Hours after fiery exchange with Elon Musk, Donald Trump softens tone: 'Oh, it's okay'
Hours after a fiery public exchange between US President Donald Trump and Tesla CEO Elon Musk, signs of a truce between the two of the world's most powerful men are emerging. According to POLITICO, White House aides have scheduled a call on Friday with the billionaire Tesla CEO to broker a peace. They are also attempting to convince the president to soften his public criticism of Musk to prevent any further escalation. When asked about the public exchange with one of his strongest backers, Trump told POLITICO, "Oh, it's okay.' The exchange between Trump and Musk began after the US President, in a televised Oval Office, said that he was "very disappointed" after his former aide and top donor criticised his "big, beautiful" spending bill before Congress. Musk also, without proof, claimed that Trump was mentioned in government documents on disgraced financier and sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. On the other hand, Trump suggested Musk's multibillion-dollar government contracts, including for launching rockets and for the use of the Starlink satellite service, should be terminated to save money for the federal government. "The easiest way to save money in our Budget, Billions and Billions of Dollars, is to terminate Elon's Governmental Subsidies and Contracts," Trump said on Truth Social. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told AFP that Musk's Epstein tweet "is an unfortunate episode from Elon, who is unhappy with the 'One Big Beautiful Bill' because it does not include the policies he wanted."

'RCB fans are indebted': Tejasvi Surya's sarcastic salvo at Siddaramaiah, Shivakumar after Bengaluru stampede; Virat Kohli gets a mention
NEW DELHI: Bharatiya Janata Party MP Tejasvi Surya on Friday took a dig at the Congress-led Karnataka government over the Bengaluru stampede, which claimed the lives of 11 people. Surya mockingly credited chief minister Siddaramaiah and deputy CM DK Shivakumar for Royal Challengers Bengaluru's long-awaited IPL trophy, while reacting to the chaos and political drama following victory celebrations and stampede. 'We, RCB fans, are indebted to CM Siddaramaiah and DCM DK Shivakumar for winning us the IPL after 18 years. They displayed incredible cricketing and leadership skills on the field and brought our club this long elusive glory,' Tejasvi wrote on X. The tweet, dripping with sarcasm, further said: "We are also very upset about Virat Kohli, other players and the RCB Management for poor arrangement of the security measures at the program organised to honour CM & DK and their families for winning us the trophy.' 'Good that RCB Management is arrested and police commissioner is suspended. They are primarily responsible for security in Bengaluru,' Tejasvi wrote. Ending his post with another sharp punchline, the BJP MP said: 'Anyways, CM and DKS can now go back to Chinnaswamy Stadium to start practising for their next IPL season.' ‘Museum visits, no diplomacy': Congress mocks govt's post-Sindoor delegations
NEW DELHI: The Congress on Friday claimed that the "biggest failure" of the government's foreign policy was its inability to arrange meetings of its delegations sent abroad with heads of states or influential people and asked what the country got out of the exercise. The opposition party alleged that India is being "insulted" all over the world due to the "failed foreign policy" of the Modi government. Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate said Canada did not invite India for the G-7 meeting, US President Donald Trump is constantly taking credit for the "ceasefire" between India and Pakistan, India has become isolated and "our all-weather friends are distancing themselves from us". The party's social media department head also claimed that big countries are being seen in India's enemy's camp and Pakistan which "we had completely sidelined is roaming around like a hero today". "It is getting the opportunity to be represented in global institutions, global institutions are giving it financial aid. Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not even glance towards Kashmir in the last 45 days, but today he has reached Kashmir to cut the ribbon," Shrinate said at a press conference at the Indira Gandhi Bhawan here. In such a situation, many questions arise in the mind of the whole country, she said. "After being in power for more than 11 years and visiting more than 90 countries, we have gained nothing due to the failed foreign policy of Narendra Modi," she alleged.
