Meet actor who comes from a rich family, debuted at 3, and is set to romance Deepika Padukone in a Rs 800 crore film

Meet the actor who has defined box office trends with his last film, which redefined pan-Indian cinema. Despite hailing from an established film family, this superstar has worked his own way to stardom and has delivered some of the most iconic hits, which remain classic even today.
Can you guess who we are speaking about? Yes, it's Allu Arjun.
All about Allu Arjun
Born in 1982, Allu Arjun is the son of notable film producer Allu Aravind and his wife Nirmala. He hails from an established film family and, by extended relations, is part of the Mega family of Tollywood.
He is the second among his two other siblings. Allu Arjun's elder brother, Venkatesh, is a businessman, while his younger brother, Allu Sirish, has also paved the way in films as an actor.
AA completed schooling in Chennai and went ahead to pursue an MBA in Hyderabad. The actor had always wanted to pursue animation as a profession and even took a course in that field. However, he later focused more on the performing arts and ended up in cinema.
From debut as a child artist to rising stardom
Allu Arjun was only 3 years old when he made his debut in acting as a child artist. He also made some more appearances on-camera as a child in films like Vijetha and Daddy.
It was 2003 when he finally made his adult debut in the movie Gangotri, where he was chosen as the lead. Allu Arjun finally made his breakthrough with Sukumar's film Arya, which not only won him awards but also was a commercial and critical success.
From 2007 onwards, he went on to bag different film offers, which turned out to be a phase of experimentation for him. While films like Desamuduru, Arya 2, Vedam, and others were tremendous successes, other projects, such as Varudu and Badrinath, failed to hit the mark.
Allu Arjun shot to success with Yevadu, Race Gurram
This period of mixed responses in his career was followed by Allu Arjun delivering epic blockbusters consecutively, whether with a cameo in Yevadu or a solid entertainer like Race Gurram.
Films like S/O Satyamurthy, Rudhramadevi, Sarrainodu, Ala Vaikunthapuramaloo, and more were again hits at the box office for the actor. In all, the actor has delivered a total of about seven Rs. 100 crore grossers at the box office to date.
Rise to critical and pan-Indian fame with Pushpa franchise
The turning point in his career came with the onset of the Pushpa franchise. Directed by Sukumar, the first installment in 2021 and its sequel in 2024 set a massive new benchmark in Indian cinema, with each film becoming a cult favorite in absolutely no time.
In terms of box office numbers, both of them broke records and became the highest-grossing films of the year.
Coming to his personal life, the actor tied the knot with Sneha Reddy in 2011. The two are blessed with a son named Ayaan and a daughter named Arha. The actor often shares glimpses with his family on social media, which leaves fans thrilled beyond measure.
AA comes from a set film background. His father, Allu Aravind, is a famous producer in the industry and his uncle, Chiranjeevi, is one of the top Tollywood actors
Allu Arjun's upcoming work front
Coming to his work front, Allu Arjun has been in the news lately as he collaborates with Atlee on a massive pan-India project ahead. Titled AA22, the movie is based on a whopping budget of Rs. 800 crore and will feature him in a never-before-seen avatar.
Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone has been announced to be a part of this project as one of the leading ladies.
He also has an upcoming film Ravanam in the pipeline, which will be directed by Prashanth Neel.

Box Office: Coolie and War 2 ensure a bumper opening weekend in India; Rajinikanth, Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR contribute Rs 430 crore in 4 days

