Charissa Thompson prepping for Fox ‘shakeup' after two NFL show exits

New York Post3 days ago
Fox Sports host Charissa Thompson said she's looking forward to a 'new beginning' after Peter Schrager and Michael Vick's exits from the network left two vacant seats on the Fox 'NFL Kickoff' show.
Thompson, who reportedly landed a lucrative contract extension with Fox, hosts the show on Sunday mornings throughout the NFL season with a desk of analysts, including retired Patriots wideout Julian Edelman and Pro Football Hall of Famer Charles Woodson.
During a fan Q&A on Tuesday's installment of the 'Calm Down' podcast, Thompson explained that she's excited and curious of how the 'shakeup' will affect the future of the show.

'For Fox, it's a shakeup,' Thompson, 43, said. 'I'm curious because on the Kickoff show … Peter Schrager went to ESPN sadly, which makes me bummed because I love him and Michael Vick went to go coach at Norfolk State, which obviously I'm happy for his opportunity there.
'So, its Jules [Edelman] and I and Charles Woodson. And so, we'll find out a little bit more closer to the football season sort of the structure and the rundown and kind of how we want to frame that show. I think it's a new beginning, so as were hitting our stride at Amazon we're kind of starting back over at Fox, which is also excited because that means that there's new opportunities to do different things on that show.'

Schrager joined ESPN in April after nearly two decades at Fox.
Vick left Fox NFL Sunday to become the head football coach at Norfolk State University in February.

'We are fully in our stride,' she said. '… We are in year four of this bad boy and it feels great we have our same group back and everyone is very comfortable I their designated roles, so I'm excited about that.'

As for Andrews? The veteran sideline reporter, who reportedly landed a generous contract extension this offseason as well, is thrilled to get back on the road with her crew.

'I like that it's not going to be a rebirth for our crew,' Andrews, 47, said. 'It's going to be Tom [Brady's] second year we kind of are already in the swing of things. Nothing is kind of new for us. I'm excited about just getting on the road, seeing the boys … having our funny, silly conversations. Our text chain has been a little quiet lately, I'll probably get that going here tonight.'

Andrews and Thompson did not mention their respective contracts with Fox.
Their prior deals expired after the 2024-25 season, including Super Bowl 2025, which aired on the network.

Front Office Sports reported Monday that Fox is promoting college football sideline reporter Allison Williams to Laura Okmin's NFL sideline reporter role.
Okmin told the outlet last month that she turned down a contract extension with Fox following 23 years with the network.

On Running and Veja Sneakers Are on Secret Sale for Summer—Shop 13 Top Picks Up to 51% Off

