BINI files criminal case over alleged ‘spliced video' of Pinoy street food review

BINI has filed a criminal case over an alleged spliced video that fueled hate and bashing against them online. In a statement posted on Instagram, Atty. Joji Alonso said the case is under Section 4B of the anti-cybercrime law in conjunction with unjust vexation. 'This emanated from the splicing of a 25-minute video of the BINI members, trying and rating Filipino street food. The uploaded spliced version was cut to 2-minutes and only showed only their negative reactions, completely changing the show's narrative,' Alonso said. 'This fueled online hate and bashing against BINI. This even escalated to personal attacks, name-calling, and grave insults. The malicious splicing of the video unjustly threw them in a bad light, causing irreparable emotional and mental distress.' All eight BINI members appeared in the video titled 'BINI Tries & Rates Filipino Snacks!' uploaded on the YouTube channel People Vs Food last July 8. In the video, they tried several Filipino food like kwek-kwek, isaw, balut, betamax, and more. Several short clips from the video spread on social media, focusing on specific reactions of the members. According to Alonso, BINI is taking a stand against this form of digital abuse. "It must be remembered that freedom to post online is not an absolute right, and must be accompanied by truth, accountability and responsibility. Right to free speech ends when it starts to malign reputations or cause harm and damage upon others," she said. Composed of Jhoanna, Stacey, Aiah, Mikha, Maloi, Sheena, Gwen, and Colet, BINI is known for their songs "Pantropiko" and "Salamin, Salamin."

Following Liza Soberano's tell-all, celebs leave supportive messages on actress' Instagram post

After Liza Soberano's cathartic tell-all, celebrity friends took the time to leave comments of support in her social media post about her "Can I Come In?" episode. Kelsey Merritt left emojis of a healing heart and teary eyed emoticon, while former beauty queen Katarina Rodriguez said she wanted "to hug you Liza." Drag Race star Marina Summers simply expressed her love for Liza. "Mahal Kita," she said. Stylist Perry Tabora said "Your strength and courage are your freedom," while model Sanya Smith thanked Liza for sharing her story. "This is beautifully done. So incredibly moving and so powerful. I haven't stopped crying since I just finished it," Pepe Smith's daughter continued. Jackie Forster promised to keep Liza in her prayers. "You are so brave and inspiring," she said. "Trust that in time all wounds heal. You need to know you are worthy and you are loved. Sending the biggest mama hugs to you. Please know you are not alone," Jackie thoughtfully said. "Can I Come In?" creator Sarah Bahbah told Liza, "I love you and I'm so proud of you." In her post that showed clips of her episode, Liza said she was "beyond honored and excited to have been part of this project." Tagging Bahbah, the Filipino-American actress complimented the director saying "your vision and creativity are absolutely transcendent." "You have an incredible gift of transforming pain into healing, building cinematic worlds where raw emotion and narrative become visual art. The way you layer performance with storytelling deepens the emotional core, creating an achingly authentic resonance," Liza added. "It's been a dream collaborating with you and along the way you've become someone I feel safe confiding in. You have a beautiful heart," she said. Liza's episode on "Can I Come In?" has been the talk of the town. Apart from admitting she had split from Enrique Gil three years ago, Liza also opened up about her traumatic childhood, and the plenty abuses she endured. Liza's participation in "Can I Come In?" was first announced in May. The "podcast-cinema-documentary hybrid" created by Bahbah features six women artists from around the world. On YouTube, Bahbah said "Can I Come In?" is the "first-of-its-kind immersive art series, where vulnerability meets high-cinema." "Every guest is invited into a deeply personalized set to release a story they've never told before. Each episode is unscripted and captures the emotional essence of a lived experience, visually, viscerally, and unapologetically," she adds. Presented by WePresent, the first episode of "Can I Come In?" dropped last June 3. — LA, GMA Integrated News
