Paul, 28, won nine out of ten rounds in the bout at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
The YouTuber-turned-boxer was only bettered in the ninth round as Chavez Jr staged a late resurgence.
However, the Mexican left himself with far too much to do, having been on the back foot for much of the fight.
Paul landed more than double the number of punches that Chavez Jr managed.

He landed 140 of his 482 thrown throughout the ten rounds, while his rival only connected with 61.
Chavez Jr only threw 154 punches throughout the entire fight and bizarrely only attempted four in the first round.
He did not land a single one of these as he finished the third round with only 14 punches thrown and three landing.
The one positive for Chavez Jr was that his accuracy was far superior to that of Paul.

Boxing icon Butterbean sends fight offer to Jake Paul after shedding over 200lbs

Butterbean has sent a direct message to Jake Paul, telling the YouTube star that he is "coming for him" following his unanimous decision victory over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr Butterbean has threatened to come out of retirement as he issued a bold challenge to Jake Paul, following his body transformation. The ex-boxer, whose real name is Eric Esch, hasn't fought since his 2013 defeat to Kirk Lawton. However, the 58-year-old insists he is ready to return, but for one fight only. In an Instagram video promoting Lucky Energy, the former heavyweight champion claims that Paul "runs his damn mouth too much" and mocks him for only being able to fight "retired bald men" - which is a likely dig at his controversial win over Mike Tyson. ‌ The video showcases Butterbean's collaboration with the energy drink company and his 'Knockout Punch' flavour. In the skit, a Paul lookalike responds to the challenge before getting hit by a wheelchair, thrown by Butterbean's fake promoter, Mr Lucky. ‌ This new callout comes after Problem Child's recent improvement to a 12-1 record, following a unanimous decision victory over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr on Saturday night. Although Paul made several callouts post-fight, he did not respond to a match with Butterbean. Despite the likely comedic intent behind Butterbean's challenge as part of an advert, it isn't the first time the ex-boxer has tried to square off with Paul in the ring. Before the highly anticipated bout between Tyson and Paul in November 2024, Butterbean revealed he was prepared to step into the ring with the 28-year-old if necessary. In a TikTok video posted just before the fight, the former heavyweight champ said: "Mike Tyson and Jake Paul, I am going to be at the fight to challenge the winner of the fight, Yeah. Mike, if you fall out again, I'll be there to take your place." ‌ Butterbean first expressed his desire to take on the Problem Child back in March 2022 when Paul had an undefeated record of 5-0, having beaten the likes of Tyron Woodley, Ben Askren, and Nate Robinson. Discussing his impressive weight loss and return to training after retirement, Butterbean said: "I'm working with DDP (Diamond Dallas Page) to get up walking and running around again and I'm feeling the best shape I ever have. ‌ "I'm at fight weight. You'll have to listen to my podcast coming up to find exactly how much weight I have lost, but I haven't weighed this in over 20 years so that'll give you an idea. "The big announcement is I'm gonna fight one last fight. It's gonna be one year from now. Jake Paul, if you're ready, I'm here for you my friend. Let's get it on, me and you Jake Paul. I bet it would be an awesome fight. After you said what you said about me in the magazine, I'm ready to fight you. Are you ready? I don't think so." There have been many more callouts since then, but the duo have not yet met to discuss the terms of what could be a sensational showdown in the sport. However, Butterbean's recent jibe at the young fighter might just be the catalyst needed to bring them together in the ring for possibly the most unusual fight to date.

Jake Paul's official purse for Julio Cesar Chavez Jr fight leaves fans baffled

The 'Problem Child' scored a decisive unanimous decision victory on Saturday night in his first fight since defeating Mike Tyson back in November Fans have been left surprised after Jake Paul's disclosed purse for his clash with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr was revealed. The 'Problem Child' earned $300,000 for his headlining fight against Chavez Jr - who took home $750,000, according to to the California State Athletic Commission. The full list of disclosed salaries from CSAC executive director Andy Foster was obtained by MMA Junkie. Paul extended his boxing record to 12-1 after scoring a dominant unanimous decision victory over the former middleweight champion. ‌ The YouTuber-turned-boxer never looked in any real danger until the final two rounds of the cruiserweight dust-up after Chavez Jr began to unload. ‌ Immediately after the fight, fans were left stunned by the official fight salaries. "Ain't that a little too low for Jake Paul?" One fan wrote, while another added: "Wait Jake ain't making the most on his card?" A third user commented: "Jake Paul is getting paid less than Chavez Jr? No way!!" Of all the 22 fighters to compete on the event co-promoted by MVP and Oscar De La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions, eight earned a disclosed six figures, with Gilberto Ramirez topping the list at $1.5 million following his win over Yuniel Dorticos - who pocketed $300,000. While fans may be surprised by Paul's earnings, it is worth noting that the numbers reflect payouts disclosed to the California commission and do not include pay-per-view cuts, gate cuts and discretionary bonuses that may have been paid by the promotions. Seeing as he topped the bill, Paul will likely earn millions from the pay-per-view sales. Immediately after the win on Saturday night, Paul revealed he wants a rematch with Tommy Fury before taking on Anthony Joshua next year - but the YouTuber could face Gervonta Davis next. The social media star called out five fighters in his post-fight interview, including cruiserweight world champions Gilberto Ramirez and Badou Jack. "I want tougher fighters. I want to be world champion. Zurdo looked slow as s*** tonight. That'd be easy work, too," said Paul. 'Badou Jack. I want everybody. Anthony Joshua, Gervonta. And Tommy, stop running. I'm hustling, getting warmed up. You've already seen my face, get used to seeing it more." Asked when he wants to return, he added: "As soon as possible. I'm staying active, I'm fighting everybody." Paul's partner Nakisa Bidarian later confirmed Paul will target a rematch with Fury having lost to the Brit in 2023. "If it's not for the title, then it's looking at Tommy, if he's reasonable, then Anthony Joshua. He's adamant he wants to make that fight happen at the end of 2026 and we're going to meet with Matchroom when we're in New York for the greatest trilogy in the history of boxing, Amanda Serrano vs Katie Taylor 3." But according to Eddie Hearn, Paul has already agreed an exhibition bout with lightweight world champion Davis, assuming he comes through his rematch with Lamont Roach. Asked about a potential fight between Paul and Joshua, Hearn said: "We know that Gervonta [Davis] is going to fight Jake Paul in November. Then, we'll see what happens. It'll be interesting to go from Gervonta Davis to Anthony Joshua."