July is turning out to be a great month for shoppers, with massive sale events like Amazon Prime Day and the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale dropping jaw-dropping discounts. We thought we had already seen the best deals of the month, so we were surprised to stumble upon a secret Gilt sale that's rivaling the season's biggest events. Right now, the luxury outlet retailer has shocking deals on designer sneakers from On Running and Veja. We found comfortable sneakers perfect for summer travel, including the On Running Cloudmonsters, Veja V-10s, and more from $100. Shop our 13 top picks ahead, up to 51 percent off. One of Veja's most popular sneakers, the V-10 Sneakers are comfy, breathable, and slightly chunky. The bold orange logo of these sneakers spices up an otherwise classic white shoe, bringing playfulness to your everyday wardrobe. Best of all, they're well under $140 today. If your itinerary includes lots of walking, we recommend the On Running Cloudmonsters. Designed for road runners, these shoes have generous cushioning to propel you forward with each step. Plus, they feature a breathable mesh upper to keep your feet comfortable in hot weather, making them ideal for summer travel. It doesn't get more classic than this. These classic white sneakers will look at home in any destination, thanks to their sleek, minimalist appearance. The leather exterior is super easy to clean, so these shoes will stay looking new, trip after trip. Pair them with a summer dress, cut-off shorts, or even work trousers; the possibilities are endless. These On Cloud sneakers are made to train. That means they provide impressive stability, traction, and breathability. In other words, if your travel consists of adventures rather than relaxation, these are the shoes for you. This lifestyle sneaker has a retro silhouette and a nostalgic color scheme to match. We love the combination of butter yellow and peach featured on this sneaker, along with the chunky sole that only adds to the aesthetic. We'd wear these sneakers to the airport, while exploring a new city, and while running errands. If minimalist sneakers are more your style, you'll love this low-profile pair that never goes out of style. The slim design is sophisticated and on-trend, but it also means these sneakers will take up less space in your carry-on. We love the silver detailing that can easily accent almost any travel outfit. I know it's July and I shouldn't be thinking about fall yet, but I can't help but think these sneakers are the perfect transitional shoe for the changing seasons. The combination of rich greens and red calls on the changing colors of autumn leaves, but these shoes aren't just beautiful. They're designed with travel in mind, so they have a cushy and supportive sole, impressive traction, and a breathable upper to provide sufficient airflow. Gilt saved its best discount for these high-top sneakers. At a whopping 51 percent off, these sneakers are now just $100. They feature a simple black-and-white design, plus a butter yellow rubber sole that adds to the retro vibe. A cooler alternative to the classic white sneaker, this timeless pair can be worn with slim-cut jeans, maxi dresses, and even shorts. Veja's Panenka OT Leather Sneakers are my personal favorite. I love the rich black and brown color combination and craftful stitching that creates a quilted appearance. The cushy insole is designed to provide comfortable arch support, so you can take on long travel days with confidence. This tennis-inspired On Running sneaker will add an element of cool to every travel ensemble. They're designed with plenty of cushioning for a comfortable fit, all day long. Plus, the mesh upper is super breathable for those hot summer days. Colorful, low-profile sneakers are one of the year's biggest trends, and we love this vibrant suede option from Veja. With a blue upper and butter yellow accents, these shoes are bound to bring interest to your travel capsule wardrobe. Plus, we appreciate that these sneakers are unique, so you won't spot them on every other traveler at your gate. Bring an element of street style to your travel wardrobe with these '90s-inspired mid-top sneakers. They have a perforated upper to keep your feet cool, plus On Running's signature cushioning that absorbs impact with every step. The result: A perfect travel shoe that's equally stylish and comfortable. Whether you're racing on a track or just to your gate, you'll appreciate this lightweight Cloudflow shoe. It has a forward roll that propels you with each step, plus a lightweight woven upper that keeps things breezy. Bonus: The sunset-esque colorway will spruce up any neutral-toned travel outfit. Early 'Superman' Reviews Turn Heads as Rotten Tomatoes Score Is Revealed

Although Superman doesn't hit theaters in wide release until Friday, July 11, those who bought their tickets through a special Amazon promotion will get to see the movie today, on Tuesday, July 8. And, for movie critics who have already seen the movie, tiny social media reviews have already indicated that this take on Superman just might be a crowd-pleaser. As reported by Variety, a handful of critics have sounded off on social media about their feelings about the new Superman reboot. "Bold yet faithful," wrote Bryan Sudfiel. Meanwhile, critic Brandon Davis said that the romantic chemistry between David Corenswet's Superman and Rachel Brosnahan's Lois Lane "is off the charts" in the movie. And now, the official Rotten Tomatoes score for the 2025 Superman has been revealed. According to Rotten Tomatoes, Superman has a high score of 90 percent right now. Historically, reviews of various Superman movies are all over the place. While 2013's Man of Steel holds a 57 percent score on RT from critics, it has a 75 percent score from general audiences. 2006's Superman Returns is basically the opposite; the critical score is 73 percent, and the audience score is 60. Only when we go further back in time to the 1978 classic, starring Christopher Reeve, does the audience perception and the critical perception of a Superman movie start to align. So yes, the critical score for Superman is a solid 90 percent. But the audience score won't be clear well into the weekend. In short, with this Superman movie, like several Superman movies before it, we should expect there to be some kind of general disagreement about its basic quality. There's a good chance the film will make a ton of money at the box office. Will everyone love it? Josh Allen On Buffalo Bills' Objective Entering 2025: ‘The Goal Is To Win The Super Bowl'

