Brookshire Grocery Co. donates $60K to NWLA emergency responders
BOSSIER CITY, La. (KTAL/KMSS)—A local company has donated tens of thousands of dollars to support the sheriff's, police, and fire departments in Bossier City and Shreveport.
Brookshire Grocery Company awarded the donations at a First Responder Luncheon in Bossier City. Hundreds of officers, firefighters, and emergency response personnel. The luncheon featured hamburgers, hot dogs, and sausage on a stick.
Checks for $10K each were handed out to the Bossier City Police Department, Shreveport Police Department, Bossier Fire Department, Shreveport Fire Department, and Caddo Parish and Bossier Parish Sheriff's Departments.
Brad Brookshire is the chairman and CEO of Brookshire Grocery Company. He said providing lunch for heroes is one way the company can show respect and share an appreciation for what our first responders do.
'We are deeply honored as a company to recognize the hard work and contributions that first responders make to their communities every day and to be able to donate in a meaningful way to their organizations,' said Brookshire.

According to a press release, all full-time Hilton Garden Inn employees will receive a tuition discount on all undergraduate, graduate, certificate, or micro-credential programs taught in-person, online, or through a hybrid format. The standard application fee is also waived. Growth at TAMUT creates new jobs at university New TAMUT students will also receive the First Flight Scholarship, which allows them to take their first class for free if they are enrolled in at least six credit hours, in addition to the tuition discount. ‘Hollywood South' could be established in Louisiana with new legislation
BATON ROUGE, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – Film Louisiana announced Governor Jeff Landry's signing of Senate Bill 232 (SB 232) into law on Monday. Louisiana Public Broadcasting to honor six students across the state as young heroes It includes Act 44, a law that makes Louisiana one of the most competitive states for film production. 'Act 44 modernizes the state's film incentive program by granting Louisiana Economic Development (LED) the authority to manage the program through administrative rules instead of state law. This change provides the flexibility needed to respond quickly to industry shifts, better negotiate with studios, and attract a wider range of film and television projects to the state,' a press release stated. The bill makes large-scale productions and episodic series more attractive in the state by keeping the $125 million annual cap and 2031 sunset date while eliminating per-person and per-project caps. Salute the Badge: A candid conversation with SPD Chief Wayne Smith One of the most significant announcements was the launch of a new economic development website, a one-stop shop designed to facilitate the city's collaboration with entrepreneurs and small business owners. 'When we came into office, we wanted to simplify the process for people to do business in and with the city,' said Mayor Arceneaux. 'You can now find checklists, permit information, and applications online, without needing to visit Government Plaza.' The website is accessible from the city's homepage and includes resources tailored to new and existing business owners.
