IIM, MACC to forge strategic partnership to coordinate anti-corruption initiatives
MACC deputy chief commissioner (Prevention) Datuk Azmi Kamaruzaman said in a statement that this was conveyed by IIM chief executive officer Rahman Mohd Din during a courtesy call at the MACC headquarters here today.
He said IIM played a key role in strengthening a culture of integrity and good governance in both the public and private sectors.
"MACC welcomes IIM's intention to establish a strategic partnership to coordinate anti-corruption activities between the two agencies, avoid duplication, strengthen joint strategies and facilitate information sharing in formulating various anti-corruption agendas," he said.
Azmi said the courtesy call also reflected the commitment of both MACC and IIM in developing the National Integrity Cultivation Strategy (NIES) to replace the National Integrity Plan (PIN).
Meanwhile, Rahman, in the same statement, expressed appreciation for MACC's commitment and said IIM always welcomed collaboration and was open to sharing information and views with the commission.

MACC helps government prevent future leakages

KOTA KINABALU (Aug 6): The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is not only tasked with fighting corruption but also plays a vital role in helping the government prevent future leakages, said MACC Deputy Chief Commissioner (Operations), Datuk Sri Ahmad Khusairi Yahaya. He said the Sabah State Government's efforts to curb leakages, for example, will bring wide-ranging impacts if done systematically. 'The direction in this state is not only to prevent corruption, but we must also think about how to help the State Government curb leakages so that the impact is long-lasting,' he said. Ahmad Khusairi said this after witnessing the handing over of duties for the Sabah MACC director post from outgoing director Datuk Karunanithy Y. Subbiah to Datuk Mohd Fuad Bee Basrah at the Sabah Federal Government Administrative Complex here on Wednesday. Mohd Fuad, who previously served as Penang MACC director, will officially take over as Sabah MACC director on August 15. Karunanithy has been appointed as the new Penang MACC director. Ahmad Khusairi praised Karunanithy's contributions, saying he played a pivotal role in strengthening public trust in MACC and successfully led several major operations during his tenure in Sabah. 'He has shown extraordinary commitment, firm and strategic leadership, and managed to overcome various major challenges throughout his service here,' he added. He also expressed confidence that the appointment of Mohd Fuad, a Sabahan, would further strengthen the commission's anti-corruption agenda in the state. In his farewell speech, Karunanithy said the success of the Sabah MACC during his tenure was due to strategic collaboration with federal and state departments, as well as media partners. 'I would like to express my appreciation and gratitude to the Sabah State Government, especially Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor and State Secretary Datuk Seri Panglima Sr. Haji Safar Untong for supporting all initiatives — whether in operations, prevention, or governance reforms — proposed during my tenure,' he said. Karunanithy, who served as Sabah MACC director for five years and 11 months since September 17, 2019, urged MACC staff to continue upholding a work culture rooted in integrity and professionalism. Also present at the event were Sabah Federal Secretary Datuk Seri Haji Rosli Isa, Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun, and Kota Kinabalu City Hall Mayor Datuk Seri Dr Haji Sabin Samitah.

MACC to help Sabah govt stop leakages in public funds, resources
KOTA KINABALU: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) will assist the government in curbing public fund and resources leakages in the long term. MACC Deputy Chief Commissioner (Operations) Datuk Seri Ahmad Khusairi Yahaya said efforts to curb leakages implemented by the Sabah state government, for example, would have various impacts on all parties. "The direction in this state is not only to prevent corruption but also to think about how to help the state government curb leakages so that the impact of these efforts can be sustained," he said. Khusairi was speaking at the handing over of duties ceremony for the Sabah MACC director's post. At the ceremony, Penang MACC director Datuk Mohd Fuad Bee Basrah was appointed the new Sabah MACC director, effective Aug 15, replacing Datuk S. Karunanithy, who in turn will replace Fuad. Khusairi said Karunanithy had not only played an important role in building public confidence in MACC but also successfully led several major operations, proving Sabah MACC's commitment in combating corruption and abuse of power. "He has shown extraordinary commitment, firm and strategic leadership, and successfully faced various major challenges throughout his tenure at Sabah MACC," he said. As for Fuad, a Sabahan, he is expected to continue advancing the anti-corruption agenda more aggressively and strategically. Meanwhile, in his speech, Karunanithy said the success of Sabah MACC in the operational and prevention sectors during his tenure was the result of strategic cooperation between all parties, including federal and state departments as well as media partners. "I would also like to express my appreciation and thanks to the Sabah government, especially Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor and State Secretary Datuk Seri Safar Untong, for always welcoming all initiatives and proposals, whether in operations, prevention, or governance improvements, that were put forward during my tenure. "I have led Sabah MACC for five years and 11 months, beginning on Sept 17, 2019, until receiving a new mandate as Penang MACC director, and will report for duty on Aug 15. "I urge Sabah MACC personnel to always cooperate and maintain a work culture of integrity and professionalism," he said. Also present were Sabah Federal Secretary Datuk Seri Rosli Isa; Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun; and Kota Kinabalu Mayor Datuk Seri Dr Sabin Samitah.
