Man United agree deal for Wolves' Brazil forward Cunha

Manchester United have agreed a deal to sign Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers, the two Premier League clubs have announced, with the Brazil forward joining on a five-year contract. United triggered the 26-year-old's release clause with Old Trafford club also having the option of extending his contract by a year. Cunha has scored 33 times and provided 15 assists in 92 appearances for Wolves, with 15 of those goals coming in the Premier League this season. He becomes United's first summer igning. "Manchester United has reached agreement with Wolverhampton Wanderers for the signing of Matheus Cunha. The Brazilian forward's signing is subject to visa and registration," United said in a statement. Meanwhile, fellow Premier Leaguers Brentford have agreed a deal with new champions Liverpool to sign goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher. Ireland's Kelleher, who has a year left on his contract at Anfield, played over a quarter of the champions' Premier League matches this season when first-choice Alisson Becker was injured. Ange Postecoglou's Tottenham job ‘under extreme risk' as drought-breaking win may not save him from sack

Ange Postecoglou's Tottenham future will reportedly be decided in the next week, but according to a bombshell report out of England, the Aussie manager is set to be sacked despite breaking Spurs' trophy drought. Spurs' 1-0 win over fallen powerhouse Manchester United in the Europa League final last month ended the club's 17-year trophy drought and was Spurs' first European honour since claiming the previous version of the Europa League, the UEFA Cup, way back in 1984. But in the league it was a disaster for Tottenham, finishing in 17th place, their worst top-flight finish since 1976-77. And although Postecoglou has won over the Tottenham fans, according to UK news outlet Football Insider the Europa League triumph won't be enough to save his job, reporting Tottenham owner Daniel Levy has already decided to sack the Aussie. The outlet claims that the Spurs board are waiting for the emotions of the Europa League success to die down before confirming the decision to part ways with Postecoglou. Spurs' formal stance is that no firm decision has been made, however, other outlets also report his job is at 'extreme risk' and it appears almost certain that he will be given his marching orders. Spanish-Irish football journalist Miguel Delaney says the 59-year-old is all-but-gone, stating he has a less than five per cent chance of staying. In his 'Reading the Game' newsletter last week, he wrote: 'As of Friday morning, Tottenham Hotspur still hadn't made an official decision on Ange Postecoglou but the chances of staying had apparently gone down from last week's 'five per cent.' 'His departure is still expected, whenever that may be.' According to The Telegraph, Brentford's Thomas Frank is the leading contender to replace Postecoglou should he be dismissed, as they labelled his position as at 'extreme risk'. Fulham's Marco Silva and Bournemouth's Andoni Iraola were also listed as potential replacements for the Aussie if he was to get the boot. The latest update comes after Postecoglou urged Tottenham to end the 'weird' speculation over his future last month as he promised to deliver more success in the years to come. 'I will be honest, I have been finding it really weird talking about my future when we have done something unprecedented (winning the Europa League),' Postecoglou said. 'I have had to answer the questions because no-one else at the club is in the position to do so, I guess. 'I have got no doubt, though, that this could be a real defining moment for this club because wherever I have been, I have made an impact where I have brought success to a club that hasn't had it for a while. 'You just have to look at those clubs' trajectory even after I left, they are still competing for things. I really think this is a moment in time where this club could push on and be a real contender for honours on a yearly basis.'

Ange Postecoglou's Tottenham future at risk with final decision to come this week

Despite ending Tottenham's 17-year trophy drought, Australian manager Ange Postecoglou's position at the club remains highly tenuous, according to reports across the UK. It is understood Tottenham chief Daniel Levy will make a final call on Postecoglou's future as Spurs manager this week, with the UK Telegraph reporting his position is 'under extreme risk'. Two years into a four-year deal, Postecoglou led Tottenham to its first European trophy since 1984, beating Manchester United in the Europa League final last month. That victory secured the club a return to the Champions League next season, as well as its first silverware of any kind since a 2008 League Cup win. However, Tottenham's trophy run coincided with the team's worst ever Premier League season – suffering a club-record 22 losses on the way to a 17th placed finish. Since the Europa League win, Postecoglou has made it clear he hopes to stay on as manager, telling supporters at an open-top bus parade: 'In all the best TV shows, season three is better than season two.' Ahead of the team's final game of the season he vented his frustration at ongoing uncertainty. 'I will be honest, I have been finding it really weird talking about my future when we have done something unprecedented,' he said. 'I shouldn't be sitting here talking about it (my future). That's my feeling, but it is what it is.' The Sun reports that representatives for multiple possible successors have been contacted by Tottenham, with Brentford's Thomas Frank and Fulham's Marco Silva both under consideration.
