THIS is the horrific moment a two-year-old child accidentally shoots his mum dead after picking up his dad's gun and playing with it.
Video footage of Friday's tragedy showed the boy grabbing the firearm from a table before pulling the trigger as his mum turned to look at him.

The couple, who were at their home in the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso do Sul at the time, appeared so deep in conversation that they failed to notice their son holding the Glock 9mm pistol.
In a video captured by a home security camera, the victim is caught being shot in the chest and arm.
She initially seemed to have survived the shooting but after briefly standing up to examine her wounds she is quickly seen falling to the ground.
In a state of shock the youngster is captured running to his mum's aid as his dad grabs the lethal weapon from the floor.
The 27-year-old woman has been named locally as Deborah Rodrigues Monteiro and has been pictured in Brazilian media.
Police have launched an urgent investigation into the incident and have confirmed the husband, a farmer who had a licence for the weapon, will face manslaughter charges.
It has not yet been established whether the young boy will remain under the care of his dad or if he will be taken into social services.
Local police chief Danielle Felismino confirmed the gunshot victim had been taken to hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The weapon she was killed with and ammunition has been seized by detectives.
The autopsy is understood to have taken place yesterday morning although the results have not yet been made public.

Devastated locals jumped to social media to offer their condolences and share their support with the family.
One commenter wrote: 'My condolences to the family and friends. How sad!'
Whilst another added: 'My deepest condolences to the family and friends at such a difficult moment.'
This isn't the first time a tragic accident like this has taken place.
In June 2023, pregnant Ohio mother Laura Ilg and her unborn baby were killed after her toddler accidentally shot her in the back.
Police said afterwards that the two-year-old boy had retrieved the gun from a nightstand inside a room that's door had accidentally been left open.
The fatal incident also comes as a six-year-old was caught drowning in a pool as his cousin watched on helplessly.
Shocking footage showed the boy desperately trying to stay afloat before a quick-thinking stranger leapt into the water to help him.

The harrowing video pictured two cousins standing on the side of a Fort Lauderdale pool in Florida.
The six-year-old boy named Oscar is seen jumping onto a blue inflatable sunbed before losing his balance and falling into the water.
Seemingly unable to swim, he is seen flailing his arms around in a failed attempt to tread water.
Standing on the side of the pool, his cousin realises he can't do anything as he does not know how to swim either.
Desperate to help his drowning relative, the adult cousin tries dipping his feet in the water, in an attempt to get himself into the water too.
But he hesitates a few times when he realises he would also end up drowning.

Many lawmakers on list of suspected Minnesota shooter vow not to bow down

From a legislator in downtown Minneapolis to a veteran Ohio congresswoman, many lawmakers included in the suspected Minnesota gunman's list of targets have vowed not to bow down. Vance Boelter, 57, has been charged with federal murder and stalking, along with state charges, following a nearly two-day search that culminated in his capture in the woods near his home. He is suspected of shooting and killing former Democratic House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, in their home early Saturday. He is also accused of wounding Democratic Sen. John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette. The dozens of politicians included in Boelter's writings were Democrats, according to acting U.S. Attorney Joseph Thompson. About 45 were state and federal officials in Minnesota, while elected leaders in Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin said they were also mentioned in the writings. Authorities have not provided a motive for the shootings. Manny Atwal, Boelter's lead attorney, declined to comment, saying the office just got the case. Here's how some of the lawmakers in his writings are reacting to the violence: Minnesota state Rep. Esther Agbaje Agbaje spent the weekend with friends and family after learning that her name was on Boelter's list and said she is still trying to make sense of the violence. But since his arrest, the lawmaker, whose district includes portions of northern and downtown Minneapolis, has returned home. She said she now feels 'more committed than ever' to her work as a legislator. 'We cannot allow people to divide us and then use violence to keep up those divisions,' she said. U.S. Rep. Debbie Dingell, Michigan A day after Dingell learned her name was included in Boelter's writing, she held a town hall Monday in a high school auditorium in Dexter, Michigan. 'We cannot let terror terrorize us," she told the audience, who cheered. Dingell, who represents the Ann Arbor area, said that some people had wanted her to cancel the event. After the town hall, she reflected on her habit of going out in public without her staff because she always wants people to be able to talk with her. After the shooting, law enforcement officers have told her to be more careful. 'We can't let elected officials be cut off," she said. "We can't let elected officials become afraid.' 'Look, I'm going to keep fighting for the people that I represent. I'm going to keep being a voice for those that want me to make sure their voice is heard at the table," she added. Minnesota state Sen. Ann Rest Rest, who represents New Hope in Hennepin County, said she was made aware that the suspect had been parked near her home early Saturday. She said in a statement Monday that the 'quick action' of law enforcement officers saved her life. While she was grateful for the suspect's apprehension, she noted in the statement that she was grieving the loss of the Hortmans and praying for the Hoffmans' recovery. U.S. Rep. Hillary Scholten, Michigan Scholten, who represents Grand Rapids, said she was postponing a Monday town hall after learning she was a potential target. 'Out of an abundance of caution and to not divert additional law enforcement resources away from protecting the broader public at this time, this is the responsible choice,' Scholten said in a statement. U.S. Rep. Marcy Kaptur, Ohio Kaptur's office said in a statement that her name was included in Boelter's writing but that it will not get in the way of her work 'to make life better for families across Northwest Ohio.' 'Uplifting those who she has the honor to serve has been her sole focus every single day she has served and nothing will deter her from doing so now,' the statement said. Minnesota state Rep. Alex Falconer Falconer, whose district includes a portion of the Twin Cities, said he woke up Saturday morning while on vacation with his wife and kids to a flurry of text messages about the shootings. The police chief then called to warn him about a list of targets. Falconer said he later learned he wasn't on the list, but his family decided to stay away until the suspect was in custody. The police chief increased patrols in his neighborhood and stationed a police car outside of his house, he said. While the question of whether to stay in politics was top of mind for him this weekend, Falconer said, 'They win if we quit.' Falconer and his Democratic colleagues in the state House gathered at the Capitol on Monday to seek comfort in one another and share stories of Hortman, Falconer said. It was the first time they could meet since the shooting because they had been told by law enforcement to not leave their homes while the suspect remained at-large, he said. ___

