SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – Residents of the Shreveport-Bossier area are invited to apply for a program that will allow them to care for the children of service members stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base. The Family Child Care Provider Program offers opportunities for individuals residing within 30 miles of Barksdale AFB to establish in-home child care facilities, providing service members with access to qualified child care providers. Program enrollees will receive extensive support, financial incentives, and professional development, addressing a critical need for military families: quality, affordable childcare. 'Childcare availability directly affects mission readiness and quality of life of our force,' said Col. Michael Maginness, 2d Bomb Wing commander, 'Reliable, competent, and qualified childcare reduces stress on the Airmen and their family and allows our children to continue to thrive while their parents perform our nation's most critical missions. This is an incredible opportunity for qualified caregivers in the community to earn a paycheck while supporting our nation's number one mission here at Barksdale AFB.' 3-month-old puppy needs forever home

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – If you are looking for a faithful companion to share your summer days with, there's a pup waiting for you. Meet Kylie, she's a 3-month-old Catahoula Leopard Dog-Blackmouth Cur-mix who arrived at Caddo Parish Animal Services on May 12th along with her siblings Kendall and Cane. Kylie has been adapting well since arriving at the shelter, but her personality will truly blossom when she settles into her forever home. 'She's a very calm puppy but when she's given the chance though she does like to run around and play. She loves to sit in your lap and just get attention,' says Kim Freeman, Adoption and Volunteer Coordinator. The adoption fee for each puppy is $50, which covers the cost of a microchip and up-to-date vaccinations. Kylie has already been spayed, microchipped, and vaccinated, so you'll be in and out the door in no time. For more information, visit Caddo Parish Animal Services. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc.
