Slip to the Brit beach run returns to Aberdyfi in May
The Slip to the Brit has been organised by Gary and Seona Loveman, who own the Britannia Inn, since 2022.
The event has raised almost £5,000 for the Wales Air Ambulance in the past two years.
Ms Loveman said: "It's a 'must do' in the diaries of residents, they have really embraced it."
The event, which takes place on Saturday, May 3, sees people of all fitness levels take on the challenge.
Some aim to complete the course at record speed, while others dress as their favourite character or walk their dog.
Ms Loveman said: "People with all sorts of fitness levels can join in.
"But of course, the more serious competitors will be looking to achieve a personal best.
"However, there will be others who'll come down dressed as their favourite character, or with family and friends to walk their dog.
"They will still put £10 in the bucket because they want to support the Charity."
The event will begin at the boat launching slipway in Tywyn, off the seafront car park, and continues along the shoreline.
It follows the wide, sandy beach, all the way round the corner into the estuary and back up the slipway at Dovey Yacht Club into Aberdyfi village.
From there, you can see The Brit.
Ms Loveman said: "It's quite a popular walk anyway, because of the fabulous scenery.
"It's always sandy and yes, we have already checked, it will be low tide on the day."
The event not only raises funds for the lifesaving service but also helps highlight Aberdyfi and businesses from the area.

She said: "There are six bars and restaurants along our stretch, and we all support each other.
"There is no point in being competitive.
"The more people we can attract to the area, the better it is for all of us.
"So, we each do something a little different each day to encourage visitors and foodies.
"On the day of Slip to the Brit, there will be live music with a home-grown musician."

The last two events have raised nearly £5,000 for the Wales Air Ambulance.
Elaine Orr, the charity's North West Wales regional fundraising manager, said: "Slip to the Brit is such a wonderful event.
"We are so grateful to Gary and Seona for once again raising funds for our lifesaving service.
"Each year, the wonderful community of Aberdyfi comes together not only to support our charity but local businesses too, which is so important.
"Without events like this, we would not be able to continue to do what we do.
"Every pound raised helps save lives."

Folly Farm's orphaned lamb and goat become inseparable
Ted, a seven-week-old Torwen lamb, and Gary, a three-month-old Golden Guernsey goat kid, have formed a special bond at Folly Farm. Gary is described as 'cheeky' and full of mischief, while Ted has 'everyone wrapped around his little hoof.' Both animals lost their mothers shortly after birth and have been hand-reared together by the farm team, who gave them round-the-clock care. Kim, farm manager, said: "We only hand rear animals when absolutely necessary, and it's taken a lot of dedication to ensure both Ted the Torwen and Gary the Golden Guernsey have the best start, but it's been totally worth it. "They've certainly stolen our hearts and are adored by our staff and guests – especially when we're able to take them out for our meet and greet sessions." Ted and Gary currently live together in the Jolly Barn at Folly Farm. The two young animals are not just adorable—they also represent important conservation work. Both Torwen sheep and Golden Guernsey goats are listed as 'at risk' by the Rare Breeds Survival Trust. Folly Farm is the first Welsh farm park to achieve rare breeds status from the RBST, recognising its dedication to conserving rare livestock breeds. The farm features paddocks with rare breed farm animals from across the UK, with a focus on Welsh breeds like Ted. Visitors can now see Ted and Gary in the Jolly Barn, where they have become a popular attraction.

