Royal Family fans gush over touching reason Prince Louis got his name
Prince Louis, the third and youngest child of Prince William and Princess Catherine, is turning seven today.
Time has flown since the young Royal first came into the world in 2018, when he was originally given the title His Royal Highness Prince Louis of Cambridge as his parents were Duke and Duchess of Cambridge at the time.
Four years later, this changed to Prince Louis of Wales after his parents became the Prince and Princess of Wales, following the death of Queen Elizabeth II. As the youngest member of the Wales family — behind Prince George, 11, and Princess Charlotte, 9 — Prince Louis has become known for his adorable antics during Royal events.
One of those memorable moments occurred during the late Queen's Platinum Jubilee Parade in London in 2022. Prince Louis stole the show with his expressive reactions and playful demeanor, which endeared him to the public. He's also made Royal fans chuckle while appearing at prestigious events such as Trooping the Colour and church services.
But this doesn't overshadow his importance. Prince Louis is currently fourth in line to the British throne, after his grandfather King Charles III, his father Prince William, and his elder siblings.
Story behind his name

The story behind Prince Louis' name is a touching one as a TikTok user explained he is named after Louis Mountbatten, the 1st Earl Mountbatten of Burma, who was born on June 25, 1900. The video, by Royal fan @luvx.dianaaa, showed a collection of clips from Prince Louis' young life mixed with a brief clip of Lord Mountbatten delivering a speech.
Lord Mountbatten was the maternal uncle of the late Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, and second cousin of King George VI. He was tragically killed in an IRA bomb attack on his fishing boat in Mullaghmore, County Sligo, in 1979.
Royal expert Robert Lacey once shared with People magazine: "It shows the romance of this name associated with the hero and family mentor whom William never met — his father's 'honorary grandfather'."
When it comes to King Charles III's life, Lord Mountbatten was a towering figure, frequently around during his younger years, yet he departed five years before Prince William came into the world.
The middle moniker "Arthur" is one that Prince Louis shares with his father (Prince William Arthur Philip Louis), grandfather (King Charles Philip Arthur George) his great-great-grandfather (Albert Frederick Arthur George — King George VI).
While the Royals themselves have never confirmed it, there's widespread talk that the name Arthur nods to the fabled King of old, Arthur.
This practice of passing down regal names through generations is nothing new, with Royal watchers often singing their praises about the endearing custom. One TikTok user said: "I find it cute how all the children has Charles in their name or someone linked to their family."
Another commenter chimed in: "Oh, I love it! I'm surprised they went with Louis because it's already one of Prince George's middle names, but I think it's much nicer than Albert/Arthur/Alfred which seemed to be the top guesses."
Prince Louis' nicknames

While attending school, the Royal children don't use their official titles such as Prince or Princess – to maintain a low profile. Instead, they adopt their parent's title as a surname.
With Louis having being in school since last September, he can follow his siblings' lead and, being the child of the Prince and Princess of Wales, he would be referred to as Louis Wales.
Prince Louis also has some nicknames. According to Life & Style magazine, Prince George and Princess Charlotte have been calling him "Lou Lou" for years.
However, Louis' siblings have also earned themselves nicknames. Friends of George at school have reportedly called the Prince both "PG" and "Tips", based on the popular tea brand PG Tips and his Prince George initials.
The name has been such a hit that his parents have both adopted the nickname for him at home too. Charlotte, on the other hand, has reportedly come to be known as "Lottie" by her classmates. This is also what her mother calls her at home.

Step onto Savile Row, London's most iconic street for style
As the inspiration behind Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen's brand—synonymous with understated luxury—Savile Row (UK) remains a must-visit for the sartorially inclined traveller. 78 per cent cashmere, 14 per cent silk, 3 per cent wool, 2 per cent camel (and 3 per cent other fibres, where necessary): such is the label found inside the 'Mance' coat from The Row's Autumn/Winter 2019 collection. Designed with side pockets and a back flap, it boasts an ideal length and a price tag akin to that of a modest vehicle. 'Sometimes the coat is worth more than the money itself.' And yet, the 'Mance' coat isn't even the most extravagant offering. The Row's 'Margaux 10' handbag, rendered in crocodile leather, commands a sum comparable to a pre-owned Bentley. That these pieces continue to sell out at such prices owes everything to the brand's unwavering commitment to quality. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen did justice to The Row's namesake, honouring the London street that is home to the world's most exacting tailors: Savile Row. Nestled in the Mayfair district of Westminster, central London, Savile Row is the cradle of British tailoring. In essence, it is where any gentleman serious about refined dress naturally finds himself. See more: What to expect from Prada's 'billion dollar deal' to acquire Versace?

