ED conducts multi-city searches against former Punjab and Sind Bank officer in money laundering case
New Delhi [India], May 31 (ANI): The Directorate of Enforcement (ED) has conducted search operations at seven locations in Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru in connection with an alleged money laundering case against former Punjab and Sind Bank officer Bedanshu Sekhar Mishra and his associates and key management persons of gaming platform GOA247.LIVE.
Mishra, posted at the bank's branch in Delhi University's north campus, was suspended in November 2022 after the alleged fraud came to light.
During the search operations, cash amount of Rs 39 Lakh along with various incriminating material including digital evidences, multiple mobile phones and Sim cards being used for online gaming, etc. were recovered and seized, the ED in a 'X' post on Saturday.
Further, during the search proceedings, ED has frozen total amount of Rs 1.5 Crore in 48 mule accounts being used by the gaming platform. the post further said.
'ED, Delhi Zonal Office has conducted search operations on 29.05.2025 at 7 locations at Delhi, Mumbai and Bengalore in an ongoing investigation under the provisions of PMLA, 2002 against Bedanshu Sekhar Mishra, the then officer in the Punjab & Sind Bank, his associates and key management persons of gaming platform44 http://GOA247.LIVE,' it said.

The ED case, filed under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), stems from a CBI FIR. It is alleged that the fraud took place in 2021-22.
ED investigation revealed that the main accused, Mishra, while being posted as the officer during 2021 and 2022, in the branch office of Punjab and Sind Bank at Khalsa College in Delhi University's north campus has reportedly misused his official position and carried out fraudulent transactions by using system ID's of himself and other staff members unauthorizedly to break the fixed deposits (FDs) of several customers, including SGTB Khalsa College of Delhi University, without their knowledge.
He committed fraud and forgery with the bank as well as with those account holders of the bank, and misappropriated and siphoned public money to the tune of Rs 52,99,53,698, the ED had said.
After the detection of the fraud, the accused, Mishra, was suspended by the bank.
The ED investigation also revealed that Mishra has used the proceeds of crime for playing online games such as monopoly, poker, teen-patti etc., on different online gaming websites such as Goa247.live, Indibet.com and Betway.
The proceeds of crime (POC) generated out of the aforesaid crime were mainly transferred by him to the online gaming companies by routing through various current accounts of different business entities. (ANI)

Contribute now New Delhi: A minor who was raped had to wait in an ambulance for hours before being admitted to the Patna Medical College and Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries, her family has said. Multiple reports note that the minor, who was 11 years old, belonged to a Dalit community. The accused is a 30-year-old Rohit Kumar Sahni, who was arrested. Sahni raped the child on May 26. Times of India reported that he stabbed her multiple times in the neck, chest and abdomen, and slit her throat. She was initially admitted to the Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital in Muzaffarpur, but on May 31, when her condition deteriorated, doctors there referred her the Patna hospital (PMCH). Congress MP Ranjeet Ranjan told reporters in Delhi that the Muzaffarpur hospital's initial recommendation had been that the minor be transported to AIIMS Patna, but claimed that that did not materialise due to administrative apathy. The girl's uncle was quoted as having said that the emergency department staff at PMCH told the family that there was no space and directed them to other wards. 'We were sent to the paediatric department after being turned away from two-three wards. She was in the ambulance for hours. It was after some politicians intervened that she was finally admitted at around 5 pm on Saturday, and passed away this morning,' Indian Express quoted him as having said. Reports have it that the time which the minor spent in the ambulance was around four to five hours. Congress workers, including its Bihar president Rajesh Ram, went to the hospital while the minor was made to wait. Another report carried another allegation by the uncle – that was asked to pay Rs 2,000 for an oxygen cylinder when the supply ran low during transit. 'Blood was coming out of her nose and mouth on Sunday morning, but no doctor came to see her,' he said, according to TOI. The PMCH administration has denied negligence and claimed that the child was taken to the ENT department and then transferred to the gynaecology department. Congress's Rahul Gandhi, who is leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, wrote on X, 'The brutality against a minor Dalit girl in Muzaffarpur and the subsequent negligence in her treatment is extremely shameful. If she had received timely treatment, her life could have been saved. But the double-engine government was negligent not only in providing security but also in saving her life. We will not sit quietly until the victim's family gets justice. Strict action should be taken against the culprits and negligent officers.' Man convicted in Anna University sexual assault case sentenced to life imprisonment
A Chennai court on Monday sentenced the man convicted of sexually assaulting a student on the campus of Anna University to life imprisonment for a minimum period of 30 years without remission, Live Law reported. The man, Gnanasekaran, has also been directed to pay a fine of Rs 90,000. On May 28, he was found guilty on all 11 charges filed against him and convicted under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita pertaining to rape and sexual harassment, in addition to sections of the Information Technology Act and Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Woman Act. Gnanasekaran is accused of having filmed the student and her partner on the university campus and threatening to leak the footage to the dean and the couple's parents if they did not comply with his demands. The incident occurred on December 23, when Gnanasekaran allegedly took the complainant to a remote location where he first blackmailed her before sexually assaulting her. The first information report filed in the case stated that he had illegally detained the student for 40 minutes. Gnanasekaran, who ran a roadside eatery near the campus, was arrested by the Greater Chennai Police two days after the assault. The police had said that at least seven other cases were pending against him. The case had sparked a controversy after the FIR based on the complaint was leaked online, revealing the identity of the student. Stating that this had caused the student 'trauma and humiliation', the Madras High Court directed the Tamil Nadu government on December 28 to provide Rs 25 lakh in compensation to her. The bench also called it a serious failure on the part of the police. In addition, the High Court had constituted an all-woman Special Investigation Team to probe the case. The High Court had also expressed shock over the language used in the FIR, stating that it amounted to victim-shaming, and directed the Tamil Nadu Police to conduct a departmental inquiry into the leak. However, the Supreme Court in January stayed the High Court order on the inquiry. Advocates Mukul Rohatgi and Siddharth Luthra, representing the Tamil Nadu government, had attributed the leak to a technical glitch.

It has become a practice now to first commit and grave mistake and then wiggle out of it by issuing an apology." Reportedly, several pro-Kannada groups staged protests against Mishra and her husband, demanding strict action against them.