Josh Allen says his goals are always team-oriented and not individual focused. Allen says the ... More objective is to lead the Buffalo Bills to a Super Bowl for the first time. (Photo by) Getty Images Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is on top of the world right now. The 29-year-old quarterback is the cemented face of the Bills, coming off of his first MVP season after willing the Bills to a 13-4 season and another AFC Championship Game appearance. Allen just posted arguably his finest season, throwing 28 touchdowns (with 12 rushing touchdowns) against just six interceptions without a star wide receiver. However, Allen wants to reiterate that he doesn't play for MVP's — he plays for Super Bowls. That remains the objective entering the 2025 season and it's the one thing that eludes him as he enters his eighth season as an established veteran quarterback. "No, I think everything is team oriented," says Allen in a one-on-one interview when asked if he has any individual objectives. "I've never set out to go and try to win an MVP award. To be in the conversation and to win, that means your team's playing very well. They don't give MVP awards to teams that really don't make the playoffs. To be in that position, it means we're having a very good season." With training camp starting July 23 for the Bills, Allen stresses that the goal is always team-oriented and he wants the team to develop prior to the season starting. That's key considering Buffalo has a somewhat young core led by wide receivers Khalil Shakier (25 years old) and Keon Coleman (22 years old). The Bills will need those players, along with a number of others, to continue to develop and grow if they hope to get past their top rivals, the Kansas City Chiefs. Buffalo has lost to Kansas City four times in the playoffs over the past five years. "But again, our No. 1 goal right now is to develop our team in training camp," says Allen. "After that, it's to defend our dirt, win our home games and make it to the playoffs and gives ourselves a chance. That's our only goal right now. Obviously, the main goal is to win the Super Bowl, but you got to knock out these little goals before you get to the big goals." Josh Allen On Bills Appearing On HBO's Hard Knocks: 'Good Opportunity For Guys' Personalities To Be Portrayed' One of the notable things the Bills have going on for them prior to the start of the season is that they'll be on the 2025 edition of HBO's "Hard Knocks," a long-running series that documents a team's training camp. It's the first time Allen and the Bills will be featured on the show, which originally debuted in 2001. Allen says it's a good opportunity for players to be able to show off their personalities, but stresses not wanting the show to become a distraction in the way of the team's objective of winning games and getting ready for the start of the season. "It's a good opportunity for a lot of our guys' personalities to be portrayed and to get new people interested in football and the Buffalo Bills," says Allen. "At the same time, not letting it become that distraction of guys doing too much and trying to rep their own personal brand. But as long as you know we're being authentic to ourselves and being the same person each and every day, there'll be no problem." When asked of the personalities he believes will stand out in this year's "Hard Knocks," he mentions three players — 31-year-old veteran Dion Dawkins and his young receivers, Coleman and Shakir. Allen actually outlines and goes into great detail why Shakir is the "sleeper." The third-year Shakir broke out last season by leading the Bills with 76 catches for 821 yards and four touchdowns. The Bills edition of Hard Knocks will debut on August 5 on HBO Max. "Obviously, Dion Dawkins is going to be up there, Keon Coleman is going to be up there," says Allen. "But I think a sleeper is Khalil Shakir. People are going to see one how hard he works. He's a funny, funny guy. He's very smart, intelligent. A lot of people will get a good insight to see who he is as a is a person. A lot of people got to see him as a player, and how he broke out last year for us. He's an absolute stud. Plays the game the right way. I'm excited for people to see that about him." Josh Allen On Why He's Partnering With Natrol, Says The Sleep Aid Is A Product He Believes In While Allen is obviously preparing for the Bills' upcoming season, one thing that is helping him get ready for the new year is Natrol. Natrol is a drug-free sleep-aid that Allen started using in March, which has been helping him with his sleep patterns. "I know firsthand how important restorative sleep is for success, whether that's on the field, in training, or just showing up and being the best leader that I can be," says Allen. "In this partnership, it's about unlocking the next step in my progression and the potential that follows restorative sleep. Very excited to be partnering with them. It's a product that I fully believe in. " Allen details how he started using the product after coming back from an overseas trip in Italy. The reigning MVP details how he has trouble sleeping on planes and how Natrol helped him sleep through his flight from Italy back to the United States. "I have a tough time sleeping on planes," says Allen. "I took a Natrol sleep and restore with melatonin and slept 10 straight hours on the flight and woke up and there's two hours left. It was obviously very, very exciting for me, and I think that sleep is something that I've been neglecting for a long portion of my life. Getting now to 29 years old -- I know that's doesn't sound super old — but in the NFL I'm starting to get up there, so making sure that I'm getting the right rest so I can perform at my best." The veteran quarterback hammers home how much his "recovery and energy" has improved since using the product. "I've noticed some real improvements in my recovery, energy and overall well-being since using Natrol," says Allen. "I'm excited to share these benefits with my teammates and the fans. A nice sleep starts with Natrol."