Colombia presidential hopeful Miguel Uribe in ‘critical' condition after emergency surgery

Colombian senator and presidential hopeful Miguel Uribe, who has been hospitalised since he was shot in the head during a campaign event, is out of an emergency surgery performed but is in 'extremely critical' condition, the Santa Fe Foundation hospital said. Uribe, 39, a potential presidential candidate from the right-wing opposition, was shot in Bogotá on 7 June during a rally. 'Patient Miguel Uribe Turbay is out of surgery and his condition is extremely critical, characterized by a persistent cerebral edema and difficult to control inter-cerebral bleeding,' the hospital said in a statement on Monday, adding that his condition is of 'maximum seriousness.' The more than six-hour surgery was Uribe's third since he was shot. He was rushed into emergency surgery for bleeding in his brain on Monday morning, the hospital said, after undergoing another surgical procedure. 'I've come out to again ask all Colombians, appealing to their good hearts, to the love they feel for Miguel, for my family and for Colombia, for us to hold a mass prayer. Today is crucial,' his wife, Maria Claudia Tarazona, told journalists outside the hospital. The shooting, which was caught on video, recalled a streak of candidate assassinations in Colombia in the 1980s and 1990s, a time when fighting between armed guerrillas, paramilitary groups, drug traffickers and state security forces touched the lives of many Colombians. Marches were held on Sunday around the country to call for peace, and several vigils for Uribe's health have taken place. Three suspects, including a 15-year-old alleged to be the shooter, are in custody. An adult man and woman are also being held. The man, Carlos Eduardo Mora, has been charged for alleged involvement in planning the attack, providing the gun and being in the vehicle where the shooter changed his clothes after the attack, according to the attorney general's office. Though the government had floated a connection between them and the shooting, the main dissident faction of the former Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia guerrilla group on Friday denied responsibility for the assassination attempt on Uribe, though it did accept responsibility for a series of unrelated bombings. Campaigning for the 2026 election is just beginning for potential candidates who want to succeed leftist president Gustavo Petro, who has vowed to advance peace efforts through negotiations and surrender deals with little success. Uribe, a married father of one, is a senator for the right-wing Democratic Center party and announced his intention to run in the May 2026 presidential election last October. Senator Uribe comes from a prominent political family. His grandfather Julio Cesar Turbay was president from 1978 to 1982, and his mother, journalist Diana Turbay, was killed in 1991 in a botched rescue attempt after being kidnapped by an armed group led by drug lord Pablo Escobar.

Boca Juniors vs Benfica descends into chaos at Club World Cup as three players are sent off in fiery game

The Club World Cup openers for legendary clubs Boca Juniors and Benfica saw the teams draw 2-2 in a heated match that produced three red cards, including one given to a player on the bench. Boca Juniors is one of the most storied clubs from Argentina, while Benfica is one of Portugal's best teams every year. Many players on either side were familiar with each other, including Argentine legends Angel Di Maria and Nicolas Otamendi, who both scored against Boca Juniors. The hysterics started right before halftime, not on the field, but just off of it, when former Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain star Ander Herrera tried to shove his way through security to talk to the head match official while he was in the middle of a VAR review. Herrera was stopped and was shown a red card from head referee Cesar Arturo Ramos when he was relayed the events that occurred around him. Herrera had already been subbed off in the 20th minute with an injury, but looked more than at full health to try and talk with the referee. The teams were even again at 10 men after a red card was showed to Benfica's Andrea Belotti connected with a high boot to the back of the head of a Boca Juniors player. Ramos originally gave Belotti a yellow card on the play but was called over to review the play via VAR. After a few moments inside the booth, Ramos replaced his initial caution with a sending off. The final red card of the game came out in the 88th minute to Boca's Jorge Figal, who was late and reckless with a challenge near the touch line, right in front of a group of Benfica players warming up. One of the sideline officials immediately stepped between the group of Benfica players and Figal, with Ramos' straight red quickly displayed. The goals from Di Maria and Otamendi brought Benfica level, after they trailed 2-0 after the 27th minute. Benfica and Boca Juniors are in Group C with Bayern Munich and Auckland City. On Sunday, the German giants defeated the upstart New Zealand side 10-0.
