New Pokémon TCG Pocket Pack Expansion Eevee Grove Explores All 8 Eevee-lutions

Yahoo11-07-2025
It has been a month since the launch of Extradimensional Crisis, which means another new Pokémon TCG Pocket pack is on the way—and Eevee Grove brings everyone's favourite adaptable creature into the spotlight.
It appears Pokémon TCG Pocket has moved away from launching its two-edition pack drops on a monthly basis. As fans approach the one-month mark since the Ultra Beast-themed Extradimensional Crisis single-pack drop, The Pokémon Company continues to strike while the iron is hot, revealing the upcoming Eevee Grove expansion—also a single-pack release. While Extradimensional Crisis felt Alolan-themed (given that Ultra Beasts were introduced in Pokémon Sun & Moon), Eevee Grove aims to explore the ever-popular Normal type and its eight 'Eeveelutions.' The Pokémon TCG Pocket Eevee Grove video trailer, released today, can be seen below.
While it appears the set doesn't focus on any particular region like previous releases, Eevee Grove introduces new ex card variants of Flareon, Sylveon and Eevee to the digital mats of TCG Pocket. In Eevee Grove, players can discover and collect new Pokémon TCG Pocket cards featuring Eevee and its eight evolutions, with illustrations that capture their lively expressions and dynamic personalities. The trailer reveals that some of the evolutions will receive special artwork treatments, such as the full-art Sylveon ex card teased in the video.
In the physical Pokémon TCG, Eevee and its evolutions have made waves in the marketplace, with specific 'chase' cards going for over $1,000 on auction sites like eBay. While TCG Pocket has utilized existing physical Pokémon TCG artwork to bolster the Pocket catalogue before, it remains to be seen if The Pokémon Company goes into their archives to allow digital fans to snag a copy of the elusive 'Moonbreon' card. 'Moonbreon' is a special art illustration rare of the Eevee evolution Umbreon, and it comes from the Sword & Shield Booster Pack, Evolving Skies. The single card hits pricing of well over $1,000 at auction on a regular basis.
The new Pokémon TCG Pocket Pack Expansion Eevee Grove launches on June 26. Fans can find more information on the official TCG website.

Pokémon TCG Pocket will change card art after plagiarism accusations

While you can now start collecting Pokémon TCG Pocket's Johto-themed Wisdom of Sea and Sky expansion, two of the set's rarest cards are being changed in response to concerns about art theft. Soon after dataminers began posting images of Wisdom of Sea and Sky's cards on Tuesday, Chinese artist lanjiujiu took to their X account with questions about Pokémon TCG Pocket using illustrations that seemed to have been traced from their own work. In particular, lanjiujiu pointed to Wisdom of Sea and Sky's immersive Ho-Oh card drawn by Sie Nanahara, a Japanese illustrator who has previously produced a number of art pieces for The Pokémon Company. Pokémon TCG Pocket's original immersive Ho-Oh card bore a number of visual similarities to a piece of art lanjiujiu was commissioned to illustrate in 2021. lanjiujiu did not specify who originally commissioned them, but their art clearly served as the reference for a resin statue sold by PC House Studio, a company that makes unlicensed collectibles. As Polygon notes, The Pokémon Company has made clear that, when fans distribute art featuring any of the company's copyrighted intellectual property, they are agreeing to 'a royalty-free, non-exclusive, irrevocable, transferable, sub-licensable, worldwide license' that gives it the right to 'use, transmit, copy, modify, and display Fan Art (and its derivatives) for any purpose.' Legally speaking, that means TPC would have been in the clear to keep the immersive Ho-Oh as-is. But last night, the company announced that it now plans to update the card as well as Wisdom of Sea and Sky's immersive Lugia, which also featured the Ho-Oh art as part of a short animation. 'We are also conducting a broader investigation to ensure no similar issues exist elsewhere in the game,' TPC said in a statement posted to X. 'To all our players who have been looking forward to this expansion, and to the talented illustrators who bring the Pokémon world to life, we deeply apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. We take this matter very seriously and are committed to strengthening our quality control processes to prevent this from happening again.' The Pokémon TCG Pocket situation is the latest instance of a popular mobile card game getting in hot water for using fan art without contacting the original artist. Earlier this year, Marvel Snap faced similar accusations on two separate occasions — once regarding a pixel variant M'Baku card that resembled an illustration by fan artist Jason Kiantoro, and another involving a card of the Ancient One that borrowed visual elements from Kamen Rider Wizard. In the latter instance, Marvel Snap simply changed a few details rather than releasing an entirely new card. It's not clear when Pokémon TCG Pocket will update Wisdom of Sea and Sky's immersive cards, but if you happen to pull them now, you'll be greeted with a box that says 'new art coming soon.' Pokémon TCG Pocket's latest expansion just dropped, with extra controversy

