoming audiences until then. We are forever grateful for all of the love and support you have shown us over the last seven years. Go raibh maith agaibh as bhur dtacaíocht leanúnach ar feadh na mblianta.' The cinema operated under element Pictures, the group that also operate the Lighthouse Cinema in Dublin 7. Located on Merchants Road, the now council-owned building currently accommodates 322 seats across its three screens, while also including a box office, café and bar space and office space. Galway City Council have said that the successful redevelopment applicant will have full operational use of the facility on a long-term lease without charge, with no further financial support provided. An independent commercial review provided three suggested options for the redevelopment of the building: Re-opening of the property as a cultural space featuring one operational cinema with other areas repurposed for community and cultural use. Re-purposing of the property to become more tourism focused with a focus on cultural tourism. Re-configuration of the property to operate as a mix of commercial space generating annual rents combined with allocation of space for community use The Council also says the expression of interest is not limited to these suggestions and invited those looking to apply to share any additional ideas. The property will be available to view on June 18, with interested parties invited to submit their proposals in advance.

UK supermarket Asda seeing 'green shoots' of recovery
The boss of British supermarket Asda said he was seeing "green shoots" of recovery after the group slowed the rate of its sales decline in its first quarter, helped by lower prices and better product availability. Asda, Britain's third largest food retailer after Tesco and Sainsbury's, said like-for-like sales in the four months to April 30, adjusted to include Easter trading, declined by 3.1% - an improvement on the 4.2% fall in the previous quarter. Asda said it had seen further improvements in May. "Although we are seeing the green shoots in sales performance, there is a long way to go," executive chairman Allan Leighton said. Private equity firm TDR Capital, Asda's majority owner, brought Leighton back to the grocer in November, more than two decades after he served as CEO and turned the chain around before selling it to Walmart. In March, Leighton warned his plan to be 5% to 10% cheaper than rivals would "materially reduce" profit. His comment hit the shares of Tesco and Sainsbury's on fears of a price war. Asda said it had cut the prices of about 10,000 products, more than a third of its range, establishing a price gap of 3% to 6% over its full-service supermarket rivals. It said product availability had increased from 90% to 95% since January, while customer satisfaction had also improved. "People who've been in the industry a long time are amazed at the progress that we've made on availability in a relatively short period of time," Leighton told reporters. Industry data published earlier this week showed Asda's sales fell 3.2% over the 12 weeks to May 18 year-on-year, with the group's market share down 90 basis points to 12.1%.