Coolie and War 2 are the two latest releases of Indian cinema. While the Rajinikanth starrer is performing well, the latter is struggling to gain the much-needed traction. Since both movies were released on Thursday, they enjoyed a 4-day extended opening weekend. However, exhibitors are happy as both Independence Day releases have brought audiences back to the cinemas. Coolie and War 2 collectively rakes in Rs 430 crore during the Independence Day weekend Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Coolie opened with Rs 75.50 crore. It further raked in Rs 63.50 crore on Day 2 and Rs 47.50 crore on Day 3. As per estimates, the movie stormed over Rs 44 crore on its Day 4, bringing the opening weekend cume to Rs 230 crore gross at the Indian box office. While on the other hand, War 2 kickstarted its box office run with Rs 59 crore on its opening day. It further collected Rs 67 crore on the Independence Day followed by Rs 38 crore on the third day. Estimates suggest the movie added another Rs 35 crore to the tally on its fourth day, bringing the opening weekend total to Rs 200 crore gross in India. Collectively, both Coolie and War 2 sums up Rs 430 crore gross at the domestic box office. Had both movies performed to their full potential, the combined figure would have easily surpassed the Rs 500 crore mark in the first weekend alone. Globally, both movies have clocked over the Rs 600 crore mark in the first four days of their theatrical runs. Coolie performs best down South, War 2 dominates the Northern belt Coolie fared best in its home turf along with Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. In contrast, War 2 dominated the North India belt with a solid margin. Both Independence Day releases are expected to end their theatrical run on a similar figure in India, with Coolie leading the clash. However, the Lokesh Kanagaraj movie will maintain a big margin in the international markets. It will be interesting to see whether both of them collectively can reach the Rs 1000 crore mark globally, as none of them now can achieve the four-digit magical figure alone. Up, close, personal: The life & times of Aditya Prakash

'Aditya Prakash, A Presentation in Free Verse' is an exhibition that showcases, besides his architecture, the artist, writer, academic and architect's foray into art, literature and theatre. Aditya Prakash (1924-2008) belonged to the first generation of Indian modernists who sought to describe the entire cosmos of modern India, including art, architecture, design, planning and theatre. Prakash joined the Chandigarh Capital Project Team in 1952. This city, which he helped birth, was his lifelong love, where he lived and died. Painting was a perpetual practice for Prakash; he spent two to three hours every morning in his atelier, meditating on the expressions of a modern life not just for India, but more spiritually and sensually for the world. Bringing together a selection of Prakash's works in dialogue with his furniture, photography, sculpture and urban plans, this exhibit, in free verse, explores the mechanics by which forms, ideas and ethics of 'Chandigarh Modernism' were exchanged, critiqued and transformed by one of its most devoted exponents. The event commemorates the death anniversary (August 12) of Prakash, who was a Renaissance man in the true sense. The curators, Eashan Chaufla and Deepika Gandhi, both had their leaning towards the works of Prakash, which ultimately led to this event about his life and oeuvre and the exhibition based on them. Eashan is, in a sense, living with the legacy of Prakash every day, having set up his studio in the very house which Prakash designed for himself and where he produced most of his work. He worked closely on the book, 'One Continuous Line' by Vikramaditya Prakash, discovering more about the multifaceted creative personality of Aditya Prakash. Deepika Gandhi, being an alumnus and then a faculty member of Chandigarh College of Architecture, has spent close to 30 years in a building designed by Prakash. She was drawn more to the artwork of Prakash, which she felt was never given due credit, and the fact that he was most prolific post-retirement. Chief Architect Sumit Kaur says that Prakash had an immense impact on her education as a student and later as an architect. She maintains that he was a mentor to hundreds of students, inspiring them with examples to go deeper into research and development of all the creative faculties of the students. Architect Kapil Setia, reflecting on this showcase, talks about the impact that the frame control devised by Prakash has had on the orderly development of the city. He also emphasises the need to preserve the iconic buildings that defined the Chandigarh style through creative adaptive reuse. Highlighting the theatrical ventures of Prakash which were taken up in his late 70s and into his 80s till the time he died, Harleen Kohli recalls that Prakash became a part of the workshops of Gurcharan Channi that ultimately lead to the famous play, 'Zindagi retire nahi hoti', and the humility and child-like abandon with which Prakash immersed himself in the workshop and also contributed his lines to the play. 'He passed away while travelling with the theatre group in a train at Ratlam at the age of 84,' says Kohli. The exhibition and presentation give the viewers a new insight into the work of Prakash and display is a fine mix of carefully curated and painfully collected original paintings, drawings and photographs of his work, furniture and his books and his iron sculptures. The exhibition is on view till August 23 at Punjab Kala Bhawan, Sector 16, Chandigarh.