Gary Lineker reunites with estranged brother Wayne after 17-year fallout
Following a 17-year feud, Gary Lineker and brother Wayne have seemingly reconciled. The sports pundit, 64, and entrepreneur, 63, are believed to have fallen out amid Gary's marriage to second wife Danielle Bux, which lasted from 2009 to 2016. But both looked closer than ever as they reunited for Gary's second-oldest son's wedding over the weekend. Harry, 31, tied the knot with his fiancée Annabelle in Ibiza, where the drinks were flowing and celebrations turned raucous pretty swiftly. Sharing content to Instagram from the special occasion, Gary was captured downing alcohol from a bottle before it was passed to his younger brother. Wayne also posted pics alongside his kids, the O Beach owner being a proud father to four children from his first marriage. As son Freddie towered over him, the dad and son duo posed by the pool, Wayne dressed in white trousers and a beige blazer. His caption read: 'The boys are ready for the big family wedding today as my nephew @harry_lineker weds the beautiful @bellacfh_ 💍🧡 'My boy @freddie_lineker looking good 🔥' In a later post, he stood with his arm around daughter Tia, who wore a gold slip dress. 'Princess goals 🧡', he penned sweetly. Meanwhile, Gary is yet to share any of his own content from the celebrations or reply to Wayne's social media uploads. As for the history of their so-called feud, it dates back to 2008, when Gary brought Danielle to Ibiza for a family holiday. Speaking to The Sun in April 2015, Wayne mused: 'In my opinion, Danielle cost me my relationship with my brother.' 'Sadly, Gary is no longer a part of my life,' he confessed. 'They came to Ibiza in August 2008, and it was really awkward. I didn't spark with Danielle, and our relationship was cold.' It's believed their frequent phone calls and home visits then ceased, with Wayne claiming the frosty atmosphere with Danielle – who 'stayed in her room' on the first day and did not socialise at night – caused the friction. He says he never had a conversation with her during the trip. Consequently, Wayne did not attend Gary and Danielle's wedding, despite the sibling being best man at Gary's first wedding to Michelle Cockayne in 1986. Wayne refused to go because his then-girlfriend of 18 months, Ana Tanaka, was also not invited. 'She was a lovely, polite girl, and not a five-minute girlfriend,' Wayne previously defended. The club owner claims he has attempted to build bridges over the years, including for Gary's 50th birthday celebrations. However, they shared a phone call that lasted mere seconds. 'I would love nothing more than him to call me up tomorrow and ask to go to lunch to speak about it, but I don't think it's going to happen,' Wayne said. Ultimately, Gary and Danielle announced in January 2016 that they were divorcing, the reason given being that Gary did not want more kids. As for the perspective of the Leicester-born footie star, it was once claimed that he didn't approve of Wayne's lifestyle. In a 2015 interview, Wayne's old friend and former PR man, Neil Deal, claimed: 'Gary had a bit of a problem with Wayne's party lifestyle. 'He and his brother used to get along well enough, but they were worlds apart. 'And as Gary became more famous in sport and TV, Wayne seemed to become more of a party animal to compensate, and they just grew apart.' Some of the latest comments from either brother on the matter came from Wayne in 2017, when he suggested they were finally on somewhat better terms. Speaking to The Sunday Mirror, he revealed they were 'talking' again. 'We are not how we were years and years ago, but we speak more now,' he shared, adding that they were 'slowly getting there'. 'It's important. He's my brother. We were so close. We used to play golf twice a week, go to each other's houses, and speak every day on the phone.' Nevertheless, Wayne has always been close with Gary's sons George, Harry, Angus, and Tobias, who often fly out to see him in Ibiza, with George specifically visiting 'three times a year'. 'All the boys are fantastic; they are all mad and love a drink, love a girl, and there is nothing wrong with that,' Wayne previously spilled. 'Whereas my boys, believe it or not… Dwayne, my eldest, is like Gary. He is the father of our relationship, not me. More Trending 'My son ends up looking after me. I'll be sitting on the streets of San Antonio at 7am, acting an idiot, and he will come and say, 'Dad, what are you doing?'' Wayne has also insisted he is Gary's 'biggest fan', joking once that he is now 'very good at presenting' after being 'absolutely rubbish' when he first started. Last month, Gary signed off from hosting Match of the Day one last time, having fronted the BBC highlights show for 26 years and sat comfortably as their highest-paid star with a salary of £1.4million. Gary Lineker beams as he celebrates son's wedding after BBC exit
