NCP MLA Rohit Pawar accused Maharashtra Minister Manikrao Kokate of playing a mobile game during an assembly session, neglecting agricultural issues and farmers' suicides.
Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar faction) MLA Rohit Pawar on Sunday posted a video on social media platform X, alleging that Maharashtra Agriculture Minister Manikrao Kokate was playing a mobile game during an ongoing assembly session.
In the video, Agriculture Minister Kokate can be seen engaged with his phone while seated in the House. Rohit Pawar claimed that the state minister was playing a game called 'Rummy' at a time when serious discussions concerning farmers and agriculture were underway.
Calling Kokate 'misguided", MLA Rohit Pawar hit out at the minister for playing game amid ongoing session and not paying attention to crucial matters, including farmers' suicide and 'countless agricultural issues" in the state.
'Since the Nationalist faction in power cannot do anything without consulting the BJP, even with countless agricultural issues pending and 8 farmers committing suicide daily in the state, the Agriculture Minister, with nothing else to do, seems to have time to play rummy," he tweeted in Marathi.
Further, the MLA suggested Kokate to visit the the fields of poor farmers.
'Will these misguided ministers and the government ever hear the desperate plea of farmers demanding crop insurance, loan waivers, and price support: 'Come to the fields of poor farmers sometimes, Maharaj'?," he further wrote.
As of now, Minister Kokate has not responded publicly to the allegations.

Closely monitoring situation: India on Thailand-Cambodia clashes

New Delhi, Jul 26 (PTI) As military clashes between Thailand and Cambodia continued, India on Saturday said it is closely monitoring the unfolding situation and hoped for cessation of hostilities. At least 32 people have been killed and nearly 1,50,000 displaced in the border clashes between the two Southeast Asian countries that erupted on Thursday. In its reaction to the conflict, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) advised Indian travellers in the region to contact the respective embassies in the two countries for any assistance. 'We are closely monitoring the situation along the border between Cambodia and Thailand," MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said. 'India has close and friendly relations with both countries and hopes that both sides will take measures for a cessation of hostilities and prevention of further escalation," he said. The Indian embassies in Thailand and Cambodia have already issued separate advisories for Indian travellers. The Indian mission in the Thai capital urged all Indian travellers to check updates from authorities in the country before visiting tourist attractions in troubled areas. The Indian embassy in Phnom Penh also advised Indian citizens in Cambodia to avoid travelling to border areas. 'In view of the ongoing clashes at the Cambodia-Thailand border, Indian nationals are advised to avoid travelling to the border areas," it said in a post on social media. India will not allow evergreening of patents: Goyal

New Delhi, Jul 26 (PTI) Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Saturday said India will not allow 'evergreening" of patents. He said that India has a robust intellectual property rights (IPR) chapter in both the free trade agreements with the UK and the four-nation block EFTA. 'We will not allow any ever greening", and despite that 'we still have a robust IPR chapter with two of the toughest countries of the world in IPR – Switzerland and the UK", he told reporters here. Section 3(d) of the Indian Patents Act, 1970, restricts patents for already-known drugs unless the new claims are superior in terms of efficacy, while Section 3(b) bars patents for products that are against public interest and do not demonstrate enhanced efficacy over existing products. Certain multinational firms have asked India to amend these laws, which were strongly opposed. Ever-greening of patent rights is a strategy allegedly adopted by the innovators having patent rights over products to renew them by bringing in some minor changes, such as adding new mixtures or formulations. It is done when their patent is about to expire. A patent on the new form would have given the innovator company a 20-year monopoly on the drug. Talking about collaboration in the critical minerals sector with the UK, he said India and the UK both have concerns and common interests in this area after the ban imposed by (China) on rare earth permanent magnets. 'The whole world has woken up to the reality that concentration of certain geographies in their supply chains can be harmful, and can suffer consequences in case of any unilateral action. Therefore, India and the UK are now looking to work together both for collaborating on the processing and refining of minerals and making finished products together," he said. 'Reminds Me Of India-Pakistan': Trump Claims He's Mediating Between Cambodia And Thailand

Trump's remarks came as Thailand and Cambodia continued their fighting for the third straight day, with the death toll rising to 33 on Saturday. US President Donald Trump announced that negotiating with Thailand and Cambodia to halt one of the worst fighting between the two countries in decades, and compared it to the brief conflict between India and Pakistan in May. 'Just spoke to the Prime Minister of Cambodia relative to stopping the War with Thailand. I am calling the Acting Prime Minister of Thailand, right now, to likewise request a Ceasefire, and END to the War, which is currently raging. We happen to be, by coincidence, currently dealing on Trade with both Countries, but do not want to make any Deal, with either Country, if they are fighting — And I have told them so!" he said on his Truth Social platform. 'The call with Cambodia has ended, but expect to call back regarding War stoppage and Ceasefire based on what Thailand has to say. I am trying to simplify a complex situation! Many people are being killed in this War, but it very much reminds me of the Conflict between Pakistan and India, which was brought to a successful halt," he added. Trump's remarks came after Thailand and Cambodia pounded each other with heavy artillery fire for a third day, killing at least 33 people on both sides and forcing over 1.3 lakh people to flee from border areas. Both blamed each other for starting a morning clash at a disputed area of the border on Thursday, which quickly escalated from small arms fire to heavy shelling in at least six locations. Notably, the dispute between Thailand and Cambodia flared in May after armed forces of both countries briefly fired at each other in a relatively small, contested border area that each country claims as its own. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