Cate Blanchett and Michael Fassbender deliver a masterclass in espionage and intimacy in ‘Black Bag'
Dive into this meticulous spy thriller, where a British intelligence officer must confront the possibility that his wife may be behind a devastating security breach—featuring impeccable performances from Cate Blanchett, Michael Fassbender and more With work at the centre of one's life, it can be difficult to prioritise other relationships. But the stakes are higher when your job is to be an international spy working alongside your partner in the same field. 'When you can lie about everything, how do you tell the truth about anything?' This question forms the beating heart of Black Bag , a sophisticated spy thriller that defies genre expectations. Rather than flashy action sequences and explosive set pieces, director Steven Soderbergh delivers a methodical, detail-oriented espionage tale that demands your full attention. Every glance, every casual comment and every seemingly innocuous object potentially carries a double meaning in this world of professional deception. In case you missed it: Looking for your next summer read? Add these 7 Pulitzer Prize picks to your list Above Cate Blanchett and Michael Fassbender in the spy thriller 'Black Bag' (Photo: IMDB) Michael Fassbender plays George Wodehouse, a British intelligence officer investigating a devastating security breach at the National Cyber Security Centre. The culprit has leaked Severus, a cyber worm capable of destabilising nuclear facilities and putting countless lives at risk. Four suspects emerge among his colleagues at the NCSC. But the fifth and most troubling is George's wife, Kathryn St Jean (Cate Blanchett), a formidable intelligence agent. As George follows subtle clues—a discarded movie ticket, a secret meeting abroad—he faces an unsettling possibility: the person he trusts most may be the person he's hunting. Meanwhile, his relationships with coworkers deteriorate, particularly after a remarkably tense dinner party at the couple's London townhouse that Soderbergh films from inventive angles that heighten the paranoia permeating every interaction. Above Cate Blanchett in the spy thriller 'Black Bag' Above Michael Fassbender in the spy thriller 'Black Bag' (Photo: IMDB) Fassbender delivers a masterfully understated performance, his character's fastidiousness extending from his immaculate appearance to his hobbies of fishing and cooking. George is a solitary figure who allows the moral dilemma to unfold around him before reaching conclusions. Blanchett matches him perfectly, imbuing Kathryn with an air of intrigue and authority. Her performance carries an Old Hollywood flair that makes her utterly compelling even in silent moments. Tom Burke's Freddie Smalls represents unrealised potential. He is a promising agent undone by self-destructive tendencies, including alcoholism and a string of younger girlfriends. One such girlfriend is Clarissa (played by Marisa Abela, fresh from her BAFTA-nominated turn as Amy Winehouse). She is the youngest suspect, whose earnest belief in the value of their work clashes with the cynicism of her colleagues. Dr Zoe Vaughan (played by Naomie Harris) is the NCSC's staff psychiatrist, tasked with keeping operatives stable while bearing the weight of their secrets. Her illicit relationship with Bridgerton star Regé-Jean Page's character—a charismatic but condescending agent who views himself as the hero—adds another layer of complexity. Pierce Brosnan brings gravitas as Arthur Stieglitz, the NCMC's head, balancing questionable morality with impeccable tailoring. For George and Kathryn, their loyalty to each other transcends institutional allegiance. The gravity of their relationship isn't conveyed through grand gestures but through quiet moments of domesticity—getting dressed together, cooking breakfast, lying in bed. Both actors excel at doing more with less, communicating volumes through subtle body language and tonal shifts. Even the production design enhances the narrative. The couple's sophisticated London townhouse features an open floor plan that makes concealment nearly impossible. More than a setting, the home becomes a physical manifestation of the transparency they struggle to maintain with each other. Above The guests having dinner at George and Kathryn's home in spy thriller 'Black Bag' (Photo: IMDB) The film's most captivating sequences occur around the couple's dining table, where suspicion and camaraderie intermingle, and where Soderbergh's camera work brilliantly intensifies the discord among the suspects. Each character harbours different motivations and connections to Severus, creating a puzzle box that requires meticulous attention and empathic insight to unravel. Black Bag is that rare spy thriller that prioritises human psychology over spectacle. It invites viewers to explore the complexity of relationships forged in secrecy and deception, culminating in a fascinating conclusion that rewards the patient observer. This film reminds us that the most dangerous secrets are often those we keep from those closest to us. Even in a world of professional liars, the truth inevitably finds its way to the surface.
