Drunk driver said Google Maps told him to drive wrong way on Tipperary motorway

A driver with a Waterford address who drove the wrong way on the M8 motorway in Tipperary after consulting Google Maps, has been fined and given multiple driving bans.
Speaking at a hearing at Cashel District Court, Garda John Shanahan told Judge Brian O'Shea that on April 29, 2024, there were multiple reports of a vehicle travelling on the M8 motorway near Junction 11.

Mom shoots child molester she found attempting to rape her 12-year-old daughter in a motel room as child screams heard
A MOTHER shot a man after she walked in on him allegedly pinning her 12-year-old daughter to the bed. The mother shot Bruce Pierce, a convicted child molester, in a room at the Baymont Inn in Indianapolis on May 24. The mother reported hearing her daughter scream "No, no, no" from down the hallway, court documents obtained by local NBC affiliate After seeing the man on top of her daughter, the mother said she shot Pierce, who she claimed also had a gun in his hand. The young victim told officers that she was able to escape as her mother fired at the suspect. He was taken to Eskenazi Hospital to be treated for his injuries. The girl was taken to Riley Hospital for Children to be examined after she claimed Pierce's gun hit her. The girl traveled to the inn with her sister and grandmother on May 24 after her mother didn't return home. At some point, the girl was left alone with Pierce in a room while the mother and sister took items to the car, according to the documents. The warrant charged him with rape, child molesting, and unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon. He was also charged with confinement where the victim is under 14 years of age. PREVIOUS CONVICTIONS Pierce had previously pleaded guilty to two different child molestation charges back in 2016. Major car dealership with over 120 locations to close branch ‘imminently' after more than 50 years
A POPULAR car dealership with over 120 locations has announced it is closing a branch after 50 years. Instead, around 12 members of staff will be relocated to another Lookers site, in Stoke-on-Trent. Addressing the rumours, Mr Brearley told "The Altrincham site will be closing imminently but that effects 12 staff all of whom will be moving to another of our site's in Stoke on Trent. The first major factor is rising online car sales which are beating in-person sales at dealerships. With an extensive range of comparison and second-hand sites to chose from, may car buyers don't even step foot into a dealership anymore. Secondly, the actual cost to physically run the sites has soared. Rent, wages and energy bills have all been increasing for roughly the past five years, putting many out of pocket. The high demand with limited supply created a backlog, which although has eased, is still having an impact on the industry. A third reason for recent closures is the shift to electric cars. This may lead to some independent names falling victim to the ongoing spate of closures.