Pokémon TCG Pocket's latest expansion just dropped, and it brings brand-new cards, even more Pokémon, and a pretty serious slip-up with regard to copyright law. Dubbed Wisdom of Sea and Sky, the expansion offers two different packs to pull from: a Ho-Oh themed pack, and a Lugia-themed pack. The controversy stems from illustrations; after datamining, fans pointed out that the Ho-Oh EX and the Lugia EX card art were seemingly plagiarized. The original artist @lanjiujiu shared a post on X, and it's easy to see the similarities even at a glance. Although this isn't proof that assets were stolen (and Lanjiujiu made a statement asserting that), it was enough to raise eyebrows — and enough for Pokémon TCG Pocket to pull the art in favor of placeholders. The team released a statement addressing the concerns just after midnight this morning. 'After internal review, we discovered that the card production team provided incorrect reference materials as official documents to the illustrator commissioned to create these cards. As a result, both cards have been replaced with a temporary placeholder that the team is actively working to replace with new artwork as soon as it's ready.' We'd like to share an update about the upcoming expansion in #PokemonTCGPocket. — Pokémon TCG Pocket (@PokemonTCGP) July 30, 2025 That said, the situation isn't totally clear. There are indications that the original artwork was a commission from the Pokémon Company, in which case it likely already owns the art. Another consideration is that the legal terms of use stipulate the Pokémon Company potentially has the right to use fan art without notifying the original creator. Recommended Videos The legal statement reads, 'Distribution in any form and any channels now known or in the future of derivative works based on the copyrighted property trademarks, service marks, trade names and other proprietary property (Fan Art) of The Pokémon Company International, Inc., its affiliates and licensors (Pokémon) constitutes a royalty-free, non-exclusive, irrevocable, transferable, sub-licensable, worldwide license from the Fan Art's creator to Pokémon to use, transmit, copy, modify, and display Fan Art (and its derivatives) for any purpose. No further consideration or compensation of any kind will be given for any Fan Art.' In other words, feel free to enjoy the game and its expansions, but be aware that any art you share might one day be used without credit to you.

Pokemon Legends: Z-A Gives Us First Look at Mega Dragonite, Wild Mega Evolutions

Pokemon Legends: Z-A is bringing back mega evolutions, the battle gimmick that first appeared in the X and Y games, but is also bringing us new twists, including brand-new mega evolutions. A recent Pokemon Presents video walked us through a few different features of the game, including the new and returning mechanics from the series' last romp through Lumiose City. Mega evolution, which allows you to temporarily evolve certain Pokemon if they're equipped with a corresponding stone, is coming back in Legends: Z-A, alongside trainer customization. But we're also getting a few updates to the battle mechanic from Gen 6. Here's what we've learned about the game so far. Pokemon Legends: Z-A release date Legends: Z-A will be available Thursday, Oct. 16 on Switch and Switch 2. Z-A adds new mega evolutions and rogue mega evolutions Mega evolutions were a focal point of the X and Y story, and a big part of the competitive scene until Gen 7 came out. X and Y introduced 28 mega evolutions, with another 20 coming in the Gen 3 remakes, Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. Mega evolution allows you to give even fully evolved Pokemon a temporary stat boost, a new ability and sometimes even a type change. Legends: Z-A is adding to the list of megas, prominently featuring the new Mega Dragonite in the trailer. No details yet on whether Mega Dragonite has a change in type or what its new ability is, but I would guess it has something to do with the eight different wings all over its body. The Pokemon Company/Screenshot by CNET The other big change with mega evolution is the addition of rogue mega evolutions -- wild Pokemon that are able to mega evolve on their own. It's an interesting change from the Gen 6 games, where mega evolutions were only encountered in battles against gym leaders and similarly powerful trainers. Legends: Z-A brings back Lumiose City's fashion scene, detective work In Pokemon X and Y, trainers could shop at various cities to customize their attire, from hats and hoodies to socks, shoes and skirts. You could also change your hairstyle by visiting salons. That kind of customization is back in Legends: Z-A, as the trailer showed its trainer in a variety of styles ranging from sporty to chic. Sign me up for new styles in different Lumiose districts. The Pokemon Company/Screenshot by CNET Part of X and Y's postgame content was the Looker Detective Agency, where players could help a Lumiose City detective investigate some mysteries. Players will get to work with Emma, "the best detective in Lumiose," and seemingly the grown-up version of a child who featured prominently in the Looker Bureau missions in X and Y. Detective Emma on the case. The Pokemon Company/Screenshot by CNET Detective work in Legends Z-A appears to be a system for accepting quests from people around the city who need help with their problems, like trash Pokemon hanging out on restaurant tables outside. Other Pokemon staples return, like a Pokemon researcher, Mable, who needs you to catch Pokemon to help with her research, and a shady criminal organization -- in this case, Corbeau and his Rust Syndicate. Overall, Legends Z-A seems to be leaning into the city life of Lumiose, which could be a fun flavor for the game. But more than anything else, I hope we'll see more new mega evolutions and other expansions to returning mechanics. Bonus: New Pokemon Champions info Today's Pokemon Presents also gave us some new details on Pokemon Champions, the upcoming battle-focused game that will be available on both Switch and mobile devices. The game seems to be pretty exclusively a battle simulator, and we've now learned that it allows you to pull in your teams from Pokemon Home or recruit new Pokemon either temporarily for free or permanently by using in-game currency. Try out Pokemon for a week for free, or recruit them permanently for a cost. The Pokemon Company/Screenshot by CNET You can also train your Pokemon within Champions, allowing you to adjust competitive-focused stats like individual values and effort values, which affect stat numbers, and natures, which boost one stat and lower another. The Pokemon games have made a lot of changes to make training easier and less time-consuming, and this appears to be another step in that direction, though I have several questions about the in-game currency and how players can earn it. The trailer showed moving stat points from one stat to another, at a cost. The Pokemon Company/Screenshot by CNET Pokemon Champions will be available sometime next year, with no precise release date set. I wonder if this will be an attempt to split the competitive scene from the mainline games, making it easier for people to collect and train Pokemon for competition and removing the pressure of robust competitive systems from the mainline games. We'll find out whenever we get info about Gen 10.
