Rumours had been circulating that staff would be made redundant, but managing director James Brearley assured that this is not true.
Instead, around 12 members of staff will be relocated to another Lookers site, in Stoke-on-Trent.
Addressing the rumours, Mr Brearley told
"The Altrincham site will be closing imminently but that effects 12 staff all of whom will be moving to another of our site's in Stoke on Trent.

Lookers was taken over by Canadian company Global Auto Holdings in October 2023, in a deal worth £504 million.
Following the takeover, a number of redundancies were made by the new owners.
Lookers was founded in 1908 as a bicycle seller and eventually switched to cars.

By the 1960s, it was one of the leading chains, alongside Pendragon, Inchcape and Marshall.
The dealership was hit hard by the pandemic, and axed 1500 jobs in 2020.
Major UK car dealership closes down
This comes after another car dealership,

in St Neots,

earlier this month.
The closure was confirmed after planners granted permission for a new retirement village to be built on the dealership's site last year.

TC Harrison confirmed last month that the dealership would close on May 16, 2025.
Happily, there will be no job losses following the closure, with all business activities and staff to relocate to the the firm's
Why are so many car dealerships closing down?

According to Business Rescue Expert there are multiple reasons why car dealerships are folding across the UK.
The first major factor is rising online car sales which are beating in-person sales at dealerships.
With an extensive range of comparison and second-hand sites to chose from, may car buyers don't even step foot into a dealership anymore.
Secondly, the actual cost to physically run the sites has soared.
Rent, wages and energy bills have all been increasing for roughly the past five years, putting many out of pocket.
Car manufacturing across the globe was also hit by a semiconductor chip shortage in 2022 which made it difficult to produce new motors.
The high demand with limited supply created a backlog, which although has eased, is still having an impact on the industry.
A third reason for recent closures is the shift to electric cars.
They are becoming more popular, given the Government initiative to be Net Zero in 2050.
The industry is also affected when companies merge or are bought by rivals.
This may lead to some independent names falling victim to the ongoing spate of closures.

The German online used car marketplace has made heavy losses since opening in the UK in 2019 when it looked to rival Auto Trader and Motors.
Heycar's majority shareholder, Volkswagen Financial Services (VWFS), have pulled the plug leaving more than 126 employees across the UK, Germany, and France at risk of losing their jobs.

A large proportion of Heycar's employees are based in the UK.
They are expected to close in the UK shortly after their closure in Germany, in mid-May.
And a Volkswagen dealership in Wirral has also recently closed, after it's owner
A Volkswagen spokesperson told the Globe: 'We can confirm that Group 1 Volkswagen Wirral ceased trading at the end of March and is now closed.

'Our focus when any network changes take place remains on convenience and the highest levels of service.
'Customers have been contacted to advise them of alternative sales, service and parts facilities.'
Hundreds of jobs are at risk due to the restructuring.

Air Canada started cancelling flights ahead of a possible work stoppage by flight attendants that could impact hundreds of thousands of travellers. A complete shutdown of the country's largest airline threatens to impact about 130,000 people a day. The union representing around 10,000 Air Canada flight attendants issued a 72-hour strike notice on Wednesday. Air Canada plans to cancel 500 flights by Friday ahead of looming strike
Air Canada said it expects to cancel several dozen flights by today's end and around 500 flights by the end of tomorrow affecting 100,0000 passengers, ahead of a planned Saturday strike by its unionized flight attendants. Mark Nasr, chief operations officer at Air Canada, said the complexity of the carrier's network, which operates over 250 aircraft on flights to over 65 countries, requires it to start winding down service now. A strike would hit the country's tourism sector during the height of summer travel and poses a fresh test for the ruling Liberal government under Prime Minister Mark Carney, which has been asked by the carrier to intervene and impose arbitration. Air Canada and low-cost carrier Air Canada Rouge carry about 130,000 customers a day. Air Canada is also the foreign carrier with the largest number of flights to the U.S. U.S. carrier United Airlines, a code sharepartner of Air Canada, said it has issued a travel waiver to help customers manage their travel plans. Restarting Air Canada's operations would take a week to complete, Nasr told reporters in Toronto. "It's simply not the kind of system that we can start or stop at the push of a button," he said. "So in order to have a safe and orderly wind down, we need to begin down." FlightAware data shows Air Canada has, thus far,cancelled only four flights as of Thursday morning. Earlier in the day, Canadian Jobs Minister Patty Hajdu urged the country's largest carrier and union to return to the bargaining table to reach a deal that could avert disruptions. The dispute hinges on the way airlines compensate flight attendants. Most airlines have traditionally paid attendants only when planes are in motion. But in their latest contract negotiations, flight attendants in North America have sought compensation for hours worked, including for tasks like boarding passengers and waiting around the airport before and between flights. The union said Air Canada had offered to begin compensating flight attendants for some unpaid work but only at 50% of their hourly rate. The airline said it had offered a 38% increase in total compensation for flight attendants over four years, with a 25% raise in the first year.

Birkenstock beats profit estimates on strong full-price footwear sales
German sandal maker Birkenstock has today beaten third-quarter profit expectations, helped by strong full-price sales of its sandals and shoes, and said it was well placed to manage the impact of the 15% US tariff on European imports. The company also stuck to its margin forecast for the year despite a "significantly weaker" dollar. Birkenstock, whose suede leather closed-toe Boston clogs sell at $179.95 each online, has seen firm demand over the past several quarters as wealthy shoppers showed few signs of resistance to price increases. Sales grew 16% in constant currency terms in the Americas during the quarter, after 20% growth in the previous three months. Sustained demand and strong full-price sales have also boosted performance at high-end peers such as Ralph Lauren's Polo t-shirts and Hoka shoes from Deckers Outdoor, as shoppers prioritise sought-after and trendy products. Birkenstock's gross profit margin for the quarter ended June 30 jumped 100 basis points to 60.5%. The company had earlier said it expected to fully offset tariffs impact, helped by a low-single-digit price increase, as it sources and manufactures nearly all of its products in Europe. It reported quarterly revenue of €635m, compared with analysts' average estimate of €636.74m, according to data compiled by LSEG. On an adjusted basis, it earned €62 per share, above the estimate of €60. Birkenstock maintained fiscal year 2025 revenue growth at the high-end of its forecast range of 15% to 17% in constant currency.
