Triple M has revealed a footy great will help replace Marty Sheargold after the controversial radio host was dumped when he made shocking comments about the Matildas that were branded sexist, un-Australian and disgusting.
The 53-year-old's Rush Hour show will now be hosted by NRL great Nathan Hindmarsh, along with broadcaster Anthony Maroon and sports reporter Adam Peacock, from April 28.
NRLW stars Millie Elliott and Keeley Davis will also join the team, with the Brisbane version of the show hosted by sports commentator Ben Dobbin.
Sheargold made the remarks on live radio show on February 24 as he reacted to the Matildas' 2-1 loss to the USA at the SheBelieves Cup, which came on the heels of their 4-0 loss to Japan to open the tournament.
'There's something wrong with the Matildas,' he said.
'They had that wonderful tournament out here (2023 FIFA World Cup) where we all fell in love with them, even though they didn't make the quarters.
'You know what they remind me of? Year 10 girls... All the infighting and all the friendship issues, "the coach hates me and I hate bloody training and Michelle's being a bitch".
'Now I'm sorry to undermine the whole sport, but that's what I think of it so you can stick it up your a**e.'
His co-hosts tried to continue discussing the SheBelieves Cup when Sheargold jumped in, exclaiming: 'Oh, she believes in what? It better be men'.
On the topic of Sam Kerr and her partner Kristie Mewis, Sheargold asked, 'do they play the same position?'
The conversation then moved to Australia hosting the women's Asian Cup next year.
'Oh god. The Asian Cup,' Sheargold said.
'I'd rather hammer a nail through the head of my penis than watch that.
'Got any men's sport?'
Sheargold issued an apology after he was widely slammed for his comments, but was dumped by Triple M just three days after he made the comments, which were brought to light by Aussie Olympian Rosie Malone.
Sports stars including Matildas star Mary Fowler's boyfriend Nathan Cleary and Aussie swimming great Cate Campbell blasted Sheargold's take on the team.
'We [women] deserve better. We need more recognition. I feel really, really strongly that these comments are unacceptable,' Campbell said.
'And my question here is where are the men? There were two other men in that studio while Marty was making those comments... However, it took a woman, it took Rosie Malone, an Olympian in her own right, to call these comments out.
'Why is it women who are calling out the poor behaviour of men and not men stepping up? We don't want to be in this trope. We don't want to be the people who are saying, 'oh, you can't take a joke, stop it. That's not acceptable'.
'That turns people like Marty Sheargold into a martyr for men everywhere, because they're saying women are putting him down.'
Cleary said: 'It's pretty sad that people are still saying that sort of stuff. It's just unnecessary.'
Anthony Albanese added his voice to the wave of criticism.
'They were just shocking comments that anyone could think it, let alone say it,' the prime minister said.
'Completely unacceptable. The Tillies are just legends. They excited and brought together the whole country. The whole country was united in cheering for them.'

Taylan May is reportedly on the cusp of being offered a deal to join up with a new NRL club and could return to play over the next month. He later pleaded not guilty to charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, two counts of stalking or intimidation intending to cause fear of harm and two counts of contravening an AVO. The charges were later withdrawn. Peter V'landys later confirmed that May could return to play following the dismissal of the charges but the former Penrith player, who made his debut in 2021, delayed any such comeback. The winger had checked into a mental health clinic earlier this year to focus on his well-being. In May, he broke his silence on admitting himself to the facility to Channel 9, stating that he felt like he was 'a whole different person now.' He also added that he could play as early as 'next week', dismissing claims that he would not be a risk to other clubs in the NRL. Now, The Sydney Morning Herald writes that the winger 'underwent a medical exam' at the Tigers on monday. The rugby league player is also understood to have snubbed a train-and-trial offer from the Rabbitohs having visited the club two weeks ago. However, the outlet adds that sources close to the deal say the footy player was drawn to the prospect of playing alongside his older brother Terrell at the Tigers. It comes as Sam Burgess had also reportedly attempted to coax May to join Super League club Warrington. But the former Penrith player has made it clear that he is set on staying in Australia so that he can play alongside his brother. 'I'll just put it out there, I honestly wanna play with my brother,' he recently told Channel 9. 'He has spoken about that in the media and it will be a dream come true, not just for us but for my family. Playing with him would light a bigger fire inside me.'

Lachlan Galvin left one of his new Bulldogs team-mates bemused after issuing a odd team instruction when the former Wests Tigers five-eighth came off the bench for his debut for Canterbury on Monday. The 19-year-old prodigy ended months of speculation over his future and announced his arrival at the Bulldogs, by scoring a try and taking the reins as halfback, to help seal a 30-12 win against Parramatta. The result keeps the Dogs at the top of the NRL but some uncertainty still remains over what role the exciting young playmaker will have in Cameron Ciraldo's side. The ex-Tigers star warmed the bench for 56 minutes before coming on to take over at half-back, as off-contract No 7 Toby Sexton was moved to play hooker. But the move left Sexton slightly puzzled, admitting to Fox League after the match that he thought Galvin had been joking when he told him he was set to join up with the forwards for the final quarter of the match. 'He came on and said play hooker and I thought he was joking for a second and he goes: "Nah you're actually playing hooker" and I thought: "Oh, righto this will be good",' Sexton told the outlet. Notable too was how impressive Sexton's kicking game was for Canterbury before Galvin came on. The Bulldogs' regular halfback also entered Monday under intense scrutiny, given he is off-contract and seemingly unlikely to now be re-signed. Canterbury were able to dominate field position for the majority of the match, only for Parramatta's resolute defence to keep them in the contest. Burton scored early for the Bulldogs when he picked off a Ryley Smith pass from a scrum and went 60 metres to score. But the Eels returned the favour moments later when Zac Lomax intercepted a Burton pass and put Mitch Moses into space to score a 90-metre try. The Bulldogs took a 12-6 lead back when Burton went to the short side in the 20th minute and sent Marcelo Montoya over. However, the match swung again when Viliame Kikau was sin-binned for dangerous contact on a kicking Moses just before halftime and the Eels levelled the score on the next set. Canterbury went 14-12 clear when Moses was penalised for a high shot in the 50th minute before the Bulldogs ran away with it late with Galvin in the centres.

I knew we had something serious here,' Stuart revealed. That 'something serious' is Nathan's relationship with Matildas star Mary Fowler. The high-profile sporting couple met at an Adidas event in 2023 and quickly developed a deep personal connection. Fowler later said their early exchanges were 'paragraph messages just about the way that we think about life'. Since then, the pair have managed a long-distance relationship, with Fowler playing for Manchester City in the UK and Cleary leading the Penrith Panthers in Sydney. In April 2024, they confirmed their relationship publicly, sharing moments on Instagram that delighted fans and sparked speculation about Cleary's future. Stuart sees Perth as the ideal middle ground for both love and legacy.