Gary Lineker, 64, looked dapper as he attended his son George's wedding over the weekend alongside estranged brother Wayne Lineker, just days after his BBC exit. Gary Lineker was spotted looking dapper and upbeat at his son's nuptials last weekend. The 64-year-old broadcaster enjoyed the sweet family event, which comes following his recent BBC exit. His son George, 33, took to Instagram to share heartwarming moments from the wedding on Monday, June 2, with those in attendance also including Gary 's estranged brother Wayne. A touching photo was posted by George showing him and his dad smiling together as they celebrated the big day. The joyous family gathering follows a rough few weeks for Gary, since being relieved of his BBC duties following his views on Israel's presence in Gaza. The former England footballer and commentator's departure came prematurely after he shared a pro-Palestine video concerning the Gaza conflict on social media. The video contained a controversial cartoon rat emoji linked to antisemitic symbols, as reported by the Mirror. Amid backlash, Gary issued an apology on Monday, May 19, for any distress caused, clarifying that he would "never consciously repost anything anti-Semitic". The football icon announced his decision to scale back from his prominent presenting role after 20 years. Despite recent tough times in his career, there's a potential silver lining with his brother Wayne following their attendance at the family wedding. Gary and Wayne were reportedly embroiled in a bitter feud that caused tension within the family. Wayne alleged their relationship turned sour after Gary began dating Danielle Bux in 2008, whom he wed the next year but divorced in 2016. "In my opinion, Danielle cost me my relationship with my brother. Sadly Gary is no longer a part of my life," Wayne disclosed to The Sun in April 2015. Wayne was left baffled when their regular phone chats and visits suddenly stopped, according to reports. The Ibiza beach club owner was at a loss as to why they lost touch within a year, attributing it to an uncomfortable initial encounter with Danielle. "They came to Ibiza in August 2008 and it was really awkward. I didn't spark with Danielle and our relationship was cold," Wayne recounted. He claimed that Danielle secluded herself in her room on the first day and then there was no communication between them during a night out the following evening. Keen not to cause a stir with his brother, Wayne refrained from confronting Gary about the chilliness, yet that holiday marked the last interaction he had with Danielle. Although Wayne had been the best man at Gary's first marriage to Michelle Cockayne in 1986, he was conspicuously absent from Gary's second wedding. Wayne reportedly declined to attend his brother's wedding after being informed that his then-girlfriend, model Ana Tanaka, wasn't on the guest list just months before the big day. "He was my brother and he was telling me that I couldn't bring my girlfriend of a year and a half to his wedding. She was a lovely, polite girl, and not a five-minute girlfriend," Wayne said. Wayne recounted how his efforts to mend their relationship were unsuccessful, with an uncomfortable phone call on Gary's 50th birthday ending in under a minute. Wayne stated: "I would love nothing more than him to call me up tomorrow and ask to go to lunch to speak about it, but I don't think it's going to happen." Despite the estrangement, Wayne has maintained a strong connection with Gary's sons, George, Harry, Angus, and Tobias, who often visit him in Ibiza. "All four come here. They always say 'If Carlsberg made uncles, then I'm the man'. They get treated amazingly. George comes three times a year," Wayne disclosed. Even with their disagreements, Wayne has never stopped being "immensely proud" of Gary. Upon learning that Gary was the BBC's second-highest earner in August 2017, with an annual salary between £1,750,000-£1,799,999, Wayne felt his brother was worth every penny. Acknowledging himself as Gary's "biggest fan", Wayne commented: "He is very good at presenting now. I remember watching him when he first started, he was absolutely rubbish. "He was so nervous doing Match of the Day, but within six months he got his confidence sorted. When he started he had to replace Des Lynam, Des was fantastic in his day, he was the man. Trying to follow that is really difficult, but Gary pulled it off. Within two years he was established and now he is the main man. "There is probably no one better. He works hard and is a very intelligent man. He has always been protective of his image, which has paid off in the years. He is a very respected man and has done well."
